Boys Like Girls (http://www.boyslikegirls.com) has posted the album version of the "The Great Escape" on their pureVOLUME.com (http://www.purevolume.com/boyslikegirls) page (it's one of my favorite songs this year). The Matt Squire-produced self-titled record is set to hit stores next Tuesday, August 22nd, through Red Ink.

The vocals are way too high on their album. I can't even listen to it loud in my car, it pierces my ears. Squire needs to tone it down.

The second Summery/fun/pop/punk album of 2006...and from what I've heard these boys seem to have done a slightly better job than HGB.

That said, having listened again, yes the vocals are really, really high, it will be interesting to see if the lead can hit them live.

Does anyone have lyrics for this? It's just I'm struggling to make half of them out...

His vocals are wayy high live too. I almost cringed for a second when I saw them. I guess that's just his style.

On another note, I still love the Thunder acoustic demo. I have this preordered, can't wait to get it.

if you love that song, how can you not like all of them... this record is pure pop-punk and is basically flawless (which is what matt squire does)

i like the "solo" on the original version better but still a kick ass song. Def. blairing this going down the highway on my way home from the beach late at night before the summer is over. oh yeah this IS NOT A POP PUNK RECORD! and it will never be. i'm sorry to break the news. this gives pop punk a bad name so pleaseeee stop the comparassions :(. pop punk is fun, moderately fast tempo and has more than a catchy chorus.

Because it wears thin after about 10 minutes. The album falls into a pattern and never recovers after the 3rd track. Good for a while but desperately needs variation.

Matt Squire is somewhat notorious for having the vocals pushed up wayyyy high in the mix.

this whole album is amazing. people are really gonna love what they hear. this could be a good time for boys like girls. with fob out of the mix for a while with their new album in the works, nows the time for another band to strike up big. and this album could do it. especially with the great escape pulling them. such a great song.

Oh yeah? Well I guess it doesn't help the cause that he sings like that live. I still like them, great catchy music. I guess I just get past the high voice. He's no Jason Vena...but still fun music.

I wan't talking about high in the sense of pitch, I mean that the vocals are too loud on the record and it's obnoxious, just like Squire did on the Panic at the Disco record.

I saw them a couple of months ago w/CIWWAF and was quite shocked to see the lead hitting all the high notes. At the time the only song I was really familar with was Hero/Heroine and he was really spot on. Interested to see how the CD turns out.

is it me, or did they change "let's get drunk and DRIVE around" to RIDE? kinda lame- please don't get me wrong, i'm entirely against dui, but changing your lyrics to something more pc when you realize you'll be reaching a huge audience? c'mon.

how is that lame, knowing that your music may eventually reach a huge audience of people? it's just being socially responsible. i applaud them for it.
