Staten Island's Mid Island Little League team won their championship game tonight on a walkoff HR. They're going to Williamsport to rep us. Maybe if they win, we'll be known for our good little league baseball teams rather than our vast garbage dump (which actually has been closed for about 5 years).

They mention it on Sportscenter actually and show a highlight. The field they played on is literally down the block from my house.

haha isn't the cancer rate in Toms River higher than anywhere else in NJ? I read that somewhere. I have a friend who moved there in 6th grade, damn..I haven't talked to him in years.

Edit: BTW, Staten Island has a high cancer rate too because of the dump. Only if you lived out here for like 25 years though. I lived in Brooklyn all my life, I recently moved out here.

when i played babe ruth all stars back in the day, those bastards beat us in the new england regional semifinals. we were one game from the world series.

not that these 12 year old kids had anything to do with it, but they shouldnt even really be where they are. they lost to vermont 9-8 but were awarded the game because the moron manager for the VT team didnt let one of his kid's bat. adding that 3 outs + an at-bat rule was a terrible move ....i mean its great for regular season games so all the kids can play, but this is all-star's. it should be enough of a reward just to be picked for the team. i feel bad for the vermont kids.

yeah, well the 12-13 year old Softball team from Mattawan, which is like 15 minutes from me if you're going the speed limit on the high way, is out in Oregon at the Softball world series for that age bracket. And so far they're 3-0 and haven't allowed a run.

Also, like 3 minutes from is the Softball World Series for like 16-18 year old girls. So tons of international girls and shit coming through for a week or two.

Hey, I didn't even notice. The Staten Island team's coach is Nick Doscher. He coaches a local High School's team too and his son was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the draft last year (catcher). He was also being looked at by college scouts for Football, he was a good QB.
