View Full Version : Dinner For Schmucks (2010)

Smash Adams

"Dinner for Schmucks" tells the story of Tim (Paul Rudd), a guy on the verge of having it all. The only thing standing between him and total career success is finding the perfect guest to bring to his boss' annual Dinner for Extraordinary People, an event where the winner of the evening brings the most eccentric character as his guest. Enter Barry (Steve Carell), a guy with a passion for dressing mice up in tiny outfits to recreate great works of art. From Jay Roach, director of "Meet the Parents" and "Meet the Fockers" comes an unforgettable feast about two unlikely friends and one very memorable dinner.
Trailer is pretty funny, plus I love the first 2 Austin Powers films and Meet The Parents

Last time Rudd and Carrell teamed up they made one of the funniest movies in the past 20 years, so I'm excited. Plus, good trailer. Sweet.

I think it'll be funny. However, ventriloquist dolls freak me out a bit (stemming from an intense episode of Goosebumps years ago), and that one is really creepy.

I meant that I think this movie will make up for those 2 movies (while I haven't seen Date Night, it looks wretched and I Love You, Man was barely watchable), i.e. I think it looks hilarious.

I got over having an attitude because of the Internet years ago, it's not worth it. It just annoyed me that the three responses against my initial statement were said as if I was wrong. It's an opinion, and I was the only one acknowledging that, whereas the shots back at me were stated as if fact. Either way, my bad, didn't mean to sound so defensive.

I imagine fans of the original won't like this very much, but this was very funny. If you like Paul Rudd and Steve Carell's previous work together, you'll probably enjoy this. Luckily the trailers weren't jammed with all the best moments, as there were some pretty hysterical moments. My favorite thing about this movie was definitely Jemaine Clement.

I just thought it killed as far as funny movies that year. Can you think of any other good ones? I mean, some people are jizzin over Role Models, and while it was funny, I thought I Love You, Man killed it. Sure 40 Year Old Virgin was funnier but that was a long while back. Paul Rudd gets to play opposite of waaaayyyy too many ridiculously beautiful women. Seriously, the actor that played "Julie" was gorgeous.

I liked the film but, honestly, it was forgettable. I laughed quite a bit and I didn't regret seeing it. I typically like Paul Rudd but I don't know if he's just rehashing the same "straight man" and I'm catching on to it or he just mailed it in on this one: but he was the weak link in the film. Zack Galifianakis was hilarious and I loved his chemistry with Steve Carrel.

I didnt think this movie was anything great. Certainly wouldnt see it again unless i was channel surfing one day and caught it. Steve Carrel just isnt that funny to me and Paul Rudd's character was just ok. I didnt even like Zack Galifianakis. 4 out of 10

saw this today, pretty much what i expected. decent comedy and steve and zach were great. paul rudd just didn't seem like he was really trying though.

I feel like he hasn't really tried in his last few films. He was weak in I Love You, Man IMO.

I never wanted to fight so much as Steve Carell in this movie. Made me fucking piss to watch this movie.

Thought it was pretty funny stuff. Not something i'd rush to see again but some good laughs nonetheless

TURBO PENGUIN

was the best part

I laughed but overall, it wasn't that great of a movie and I felt like it dragged on.

I thought it was pretty funny, but a lot less funny than I had hoped for. Steve Carell had plenty of great scenes, however. 6/10.

The brunch scene was probably one of the hardest things I've had to watch. The movie had some laughs though and was decent overall I guess.

I thought it was funny but sad at the same time. there were definitely some parts that were a little hard to watch.

Steve Carrell was the death of this movie. Movie started strong, but he ruined it
