View Full Version : Senior/class songs
Hey guys, I'm putting together a soundtrack for my class' senior video, and I'm trying to figure out fitting, diverse, and most importantly, good music to put in it. I've got a pretty good foundation already, some Jimmy Eat World, The Ataris, Good Old War, The Beatles, Brand New, etc., but I need suggestions.
So the question is, what are the best class songs that you've heard over the years?

I honestly didn't mind it. It's a popular song, and the lyrics fit the purpose. It's not like it's abrasive or anything.

True but there had to be someone who could have come up with something better. Glad you didn't react that half retarded person above. It does fit. Doesn't make it good M-(

This song would probably be a good senior song. The Scene Aesthetic - This Is A Suitable Valedictory (I based off lyrical content. I don't know if you're looking for a certain sound...)
some lyrics:
We'd like to say its over
We'd like just to forget
All of the words we've never said
And all the actions we regret
We'd like to send the message
To each and every friend
And thank them all for their support
Wouldn't have made it without them
We feel the time is coming
And we're trying to pretend
Like we're prepared, we're not prepared
But if it's destined we are in
Now listen very closely
And try not to be scared
Because were in this thing together
And together we won't fail

My class song this year is "Live Like We're Dying" by Kris Allen. And a bunch of us are trying REALLY hard to get that changed.

Well my graduating class had 23 students (including me) and the demographics of the graduation ceremony was almost entirely extremely conservative, white, middle class middle aged-elderly people and children. One of my classmates sang it solo with just a recorded backing, so it wasn't like it was actually Miley Cyrus singing it. It isn't that bad of a pop song either. It just has the whole Disney pop stigma attached to it.
I think a well known pop or classic song is the best bet for a class song because most people won't recognize or appreciate hardly any of the scene songs mentioned in this thread. The point of a class song is to promote inclusion and unity. That's kind of hard to do if you choose a song that the majority has never heard or isn't familiar with.

Yay I can add you to those who like me list haha And exactly. Them picking the song all by themselves made it absolutely not memorable for you. The best I can think would be October Fall "If We're All Alone, Aren't We In This Together?"
But it's dark and not really "school" friendly.
It would depend if this is for a ceremony or sitting around a fire reminiscing with friends while possibly smoking THC.
If it's the latter, this is the best you're gonna get ;-)

lol mine was too. I feel bad for the people who have to graduate with 1000 students in their class or something(unless they split the days?) My class was around 500 students, so it wasn't unbearably long.
my class' unofficial song was "don't stop believin" by journey. i'm pretty sure it was just the song we'd always happen to end up drunkenly singing together at parties and stuff.

my home town has a farm in it, so despite the fact that we're located in montgomery county md (the 2nd most wealthy county in the country, where all the politicians live) they found it appropriate to vote "I Was Born in a Small Town" by John Cougar Mellencamp for our class song. We're 10 miles from the most densely trafficked intersection in all of America, but somehow we're a small town.... fucking brilliant Damascus Highschool class of 2004.
