USC-Auburn.

USC has an easy schedule and should reload. Auburn is a team I've been following since the middle of last season and I think they got it on lock. I see a one loss Auburn vs undefeated USC.

As a Miami fan, I think they actually have a great chance of running the table. I just can't bring myself to pick them. Their schedule is favorable also.

Iowa vs. West Virginia

Pat White and Steve Slaton combine for a winning combination.

Drew Tate will own the Big 10.

EDIT: I wanted to put Texas in there... but they will slip up.

USC vs West Virginia.

USC, I believe, has a great chance at an undefeated season. They are stacked at WR, O-Line and on defense. Losing Bush, White and Leinart hurts, of course, but this is the deepest program in college football. Booty will be a Heisman candidate by midseason.

West Virginia, I am not so sold on. I'm picking them because of the potential of an undefeated season. They are loaded with White and Slaton and a defense that is good enough to beat up on a weak schedule. The only potential troublespot I see is Louisville, but I believe the Cardinals are just a lesser talented version of the Mountaineers.

I picked USC vs Auburn initially, but changed my mind due to how tough the SEC is. I can't see any team coming out of that conference undefeated and I think USC and WVU are both in good position for undefeated seasons. I'll probably end up switching back to Auburn before the season starts.

I truly am expecting Montana to win another national championship this year. They weren't in too bad of shape last season with an absolutely horrendous quarterback. This season with that position improved they should be tough to beat.

ND/WVU because the Big East sucks minus Louisville and if ND can have decent secondary play they should go undefeated.

Doubt it. This will be one of ND's two-three losses, IMO. Cal poses the toughest threat to USC, but I don't see it happening.

Ohio State won't make it to the championship unless they start out well, they face Texas in week 3. That's gonna hurt them if they lose. Notre Dame vs. Texas I'll say.

Lot of Notre Dame love...interesting.

Everyone is hyping them so much. I mean they did have a good season last year. they beat a weak pitt team at the beginning of the seaon. beat michigan, lost a close one to MSU beat a crappy washington team, purdue eh, lost a tough one to USC, beat BYU HA shouldnt count as a win, a struggling Tennessee team, beat navy, as well as syracuse and stanford

they didnt have that bad of sched, thats my thought. I expected them to do well from last season by just looking at their sched. They have a good coach. Could expect a lot again from them this season

This upcoming year, the first 4 games could pose threats(GT, PSU, Michigan, MSU). I dont know how Purdues team is this year as they come up number 5 game. Stanford joke. UCLA should be a win, a joke of a game with navy, then beat UNC ,another few wins from joke teams airforce and army. easy. then end it off with USC. I see them losing to either PSU or Michigan. then I do not know about USC. They lost a lot but always pull players out from the bench and they will be awesome. Its at USC too...so i say ND will lose 2-3 games this season

I dont think Notre Dame loses to Penn State or Michigan. Honestly, the only threat on their schedule IMO, is USC.

Notre Dame vs. OSU.

Call it Bias if you want but the only team I see giving Notre Dame a possible loss is Michigan. They return 90% of an amazing offense. The defense that everyone is crying about is going to be MUCH better than last year. They return their entire secondary and pretty much all the d-line. They only really had to replace their LB's and right now the 3 they have, is being said to have the most athletic LB crew Notre Dame has had in it's history. The secondary was never slow(except for maybe ginn and jarret). There were a beavy of reasons why their secondary got torched. From lack of experience and knowledge, to an inconsistent pass rush etc... Zbikowski went to speed camp, Ndukwe lost 15 pounds, The line beefed up. They have one of the best DE's in the country finally playing injury free(knock on wood). Top that off with a years worth of experiences, new schemes, and heavy attention being paid to in summer practices... The defense will be fine.

As for Ohio State, same thing. Everyone is crying about how they're losing so many starters on defense but in all my years watching college football I've NEVER seen a bad Tressel defense. There were so many times people said Ohio State was "rebuilding" and their defense was always stellar. Until they prove otherwise, I have a hard time believing that bad defense is whats going to ruin it for OSU this year.

got this from an CNNSI article

"Myth No. 2: Notre Dame's defense is hopeless.

Whereas Weis had the luxury of inheriting a largely veteran offense, his defense last season employed eight first-time starters. Playing in new coordinator Rick Minter's more aggressive scheme, they allowed far too many big plays, most notably in the Fiesta Bowl loss to Ohio State, and finished 75th nationally in total defense. Look a little closer, however, and you'll find that the unit wasn't without its positives, ranking in the top 40 nationally in rushing defense (132.3 yards per game), sacks (31) and turnovers created (24).

"They played very good defense against us," said USC offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, whose star-studded squad needed a miraculous 61-yard pass on fourth-and-nine to set up the winning score. "When we were watching them [on tape], we didn't think they were slow or that they were bad at all."

A year later, all but two defensive positions are manned by returning starters, all of whom should be far more comfortable with the system, resulting in fewer breakdowns. "I think that we played slow sometimes [last season], but that doesn't mean we ran slow," said Weis. "Anyone who has to think about what to do ... is going to be hesitant. That was one of our big focuses in the offseason."

Last season the Irish were plagued by an inconsistent pass rush. This year Minter expects the front four, led by Abiamari ("He was the best pass rusher we saw all year," said Kiffin), to be the strength of the defense, which could make life easier for much-maligned cornerbacks Ambrose Wooden and Mike Richardson, who too often found themselves in fruitless foot races. Zbikowski, who had five interceptions in '05, is back to play center field. The biggest question mark is linebacker, where Notre Dame lost veterans Brandon Hoyte and Corey Mayes. In an intriguing move, Weis has moved speedy tailback Travis Thomas -- Darius Walker's primary backup last season -- to strongside linebacker, where he's expected to start.

Despite his team putting up 44 points and 488 yards on the Irish in an early-season win last year, Michigan State offensive coordinator Dave Baldwin thought very highly of ND's defensive personnel: "They're not lacking at any position. Up front they run very well. And I know those cornerbacks are talented. We weren't wide open, I can tell you that; we made some incredible catches.

"With nine returning starters and the same coordinator, they have a chance to be one of the best in the country," said Baldwin. With such a powerful offense, the defense doesn't need to be one of the best -- but they do need to be a whole lot better than 75th."

Penn State vs. Notre Dame

Nothing would please everybody more than to see a classic Notre Dame-PSU battle in the National Championship. Admit it, you'd watch it.

Obviously I have some bias, but I do believe that PSU will make it this year. The problem is PSU has a very hard schedule this year. Away especially. (Ohio State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Purdue, all hard places to play).

But if not PSU, then OSU and WVU.
