I dont really like using the word hardcore on anything because at least one person always says "that's not hardcore!" and proceeds to give me their definition. and thats really annoying so just ignore it for simplicity's sake. I like hardcore music to an extent but I need some feedback, so here are some of my favorite, to use the term lightly, xHARDCOREx bands. which one do you like better?

Norma Jean, if only for Bless the Martyr Kiss the Child and Redeemer.

Bless the Martyr, not one album any of these other bands could hold a candle to that album. I would even go as far as saying Redeemer and possibly even O God as well.

yeah, im starting to have mixed feelings about adtr too. i saw them on wednesday in philly and they just made a spectacle of themselves with the giant POOF! steam column things that poison used to have at shows, shooting confetti and streamers onto the crowd on the last note of the last song, a really really lame gimmicky intro that had something to do with jeremy teleporting from paris to the ramp/riser behind the drummer. it was just.......up its own ass.

But went with Norma Jean for Bless the Martyr.
see i know someone would say it haha. but why not o god the aftermath? its my favorite at least.

yeah, i was at the show too. i left early like 2 songs into adtr's set. A day to remember are definitely a studio band. His singing is very good live but the songs that are all screaming like the danger in starting a fire and mr. highway he like sings or talks the screaming parts. really annoying

Haha, ya. I was kinda just joking, but at the same time serious. O God was pretty good too, but Bless the Martyr was what got me into them. Then I kinda quit listening to this kind of "hardcore" and started listening to real hardcore stuff.

had to go with Norma Jean here

Hardcore was diluted almost in a commercial sense to create all of the bands you listed (I listen to a lot of heavy music but can't stand any of the bands there). Hardcore, to people that actually listen to that style, would be considered stuff like Bane, Champion and Casey Jones, along with more accessible bands like Throwdown, Bury Your Dead and Remembering Never. It's made so many changes in the past 10 years, spawning metalcore (which is pretty much everything you listed), deathcore (All Shall Perish, whitechapel, A Breath Before Surfacing), crunk/techno/synthcore (Arsonists Get All the Girls, Attack Attack!, Asking Alexandria), etc. It all stems from the same place, it just skews off in different directions. And even stuff like Bane and Champion come from bands in the '80s and '90s. It's all a progression.
I don't know, I feel like a lot of people would easily dispute that, and I'm in no way saying it's completely accurate; it's just how I happen to have seen things over the past decade or so.
Where is Parkway Drive?
ABR for the sake of voting.

why is Emmure even on the poll? fuckin shit
Oh and for the people that voted for ADTR, i have nothing good to say, i like the band, but to say they are a better hardcore band than Norma Jean and August Burns Red? what an insult

i listed emmure because i like them, not because i care about other people liking them.

Of the bands you listed I chose August Burns Red though I like every single band you listed. None of these bands are 'hardcore' though, real hardcore bands are Have Heart, Guns Up!, Trash Talk, etc.

ADTR is the only one i listen to
and they are probably one of the "hardest" bands i actually listen to on a regular basis (btw, i am fully aware they are not hardcore). hardcore is just not really my thing for the most part. i'm a pop-punk/rock kid, what can i say. adtr is poppy enough i like them

Bless the Martyr, not one album any of these other bands could hold a candle to that album. I would even go as far as saying Redeemer and possibly even O God as well.
this all the way....I picked ABR because out of those bands listed they are the most consistently good but BTMKTC is easily the best album put out by any of those bands

Why does this poll not consist of hardcore/punk bands like Have Heart, Verse, Down to Nothing, Guns Up!, Defeater, Crime in Stereo, etc...
I mean, I thought the poll was "better hardcore band"
.....

I as well went with Norma Jean, really only for Bless The Martyr. Their other cds are ok. All the other bands on this poll suck. And yeah i know who Texas In July is. Statement still stands.

ABR baby. Though I LOVE Norma Jean/ADTR/Texas In July, you don't see any of these other bands playing triplet-based breakdowns in 7/8.

Woah, very surprised by Texas In July. If they get picked up by a better label with ties to some better producers I can see them getting huge. I'd like to see a little more range in the screams, though.
Between ABR and Norma Jean, Norma takes the cake.

Wow it's really sad the ADTR is winning, and pathetic that they're winning by so much. Norma Jean is outstanding and ABR is really good too. Everything else is extremely generic.

What's called hardcore now has zero similarities to original hardcore like Black Flag and The Germs

ABR by far
Texas in July is just an abr clone. Come from the same town too.

ADTR... but more for their pop-punk and less for the hardcore. They really just need to ditch the screams/breakdowns... they have a ton of potential as a good pop-punk band.
