I'm only a fan of live albums if on a rare occasion it is exceptionally well-done. This is one of those occasions.

how is this band still around? and too lazy to actually write a new record? lame.

What are you talking about? They released a full-length in April 2005, and after five studio albums, a triple-disc live release is something every fan should be happy about. Not to mention, they're constantly on tour, and they will soon begin work on a split release with Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer, as well as new material of their own. At least get your facts straight if you're going to attempt to criticize an extremely hard working band.

I'm not even going to warrant this an argumental response. It's one to base a bands ability on album sales, but another to disrespect an entire genre of music.

Are you honestly going to try and tell me that the genre of ska/punk is doing well, has tons of bands that are popular and that Reel Big Fish is at the forefront of some major musical movement. Come on. Hop on your time machine and head back to '96.

Did you even think for just one second that Reel Big Fish, myself, or other fans of the genre ever gave a damn about sales, popularity, or musical movements? It's about the music. I could care less about what the rest of the world is listening to.

i guess it doesn't matter, but I like to be current. I like some oldies, but if you get stuck in once place you never move forward and i don't want to be stuck in the late '90s where every comercial was a ska tune...like i said, I like a few oldies but those bands can only do so much and when they put out 5+ albums they really atart to sound pretty repetitive...peace.

That's understandable, and for the most part, respectable, but there's enough bands in ska that haven't "broken out" just yet that are reinventing the wheel, keeping the music modern, and putting out some exciting material. I'm not sure if you're familiar with only the third-wave bands, but there's so much out there that deserves a ton of respect.

I do have to say one band that put an insane twist on things was Folly. I don't know if they are "ska" but I love screamy music and their addition of horns was cool. I guess i might have came off a dick by writting off a whole genre, which I apologize for, but for some reason Reel Big Fish never did it for me. I never got them and never understood why others like them...ska isn't horrible I guess I just feel their version of it is..vocals always seemed very jock/cocky to me....like he hates jocks and such but would jump in line with them in a second if they gave hime a chance....

Wow. That's quite an impression to recieve just from vocals alone, but if that's what you think, that's cool, dude. I'm a big Reel Big Fish fan, and I like music that doesn't take itself too seriously, so their quirky, humorous attitudes are what does it for me. I'm generally a sucker for energetic music with a positive vibe, so I'm naturally hooked by them.
Folly aren't exactly a ska band, but they definitely incorporate some elements of it into their music. They aren't exactly a band that's up my aisle, but I totally respect what they're doing with their sound. But, there's alot of incredible bands out there just waiting to be discovered, so if you ever have some free time, take a look around and see what you can find, man. You might be surprised at what you hear.

Wow Mr. Popularity, based on record sales you should be top of your class as well, how did your last full length go? Don't be a friggin dumb ass Reel Big Fish, has been around for ever and they still put out quality releases. I'm not huge on the ska scene, and your right with bands like P!ATD, Reel Big Fish won't get to much attention, but I dare any one of these bands selling over 100k put out a live album as amazing as Reel Big Fish did (yes, im aware that the cd is not out yet) when the cd hits the streets listen to track S.R. on the second disc and tell me musically these guys are not talanted, they do this song in so many diffrent ways it completly blows many other bands in the genres out of the water. Don't be a dick, RESPECT REEL BIG FISH if nothing else.

live at ernesto's, probably the best live disk i've ever heard. even though i'm not a big fish fan i'll probably check this out also

ska has always been around, hell it's as good now as ever. in 20-30 years time ya can't tell me bands like the toasters, the slackers, hepcat, etc won't be looked upon as large scale influences to future generations

I got this new cd at their show last week. I had a very great time at the show. Streetlight was very very good. MXPX wasn't the best. Reel Big Fish was great. I would have to say though that it is so much better to go actually see the show than get the album. I watched the DVD portion last night and actually got bored watching it. They make it so you can barely even hear the crowd and it just seems like a normal album and not a live one. I would've enjoyed it alot more if you could get into it alot more.

Got this album off of iTunes last week for like 11.99...well worth the money (for like 38 songs). One of the tightest bands I've seen live and always a good time. Yeah, there ska used to be my thing back in high school in the 90's, but personally, the nostalgia of the sound is what is so appealing...plus, great summer / driving album (or 3)

agreed. rbf work ridiculously hard to make their fans happy. and if you've ever seen them live youll know what i mean. they play every song you want to hear and it sounds much better than any studio recording. this disc is going to be amazing
