I posted this last thread, but it apparently went overlooked:
Hey, people who bought tickets for the four upcoming Brand New/P.O.S. shows from the first preorder, have you gotten the tickets in the mail yet? Did you get email notifications? The credit card was charged for my 2 Pittsburgh tickets, but I haven't gotten anything. I might email them this weekend and see what's up. If they lost my order somehow, I'll be mad.

I just posted this in the thread over in the Show Reviews/Setlists Forum to see if anyone has anything to say there. Depending on what they say, I will mostly likely call and/or email them. As disappointed as the Cleveland show last fall was, I've really been looking forward to this. Also, my friend won't be happy that her ticket got lost.
Drunk Evan is funny.
I only ever listen to TDAG or YFW anymore.

Oh my, Evan. It's not El_Jeffe's fault. The other staff members were getting on his case about it being a chat thread. But shit got a little too ridiculous.

Those are the two albums I've been listening to the most lately as well. TDAG is my favorite, so it's always popping up again here and there, and the warmer weather has been putting me in the mood for YFW a lot lately.

Shit, I better get better haha that'd be real sweet though. I'll play Jesse's parts while you tackle Vin's parts, drums, and bass. And vocals. We'll loop it live. It'll be tight as hell.

Archers is a track I love but for some reason always forget about. Lyrically, it's brilliant. I don't know why it's so elusive in my mind. The feedback at the end of it is one of my favorite moments on TDAG.

Yes, yes and yes.
The "Feels like we could escape/And I don't mind/Throwing away this filthy silver song" overdubbed vocals at the end are my favorite moment on the album...there where the drum part changes for the final repeat of the chorus.

Between Deja and Devil and God. Duh.
And yes, I do. I also include B-sides in between albums. So it looks something like this:
YFW
...My Nine Rides Shotgun
Safety in Numbers Split (Moshi Moshi + Am I Wrong)
Deja
Flying at Tree Level
Fight Off Your Demons/TDAG demos
TDAG
Brothers
aloC-acoC

Today, I listened to Your Favorite Weapon front to back for the first time in a long time. It was cute.
Then I listened to SoCo Amaretto Lime from the Live at the Downtown set. I love that version of that song.
No, Justin, I wasn't joking about doing a You Stole cover. I think that'd sound cool. And yes, you'd have to do multiple guitar parts for it to be worthwhile.
I also don't think this will work.

it's the same people...who gives a fuck if it turns into a chat thread every once in a while? we always get back on topic eventually
the way i see it, the brand new thread is like an online clubhouse where we hang out and talk about a lot of things...brand new foremost. if someone wants to come in and chat brand new with us, nearly everyone here will acquiesce them. otherwise, pursue a more lessaiz faire style of moderation please
I know, it's not like we've had some five new people join the thread in the past week regardless of our getting off-topic, or anything.

I know what it means. But besides it really sounding like "rocked," it would be redundant to say someone stole from a cradle someone got robbed in. That would be like me saying I got robbed in a bank some guy stole from. It just sounds silly.
Also, he clearly says their words got stolen, not their virginities.

Hey Evan,
Just sent over the final artwork revisions for approval, so hopefully we’ll have an announcement in the next week or two! We’re getting close!
what were Brand New's set-lists like in Australia? Are they playing Noro, yet?

I don't really like any new pop punk bands. I would love to find some new bands from this "scene" that I like, which is why I always check out new bands that receive a lot of hype. I'm more open minded about music than people would think/expect. But yes, I do love old school pop punk. Jimmy Eat World are one of my absolute favourite bands. I listen to them on a regular basis in my car. I still love a lot of bands from this scene, but I guess it's mainly their older albums.

You didn't. I just felt like throwing it out there because I know a lot of people think that and it couldn't be further from the truth. It's a pretty perfect record. This applies to both CTL and Deja. Both would probably be in my all-time top 15.
And I can't fault anyone who jumped ship for TDAG. It's an incredible record, but it may as well be a different band from Deja. Do you like the demos/Fight Off Your Demons that came out between?

Easily one of his best melodies. You know a melody's good when it just assults you out of thin air and gets stuck in tour head. Not even the whole song. And you don't even have to have heard it. Like the "doo doo doo"s in "Semi-Charmed Life"

The "demo/alt" Jude Law I have is more of an intro in the style of Tautou where it's one main riff and he just sings the chorus over and over for about a minute and a half. It's cool, but not as good as album Jude Law.

Demos:
Five YFW demos, six or seven Deja Entendu demos (including three isntrumental tracks, one of them ended up being Guernica and the other two were never used for anything,) nine released demos form the Devil and God sessions, no Daisy demos.
Notable B-Sides and non-album tracks:
From YFW era - Moshi Moshi, My Nine Rides Shotgun, a Re-recording of Jude Law and a Semester Abroad, Am I Wrong
Deja era - Flying at Tree Level, O Holy Night
Devil and God era - Brothers, Fork and Knife, Millstone alternate, Luca (Reprise)
Daisy era - Brooklyn Sessions (the band reportedly re-recording some psuedo-acoustic versions of songs from every album; the label released a few of them with interviews played over them, to the band's dismay. You can find Sowing Season, Jesus Christ, Bed, At the Bottom, and Bought a Bride.)

Not quite. TDAG > Deja = Daisy > YFW
I love Daisy and Deja equally.

Also, idk if this has been discussed before, but in at the bottom, do you guys hear "I've made little lies" or "I've made little lives"? I hear "lives"

That's a shame you can't get into new stuff. I would think liking JEW you might be able to get into something sincere like The Dangerous Summer or Lights. Both of them give me that earnest, positive vibe I get off JEW.
I never heard those demos. I refused to listen to them when they first leaked because I wanted to hear the actual album and then I just forgot. Haha that actually reminds me - I pulled a prank in the official Brand New thread in the General forum back in the day, when they leaked. I basically made a mix of a bunch of different songs and linked people to it. Everyone downloaded it because they thought it was the actual album. It was hilarious. Good times.
I don't like The Dangerous Summer and Lights is just alright. I think I've just grown out of pop punk at this point, though I still love all the old albums. I throw them on in the car sometimes and enjoy listening to them.

I have the Holiday EP which has a demo of Logan. I also have a collection which has demos of Last Chance to Lose Your Car Keys, Magazines, The Moleman remix of Soco, The Quiet Screaming (Legion of Doom Dashboard remix), the Sic Transit demo that has organ in it.
Turns out I unknowingly had this demo on iTunes. Weird. I also have a few YFW demos. I want more Deja ones though.

While looking for Deja demos, I came across some acoustic versions of The Quiet Things and Sowing Season. Looks interesting.
Damn, The Quiet Things No One Ever Knows sounds amazing acoustic.

Nah, man. That remix is awesome.
I love Your Favorite Weapon when I'm cleaning for some reason. I think it's that summery feeling it gives me, gets me energised. Also I love it when I'm travelling long distances.
Other times, less so.
EDIT - Apart from Jude Law and Seventy Times 7, I fucking love those songs.

Okay, okay, funny story: I went out with a friend and got really wasted on my birthday this Tuesday and we passed by this 24-hour tattoo shop, so I had this brilliant idea that it was the ABSOLUTE perfect time for me to get my Brand New tattoo. Un/fortunately, the 24-hour tattoo shop was closed. Go figure.

Oh, definitely. Alcohol inhibits coagulation. However, that's not what would've bothered me, though - I just wouldn't have been clearheaded enough to gauge if that place was sanitary or if the artist was good enough.

By far the best lyrics Jesse has written. Perhaps apart from "Play Crack the Sky" and parts of "Limousine."

Sounds pretty cool. I thought I heard a few more things in there, but I didn't watch the whole thing yet.
If I had to guess, I'd think that was probably some form of the demo version of it. I firmly believe the Millstone alternate was actually just a mastered demo of Millston, much like Brothers or Luca (Reprise,) because it has that raw, unfinished feel to it (like using the same chorus isntead of the alternating ones, etc.) Maybe they did that with some others that weren't released, or something. But whatever it is, it sounds really cool.
Man, this band is almost a struggle for me to get into, I've had the song "Soco Amaretto Lime" for ages, and love it, I picked up a couple of their albums the other day "Daisy" and "Deja Entendu", and I've listened to them from start to finish, and none of it is really standing out to me at all, though I am slowly starting to enjoy some of their stuff.. it's just taking a while.
Have they any material in a similar vein to Soco Amaretto Lime? Or is it all Jimmy Eat World-esque (Clarity) stuff asides from that?
