The Jonbenet (http://www.thejonbenet.com) are working on putting out a 7" in the future. A demo version of the song "Devils" and a cover of Marilyn Manson's "1996" will be on it.

their name makes me think of that little girl that got murdered that the press made such a big deal about just because she was white, rich, and good-looking.

More than likely, the name of the band is influenced by JonBenét Patricia Ramsey:

"(August 6 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_6), 1990 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990) – December 25 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_25), 1996 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1996)) a child beauty pageant queen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beauty_contest) who was found murdered in the basement of her parents' home in Boulder, Colorado (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boulder%2C_Colorado), United States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States), eight hours after being reported missing. The case drew national attention when no suspect was charged and suspicions turned to possible family involvement. The tantalizing clues of the case have inspired numerous books and articles that attempt to solve the mystery."

...especially since they're covering Marilyn Manson's "1996" and that's the year she was killed. I can't say she was good looking however, because she was only six years old, and that's not my thing. ;)

ah well, guess the theory/coincidence was an over-zealous attempt to make their band name interesting haha.

_______________

I applaud you for this response.

I cannot imagine the horror of those parents at the death of their child, followed by the worsening grief of being accused of her murder. This is not a thin to joke about, nor is something that one should vent their class envy about.

WTF is the music scene coming to when bands are recording covers of Marilyn Manson songs?

Fact: Marilyn Manson put out better records than 92% of the bands covered on this site

"Mechanical Animals" is a flawless record

I too enjoyed Mechanical Animals (as well as his earlier works) but you can't say that Golden Age... was a good CD. He's a complete sell-out now & I wouldn't compare his music to the bands on this site as the styles are completely different. This site covers mostly rock/hardcore/punk and the million new sub-genres that have spawned underneath those main three in the past few years.

Anyways, I think we were more shocked that one of the trendy new-age bands would be covering Marilyn Manson, it's more of a humorous thing than an insulting thing. I still have a lot of respect for what Manson did early in his career, but of course think he's lame now (not because of any trend, but because of his selling out and his addictions).
