At Target today there were like 100 copies of this, and no TEN or anything. Drive-thru should push some of their other releases, too.

the reason hgb sold more than ten wa sbecause 11 songs is easier to digest over 46 tracks. and hgb has just enough songs to keep the poppy kids enjoy them and sing along, where as you actually have to listen to ten.

There was a lot more promotion from DT for Hellogoodbye than TEN. Hellogoodbye on TRL helped them a lot. In terms of Drive Thru doing well, this is pretty much it unfortunately. They built up to this release with David Melillo and Halifax and then TEN and now the big one, HelloGoodbye. Congrats to them on their success, but I just see this as the pinnacle of success for DT for awhile. Not too much to look forward to. The next 2 cds are the House of Fools ep and HIPV. HIPV will do ok, but I don't see great numbers coming from.

making albums is what bands do.

yeah but for the bands still on dtr, it seems like drive thru is pushing them to all release albums this year maybe in an effort to regain everyone else's confidence in dtr, if that made any sense

in my opinion, the hgb cd is pretty good, but i liked the ep better. and after waiting so long to hear a full length from them, i was kinda disappointed when half the album i had already heard like a year ago from the demos (all time lows, homewrecker, touchdown turnaround, i saw it on your keyboard, two weeks in hawaii). i think this album had alot more potential then it came out to be and i hope dtr didnt rush them to get it done.

i dont think drive thru could afford as much promotion for TEN because of the deal made to keep the triple disc album at a single disc price. they were probably expecting more of a profit from promoting hellogoodbye's album than TEN.

_sp
08/16/06, 05:44 PM
the only reason TEN sold that many discs in the first weeks is because the promotional price was $10 or whatever the first week. hellogoodbye were the ones on the real world acting goofy and whatnot, they sold all those on their own. the ep went platinum right? of course its going be some rediculous debut numbers. comparing their sales to TENs is a little stupid though.

on another note, fuck drive thru. the only reason the have hgb to being with is because forrest was an intern at some point for them. stephanie and richard are trying to establish some credibility for themselves by signing bands that don't follow the same trends as all the bands that got them the status they currently hold like an angle or socratic. who suck. all the while they blow off bands like iata by not giving them a real video or even a decent tour with any label mates. these hgb numbers just mean that they'll exists a little longer and keep signing trash and holding back their talent.

Congrats to them they deserve it with all the touring they have done. This shouldnt surprise anyone since they sell out shows all the time and their crowds at Warped are one of the largest if not the largest for any band not on the main stage. I remember when they announced how many copies TEN sold and everyone was like HelloGoodbye wont come close to that. It makes me feel good to say I told you so to all you haters. HelloGoodbye rock on.

Big congrats to HGB & DTR!! I wore my DTR shirt prouldy tonight at the Mae show.
I hope the rumors of a TEN/HGB tour are true, both great bands in their own light.
Seeing how the HGB ep sold 80k or so, I would think that this full length cd should at least match this figure.

That's pretty wild considering that we've already known 7 (I count "Oh it is Love" because live versions of it have been floating the internet for almost a year and a half and I think it's on their DVD too) out of 11 songs on the CD for quite some time now *rolls eyes*

I've been following Forrest (not in a creepy way, as my name suggests) for a few years now and while I'm still a fan of them....seriously....what the hell? I just didn't hear a whole lot of effort from them on this CD.

I've seen TEN about 5 times and HGB about 4 and yes, TEN is my favorite band, but I get so frigain bored when I watch HGB. I bought the full length and since I neve went searching for the songs, it's all new material for me. The EP was def better. Also, HGB follows a more Panice at the Disco sound which is definately in right now. Plus the guys in TEN aren't stupid, they're planning a tour with HGB and 5k a week isn't bad, it's steady.

Someone said the HGB went platinum...platinum is 1,000,000 copies which HGB will never touch. I think this needs to get out there because it bothers me. TEN put out 3 disks which in technical terms mean they sold about 80,000 cd's their first week. Well, the reason they put out 3 is because they had 3 cd's remaining on their contract. Being the only band left from the DTR era where they dominated it's obvious they want off DTR. Richard was their manager at the time and this 3 disk would fulfill their contract and they could move on to a major where they belong. Well, Stephanie took over the reigns and changed the contract to where they have to put out another 2 cd's to fulfill their contract. All in all...fuck DTR. They don't promote their best band in my eyes(I Am the Avalanche) and they screwed TEN. I can see a Tony(Victory) and Stephanie(DTR) relationship in the future. They'd fuck over bands left and right and cause alot of contoversey on this lovely website.

And when you say because TEN was a triple disc, it essentially sold 80k, that is just foolish. If anything, a triple disc being sold at a single's price should sell more than 3x as many, so you might want to turn that x into a /.

No, I am almost 100% sure that the EP sold around 80k, might have been 88k but it didn't go near platinum, hell didnt even go near gold...but it did sell very well considering it was an ep. Odd though, I enjoy the EP a bit more than the full length though the full length is growing on me.

DTR must have made some type of agreement w/MTV. I have heard and have seen other posts on myspace about MTV playing Houston Calls, HIPV, Allister & other DTR bands on their shows (mostly on Pimp My Ride). I have heard TEN & Socratic on Dog the Bounty Hunter, that was pretty cool.
Though Pimp My Ride gives no muical credits/source whereas Dog The Bounty Hunter plugs the cd at the end of the show.

IATA is one of my favorite bands and vinnie is one of the best singer and songwriters i have heard in a while. since vinnie had matured so much between bands, IATA has taken over what the movielife could have been. i saw IATA on warped last friday in cleveland, and if they suck as much as you say they do, i have to wonder why i would see dudes from halifax, the sleeping, TEN, and gym class among others on stage supporting vinnie and the band. and IATA also has alot more talent and potential than any band on that label.

a) I loved the Movielife.
b) When I saw IATA in Cincinnati, they were atrocious, and the crowd was not into them at all.
c) To say they have the most potential on that label is kind of silly. I give them 1 more album (maybe) before they just give up.

you are a complete idiot and you have no idea what you are talking about (obviousy, because you can't even spell stefanie's name correctly. stop spreading rumors that aren't true!

ten didn't put out a triple-disc album to get out of their dtr contract, they put out a triple-disc album because they WANTED TO. it was ace's idea, and to be honest, dtr was taking a major risk letting them do something so out-there. luckily the whole thing turned out amazing and everyone loves it. at the ten record release show in CA, ace thanked drive-thru for being so awesome to them, and said anyone who talks shit about the label is just jealous.
