View Full Version : TV Comedy Troupes

This is a pretty simple question I'm a little curious about. Over the past few decades, there's been quite a few sketch comedy TV shows featuring improv troupes getting their big moments, normally only for a season or two, with a few having a fairly good run on television. So my question is: which is your favorite?
For the sake of argument, I'm not including Monty Python, SNL, or shows involving two or less main characters, simply because I feel it would be too one-sided if I did.

Granted, none of these shows were nearly as hilarious or groundbreaking as their non-televised stage shows were, but this poll is simply out of curiosity. My vote goes to The State. Michael, Michael, and David have such good chemistry.

God I love Mr. Show so much, but for this generation's sake, I'll have to go with Human Giant.

I felt the same way. I guess some types of comedy just don't age well.

The Kids in the Hall, hands down, no contest.
Whitest Kids You Know is a distant second.

whitest kids you know had one good season, and everything else after that has been pretty bad. Seriously, where is the love for Mr. Show? Easily the greatest sketch comedy series.

WKUK was funny for one season. Mr Show and the State are genius shows, so I'm assuming that the majority of the voters haven't seen them
