The Delegates (http://www.thedelegates.org) have called it quits. You can read a statement from the band regarding the split below.
It has been awhile since we did an update, so I thought I’d fill everybody in on what is happening with The Delegates. I wish I had really exciting news, some sort of extreme cross continental tour with all six of us crammed in a Honda civic, or a multigazillion dollar record deal that included not only the rock n roll, but the sex and drugs in the contract as well, but instead I have the unpleasurable task of informing you that we have decided to take an indefinte “break.”
A lot has transpired in the past year, much of which has stifled our momentum and made the decision only slightly easier to reach. I would prefer not to go into details, but it has been a combination of difficulties with our record label, family tragedy, pending deportation, and the need to indulge new forms of musical variety that are not necessarily compatible with The Delegates musical format.
Despite these setbacks, we remain the best of friends and take pride in the way that we stuck together, the same 6 guys, through seven years of the strikes and gutters of "doin it ourselves" rock and roll. We have had some of the most incredible and unique experiences one could ever imagine and I know I will treasure and remember them forever. I should also add that we all intend to continue playing music, and maybe even together. Who knows? There could even be a Delegates reunion sometime down the road.
In the meantime, we want you to continue downloading the CD from Duble Plus Music (www.dubleplus.org). Keep checking back as well, because we intend to release other awesome bands’ music for free (with their consent, of course). We also intend to maintain the website (www.thedelegates.org) and the Myspace (www.myspace.com/thedelegates) to keep everyone abreast of what we are up to, be it musical, scholastic or criminal. (Karim has already begun a lucrative exotic pet importing business......so if anyone is in the market for an egyptian cobra....) To all our fans, and all our enemies, to everybody that ever said something like, “I hate ska, but I like you guys,” Thanks for the venom, thanks for the love. We'll see you soon.
