I'm writing a piece about funerals and death, so I'm putting together a mix to 'set the mood' (yes, morbid, i know)

Suggestions? Manchester Orchestra's Sleeper 1972 is a starting point.

I've told people if I die for whatever reason, I have two requests for my funeral: One, no one must cry, everyone should smile and celebrate my life. Two, this song must be played at full blast at all times: a5BjIVS04jk

i'm going to recommend songs that fit funeral themes for me, on complete, polar opposite ends of the spectrum.

sufjan stevens - "casimir pulaski day"
isis - "in fiction"

the former mostly because of the lyrics, the latter mostly because of the music.

Personally, I want an organ version Death of a Disco Dancer by the Smiths, or a song by Death Cab for Cutie, just because their songs are so moving

Suggestions? Manchester Orchestra's Sleeper 1972 is a starting point.

Bob Dylan - Forever Young, It's all over Now Baby Blue
Dawes - When My Time Comes
Shins - Past and Pending
The Faces - If I'm on the Late Side
The Kinks - Strangers
Jim James and Calexico - Goin' to Alcapulco
The Flaming Lips - Do you Realize??
Built to Spill - Life's a Dream
The Byrds - Turn, Turn, Turn
The Beatles - Ob-la-di, ob-la-da
Black Keys - The Lengths
CCR- Long as I can see the light

This list encompasses different emotions of death, but it's what I got on my list so far.

I'm gonna get cremated and put somewhere too. Then, instead of wasting money on a useless casket (5-$10,000) I'm going to put it towards renting the floor of hotel and a near-by bar for anyone that wants to celebrate my life rather than mourn my passing.
