All you film noir fans take notice. Can't wait to see this; hopefully it gets a wider release.
Escaping the monotony of a loveless marriage, Raymond Yale becomes entangled in an affair with the beautiful and troubled Carla. Ray's moral limits are tested when Carla presents him with the proceeds of her controlling husband's latest crime. This is their chance: Take the money and run... If only it were that simple.

From the trailer it looks like it could be too "on-the-nose" but I'll definitely see it.

Leaked about 6 months ago. Dunno about film noir, but I'll see it (eventually).

This looks excellent. Kinda reminds me of Before the Devil Knows You're Dead.

This film proved to me something I never thought needed proving... stuntmen shouldn't direct.

Movie was not very good + the director (Nash Edgerton) has been a stuntman for the past 17 years = my statement

No, I understood you, I just thought it was weird that a stuntman directed it — though I guess it's probably not too strange.

He's directed 8 short films and a music video. To say he's just a stuntman would be a bit ignorant. Anyone can direct and should if they feel so inclined to.

I don't think that's what I said, I stated that the film was of poor quality... then stated that it wasn't surprising it was done by a lifelong stuntman.

I misunderstood. It sounded as though your statement was that stuntmen shouldn't direct.

Totally forgot I had made this thread.
Anyway, FINALLY got around to watching this last night and really liked it; it totally kept me guessing and I wasn't expecting how any of it panned out.
Now I just need to get to Red Hill and Animal Kingdom, which I have a feeling both will be better than this.

I watched Red Hill last weekend. Its good, but there is a point where the movie really falls flat. Basically, a reimagining of Training Day, but put in a small town.
I need to watch Animal Kingdom also.

Animal Kingdom is better, but still adheres to too many Hollywood drama conventions to be great.
