Head Automatica - Popaganda

What the fuck happened to these guys? I had such high hopes for this record. It's like these lost all their energy and decided to replace fuck dancey hooks with boring repetitive pop-shit. I can only hope that glassjaw's new release makes up for this let down.

Sound Of Animals Fighting - Lover, The Lord Has Left Us..

What a huge huge let down. They took all the creative influences, crammed it onto one CD, and didn't even take the time to listen to it. The long drawn out techno break downs and the lady singing.... wtf were they thinking?

Thursday - A City by the Light Divided

Ok, it wasn't a horrible release, but it wasn't what I expected. From the way they were hyping it I expected something revolutionary. When it reality it's just another solid Thursday album....nothing more or less.

Feel free to add to the list.

Agree 100% with you, and I add AFI to the list.

I don't really have an opinion on the quality of your list, but I do think it is somewhat humorous that your list of "Horrible releases this year" includes a release from last year and a release that you say is not a horrible release. Only 1/3 of the list actually fits the title...

uh no, they all came out this year. Thursday and Sound of Animals both came out in May, Head Auto was June.

But yeah, I agree with Head Auto and Thursday. both were terrible, but then again I've never liked Thursday. The SOAF was great though. Especially when you're tripping balls.

Sing The Sorrow was the second worst release. I can't stand when punk bands try to use synthesizers unless it is for comedic value.

thursday's latest was 2nd to "war all the time" in my books....i don't understand (other than sentimental reasons) why full collapse is considered their best....4 or 5 of the best songs they've ever written are on CBTLD
edit: the production was shitty on some songs, but works on more than they get credit for

just for the record you realize the last time AFI played real punk rock was about the time during answer that and stay fashionable. seriously they changed on every album black sails they decided to try out metal and goth, the art of drowning clearly side with a gothic rock approach. i dont get why people dont see that they are going to keep changing.

i always thought that it was because AFI fans tend to think "pure/good" AFI is the release they started listening to them on. For example, a lot of my friends never listened to AFI before Sing the Sorrow and they go on and on about how AFI is a bunch of sell out tools with decemberunknown, where one of my other friends has been listening to them since answer that, and everything after that sucks.

This is not necessarily true. My first AFI was Answer That And Stay Fashionable, but that is by far not my fav by them. I really liked Art of Drowning and All Hallows, but when they started using that synthesizer I was just crying. I just think their new stuff is too soft.

I didn't say that the New Thursday is garbage....just not ground breaking like they proclaimed it would be. It has it's moments though.

And whoever it was that put The Format, TEN, Breaking Benjamin, and Korn in one post....what the fuck is wrong with you? Get better music taste. Dog Problem is great and Korn will always suck dick for coke.

The new Thursday, there's 2 tracks on it that I can listen to by themselves and think 'fuck, that's awesome' (other side and lovesong writer) but the rest I can only get into when I listen to the whole album.

I don't own many albums like that so it's a difference but I kind of miss songs like Asleep in the Chapel/

The first three tracks are great, but it's really pretty boring after that.

Feel free to add to the list.

Forgive Durden - Wonderland

There's like 4 incredible songs, but most of the rest is bad. I really liked them, but this album was a huge disappointment. They are trying way too hard to be unique, original, and not pop-punk.

you guys hate on a lot of CDs that i actually enjoyed :-/ head automatica i don't listen to a lot but it's a fun CD; TBS's new CD, while not great, has two or three wicked catchy songs, i like singing twenty twenty surgery; AVA wasn't a huge let down despite all of tom's hype, i liked that a lot; forgive durden, while essentially being GAD, gave a good debut with Wonderland; the new GAD was great...

the only two of these albums i agree being bashed are the new Format (honestly. what the fuck.) and the new TSOAF (the heretic aside... honestly. what the fuck!)
