Vampires Everywhere! - Lost in the Shadows
Record Label: Century Media Records
Release Date: April 13, 2010

Who?

Despite taking their name from The Lost Boys, Vampires Everywhere! have more in common with Twilight. Much like how that film is an insult to real monster movies, the California sextet is a poor excuse for a post-hardcore band. For reasons I’ll never understand (or perhaps just the almighty dollar), respected metal label Century Media signed these self-described outcasts. Lost in the Shadows, the group’s debut EP, features their first two songs: "Immortal Love" and "The Embrace".

How is it?

Vocalist Michael Vampire (the other members go by equally laughable monikers) used to sing for the pop punk band Love, She Wrote. Now that the genre is no longer marketable, he has hopped on the latest trend. His new vocal style includes screams and cheesy, auto-tuned vocals. Listeners over the age of 15 need not apply. The worst thing about about Vampires Everywhere! is not the music itself or even that they seem to put more effort into applying their make-up than writing songs, but rather the fact that the gimmick will undoubtedly sell. If this junk is passable as music these days, the world is in dire need of a Van Helsing to exterminate these Edward Cullen wannabes.

Team Edward is the best RIYL I have ever seen. No way Team Jacob would go for this.

Want to start a band called Team Jacob? Doesn't matter what we sound like; as long as we wear enough make-up and have a name like that, we'll get a record deal.

So glad you put this out there. Mad props. By the way that last line. Golden. You need to review more. God bless this review.

I'm down. I'll be the hype man. I'll wear guyliner and hop around the stage and stick my hand out for all the 13 year old girls in the front to high five. After about a month of that, we'll have enough money to call it a career. :vampire:

Haha thanks! I was quite proud of that last line. It's been difficult trouble finding things that inspire me enough to write to take the time to write a review during my busy semester, but this one was a no-brainer (in more ways than one).

The RIYL is terrible. And the review was pretty good. Short, but enough and to the point. I actually like this style of review. The "who?" part familiarises me with the band if I never heard of them. Cool.
To me, this is kinda sad. The music is supposed be meaningful to the performer. And if the band feels solely about money/conforming to the latest trend, then I'm losing hope.

Confirms everything I had assumed from the name and album title/seeing their ad in Alterantive Press. Haha.

Genius. Thomas, scratch the Team Edward band. That market is over-saturated. We're starting the werewolf genre!

There is a cool psychobilly band called The Young Werewolves. Here (http://www.horror-101.com/?p=564) is a review I wrote for their last album a couple years back.

Werewolves Everywhere. Definitely has potential. We'll grow ferocious beards and we might have to jump on that Taylor Lautner ab workout and get some jorts but it'll be worth it.

Way ahead of you on the beard front. Abs might take some time though.

I recently started growing out my beard right after spring break. Hoping I can get a couple solid months in before I have to shave it for a job/necessity to not look so homeless.

How can this be 44% when clearly its 666%... Duh... So Broootal! The autotune chorus is one of the toughest things I've ever heard. These guys are revolutionary. The first all vampire band. I wonder if they play during the day? Looks like no warped tour for them.... Sorry kids.

worst band of life. i'm pretty solid friends with a couple of the dudes in the band too. makes me sad every time i see them post a status update on facebook about the band. even if they do think it's cheesy (which i don't think they do...i think they're pretty serious) and are hoping to just make quick money and "retire," they're wrong. band's don't make money, especially new bands; labels do. the "music industry" (what a joke...) makes me sick. i hate it.

i hope for their sake i'm wrong and they make bank...but they wont. nor do any bands. if you're making a teacher's salary (40k a yr), you're doing pretty dang awesome.

this review was the most refreshing thing i've read on this website in months. thank you.

This. Lyrics too high, vocals too high. 5 should be considered "average", imo. Nothing special about this dude with all that autotune.

Nothing special = average = 5

I agree I was a little easy on the scoring, to be honest. Looking back, my reviewer tilt and lasting value should have been a 2. But I think the review speaks for itself.

just went to their myspace to listen. watched about half of the music video, came to a few conclusions:

1. similar to I Am Ghost in the whole we are gothic vampires way
2. their auto tune is on WAY too high
3. the girl in that video is really hot
4. like seriously really hot.

i d strongly with this the band themselves doesnt in the least like the twilight trend and we're undead before the trend.
i thought the ep was pretty awesome and got more of an appriation for them seeing them on sacred ceremony tour
they band themselves stay in touch with fans and are very nice people as far as ive experinced and dispite the enitre vampire hatred most of us have aquired beacuse of the terrible twilight crap, i wish people would cut them some slack they're incredibly talented and i for one thought this EP was amazing

why would people people arguing over a band? so there sell outs big deal. nearly every band out there is a sellout so deal with it. all bands do and copy each others genre and make repetitive breakdowns.
seriously wheres the originality ? . these vampires everywhere songs arent that bad.
there actually pretty good to me. what so they would be a good band if they were full of nothing but useless repetitive breakdowns . im sick of bands that wear out a good thing.
at least this band doesnt over do the breakdown thing.
i didnt like the vocoder vocals at first then i ended up liking them.
