I just started listening to this (on episode 2 now) and am really enjoying it. I'm planning on listening to all the episodes, but I wanted to know what everyone's favorites are.

Been listening to it since it started. Hilarious. I'm listening to the newest one as I type this.
My favourite moment is from episode 76 (The Great One), near the end. Most of it can be heard/seen here. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcTa0AfqcXQ&playnext_from=TL&videos=jO_D0gJOg8M)
This one is really funny as well. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iu6nbpnEQOw&playnext_from=TL&videos=GNgAab-V6sA)
Loves me some Kevin Smith.

Wow, there's really no thread? Been listening since episode 30 or so. Hands down the best is #57 - Terrorist Pizza, I've listened to it at least 20 times, no joke. Another great one is #46 - Mr. Deaves Goes to Town. You should check out Bry and Walt's podcast, Tell 'Em Steve Dave!, as well. These guys are just fun to listen to.

So far (2.5 episodes) it's been funny but not hilarious, does that change as it goes on?

Again, I think Terrorist Pizza is fucking non-stop hilarity. But maybe that's just me.
"This is how the holocaust started, eh? Hitler and his buddies in a beer hall sending pizzas to some Jews, they thought it was funny, and then what? Ovens! And not pizza ovens! I gotta take a stand!"
Galedeep

The first time I remember laughing hysterically at it was...I can't remember the exact episode number, but I think it was somewhere in the 30s. It was where they were answering listener questions and one of them and the answer they gave just killed me.

"He didn't want those pizzas, eh?! He didn't want 'em!"
"Those pizzas are going to go to waste! There's people in parts of the country that fuckin' really needs that pizza."
"You're ruining it for everybody! No, I don't care! It ends now! You're acting like you're in the fucking States, eh?! It ain't right! You people have no fucking heart! That ain't hockey."
"THIS IS FUCKING CANADA!"

Hilarious podcast. Currently listened to all up until Terrorist Pizza, and they're awesome. Love the Malcolm Ingram appearances, and I love how Mosier has really come into his own after being largely the silent sidekick the first couple episodes

Listened to all 100+ 3 times all the way through, hahah. Love me some KS but Mose is what really keeps me coming back. Love Mosier man. And Dan, wait until he has a couple guests on like Bryan and Walter -- the stories they tell about from their childhood are some of the funniest shit you'll ever hear man.

That will be a hilarious trend throughout the show, hahaha. Kev has gotten himself into some absurd situations and Mosier is your very average cat (like you or me) that went to film school and met the right people. But that's the awesome dynamic, imo, is the ridiculousness v. Mos the straight-man, essentially. When you get to a couple eps w/ Bry, his stories match Kevin's and in many ways surpass. He is a gross dude, haha.

Love love love this whole series, have listened to most of them a few times each. I definitely agree that Mosier is what sets it over the top. I'm really enjoying Tell em Steve Dave so far as well.
One of my absolute favorite ones is when Bryan is telling the story about messing around with his girlfriends mom and is super adament that he doesn't fuck her, but then later on Tell em Steve Dave he finally admits that he did. Just remembered its episode 84 Outbreak, the outbreak sign at the quickstop had me rolling.

The one where Kev talks about blowing a dude to save a bank full of people, and the clip getting shown on the news is fucking hilarious, but it gets even better when in one of the 'live' Smods after the book came out, they reread the scene, but playing opposite roles/ Mos kills it both times, so funny.
I haven't listened to Tell 'Em Steve Dave yet, hopefully I'll get some time this summer to check it out. As it is I barely have time to keep up with Smod each week.

Walt: Now he can live his own life, get someone else to jerk him off, a girl to jerk him off.

Nah, just hit SMod 99 with Schwalbach. I know they talked about it during "The Talking Cure" and how it was hard on them, and I know Kev has talked a lot more about getting high, but to hear him say, after almost a year, that he basically needed the weed to get him through the day is pretty crazy.

Got a question Sean... off topic of the pink limpy.
I'm interested in buying a monitor. When I got to school I'm going to be transitioning to a netbook, something light with good battery life that I can take around with me, use in class etc. But I also want a good size monitor that I can leave at home to plug in to when I wanna watch a movie from my netbook and use hulu. Any suggestions? Specs I should be aware of?

06/29/10, 10:59 AM
Do you have a size preference? Beyond that, Dell's UltraSharp series is great, as well as Samsung's SyncMaster. Specifications to look for are going to be:
-aspect ratio (most come in 16:10, you using it for a bit of film and television, you're going to want one in 16:9 aspect ratio)
-a monitor that has the brightness ability to get to 300-400 cd/m^2
-don't let "contrast ratio" throw you for a loop. each and every manufacturer uses a different scale for this, so definitely take them with a grain of salt
-viewing angle is a big thing for me, not sure if that'd really affect you at all or not if it's basically going to just be you using it
-sound quality out of the in-monitor speakers on the cheaper-end monitors can be abysmal, so that's something to look for
-resolution -- this one is pretty obvious. i think you know the difference between 720p, 1080i, 1080p, so i won't go into detail here
those are really the big things. if you start to narrow it down, let me know, and i'll try to help guide a bit more

Cliche as shit, but it was one of the better nights of my life in recent memory. They threw a massive wrench in the whole thing and did ALL FIVE cats on stage for one monumental Smod 'em Steve Dave!. They went for 2 hours and 15 minutes man and then Kev, Bryan, and Walter came out after a 15 minute break and did a live Highlands, which was also pretty gnarly. Told the full legend of Walt Flanagan's dog for the first time to send the night out.
It was a blast, though, man ... I really had fun and my old lady (who I was nervous would be bored and mortified, haha) had a great time as well. Well worth the money. And it was sold out, so I'll be interested in downloading and listening as well whenever they get it up. BQ had a Wu-tang shirt on which was gnarly and we all got signed #1 of The Widening Gyre ... not that that really means shit lol

I've been catching up on Smodcast recently and I forgot how much I love not live Smod. I haven't listened to "Batmensch" yet, but "Rawstralia" and "Limmortality" were hilarious. Definitely some of the funniest in awhile.
I'm also behind on Tell Em Steve-Dave, so I think I'm going to try and knock out a couple of those 2 hour pods today and tomorrow...that new one is 3 and a half hours though....that's insane, haha.
Don't worry, I wont spoil it, but you probably won't listen to the last hour and a half or so of it.

Is Tell 'Em really as funny as Smod?
Funnier. Waaaay more entertaining, imo.

I dig the live ones, but I really agree. The last 3 or 4 that have been regular SMods have been amazing. Scott's timing is way better in a not-live setting.
The last hour is just the Houston show uncut, so it's really only 2.5 hours.
I LOVE how long TESD! go. I wish they would go for 5 hours every single week. People at the View Askew board are constantly complaining about it but I think the reason why it is so great is because they go for so long and it's to the point for me where if they were to go for like 60 minutes, I'd be pissed off, haha.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I like the live ones too, but after hearing so many of them in a row, it makes me love regular SMod so much more.
Also, I like that Tell Em goes long too, I don't mind it at all, I just wish I still had time to listen to them all the way through instead of having to pause them and come back later.
Stoked to hear the SMod with Anderson.

I got into hockey at the end of last season, so it's been nice to listen to Pucknuts and get some more info on the sport. I haven't listened to the newest one yet and I'm a few episodes behind on Tell Em Steve Dave....what else are they going to be doing?

Totally man ... I hope that's what it is. 100% less Quinn, you might say!
Used to be really into SModcast, but I don't think I've listened to a new one in at least a year.
Still good?
Edit: Walt has his own podcast now? Interesting, always dug his contributions on SModcast, I'll have to check that.
Downloaded the first three episodes of 'Tell 'Em Steve-Dave!' and some random new SModcasts (none of the live ones, seems like all the new ones are live with an audience? don't know how I feel about that.) Is "Highlands" worth checking?

If you're a fan of the crew, they're pretty much all worth checking out. I haven't gotten around to checking out Blow Hard (Malcom's podcast) yet, but even the one episode of Hollywood Babble-on that I listened to was great.
Also, the live SMods are great too. It's not like the audience is really involved at all.
I have two weeks off school so I'm just downloading all 38 SMods from 2010, all of the Tell 'Em Steve Dave casts and all of the Highlands. ~having a life~

The only problem I have with live SMods is that the sound is very hit or miss. Sometimes it's unbearable. Some early ones from SModcastle were like that, but stuff's evened out quite a bit.
Hollywood Babble-on is great, despite the fact that Ralph Garman is an unfunny toolbag. Kevin Smith brings out something in him I've never seen... humor!
Blow Hard is great. Malcolm is such a hard-headed asshole, and it's funny seeing Kevin bust his balls over it.
Highlands and Steve-Dave are my current favorites. The great thing about Highlands is that Bry, Walt, Kev, etc. find a way to get nostalgic without making you feel excluded. You as a listener feels as if you are remembering the "good old days."
Hahahaha, oh my, so good. Mos keeps saying why would the parents let that happen and then Kev turns it into the parents are the ones locking him in.

56. It's called "And Now A Word From Our Sponsor"
One of my all-time favorite episodes. Fucking amazing.
Also, Jake, you're in for a treat listening to Tell 'em Steve Dave! all the way through from the beginning. Really some of the funniest stuff I've ever, ever heard or seen. And you can tell their progression since the first episode. It's really incredible stuff. Just hearing Walt laugh is heartwarming in a sense.
Yeah, I'm planning on going all the way through, two-episodes in so far. Love hearing Walt/Bryan in an atmosphere without Kevin, good stuff. And I agree, Walt's laugh is really nerdy but whatever, it's great.

Yeah. He fucking LOVES SWS and Tracy was very obviously 100% committed. Quite interesting.
Yeah, totally. I think Seann actually passed on Hit Somebody, too, which is super disappointing considering the film was being written for him. On the next Babble On he's going to reveal his lead, I believe.

what EP is this #143? on Smodcast?
I know he made a reference to it on the most recent Jay and Silent Bob get old but was a quick remark in regards to Mewes not being able to watch Firefly anymore because of the one girl being a huge bitch to him LOL
-Aaron-
11/06/10, 12:17 PM
Yeah on Jay and Silent Bob he mentions how he can't watch any of the Die Hard movies now, even though he was in one of them. I wish he wouldn't hold back about all that so a real story about the dickhead that is Bruce Willis would come out.
SWS passed on Hit Somebody because Kevin said it wouldn't be until mid 2011 before shooting. Another hockey movie asked him to star/lead so he took it. Can't really blame him.
oh so you were talking about the little part on Jay and Silent.
I thought he went in depth on like Smodcast about it or something
at least John Goodman seems kind of cool even though Smith is affraid to approach him on set and geeks out. LOL

It was just a super brief sentence or two on the latest non-live SMod, I believe. I'm still behind on Jay and Bob, so I didn't know he even mentioned it there.

I want more Peep Hole.
Also Blow Hard has been entertaining with that lesbian chick on there. I find it ironic that she sounds like Drew Barrymore since Malcolm hates Barrymore so much.
oh and, Puck Nuts won't last another month if the Devils keep playing like they are. None of them watch other teams enough to carry a show if the Devils play horrible.
