This is similar to the hey, let's go on a date thread but this one is all about finding people from AP to go to concerts with. This probably won't work but I know myself and many others don't go to shows sometimes because they have no one to go with so instead of going alone, go with a fellow APer.

This isn't for a long time but I am going to see A Loss For Words, Transit, and Such Gold on June 25th in Milwaukee, WI if anyone around the area would like to accompany me.

it does make a difference, if you have to travel a pretty long distance to get to the concert. i've missed quite a few shows just because of that aspect. it can get really expensive. and in most cases i would have to take the train anyway, but would probably miss the last train back home if i was to stay for the entire concert. if you have people around you, you can however just hang out that night and take the first train in the morning.

I guess I've never really had to worry about that because I, uh, drive a car. I've driven up to 10 hours one way for a show and flown out to shows before (but that was with my dad, not DIY). Drives up to 2 hours or so, I'll drive back that night. If it's over three hours then I'm definitely looking out for a place to stay.

Same here man, But we're lucky, We have Chain Reaction down the street, Glasshouse 20 minutes away and a bunch of other venues.
So I can see how it would suck going by yourself If you don't live in an area that's like that, Especially If it's a couple hours drive.

I think a better idea would just be to add a seperate sub-forum of "Concerts" and if people are going to a show/want to talk about a show they can post that particular date "The Wonder Years 4/26" in there, then people can look for it. No one is going to search through 50 pages (assuming this thread gets that popular) looking for one person going to the Man Overboard show in Bumble, Kansas.

On that note if anyone is going to that Wonder Years show in Elgin, IL on 4/26 and wants to give me a ride back to Chicago I will pay for your gas.

i don't really see why people come in here and bitch about why people don't just go alone. like who cares if they want to go with someone? i enjoy going to shows with friends if possible. me and my one friend always go to shows together. and if a show came to town and my friend didn't like the bands then i would drag my friend to it and they do it likewise. i'm probably going to get yelled at for posting in this thread because i have a concert buddy already. but i am actually posting to see if people want to go to shows in pittsburgh PA i'm open to new music and meeting new friends.

I went to the Manchester Orchestra show a few weeks ago. I didn't have anyone to go with, but my mom and her boyfriend love them...so they came. One of the most awkward things ever.

Nope. TRS is doing a headlining show, it's an off date from their tour with Goo Goo Dolls. That sucks though man, lol.

There are only a handful actually in Gainesville. The Fest is a huge thing, a punk rock festival that takes up a whole weekend and people come from all over to go. MCS is by far the biggest show to come through. Seems like more bands will go to Tallahassee since it's kind of on the way out of the west side of the state....I saw Wonder Years with Man Overboard there and there were a few more I could have gone to. Luckily Orlanod and Jacksonville are less than 2 hours away from me which is where everyone goes. It's a bit longer drive from FSU (Ithink Orlando is almost 4 hours) but it's worth it if you can spend the weekend.

I'd rather go alone than go with someone who doesn't really want to be there, but I'd rather go with someone else who also appreciates the band we're seeing than go alone. I've gone with people who wanted to leave early, or I have to constantly talk to them to entertain them because they're not really interested in seeing the band.

Oh ok. I'll just be driving down to Chicago for the day. I live in Madison so its like a 3 hour drive down and then we'll be driving back up after the concert probably unless we decide to stay the night at a hotel or something. What are your plans for it?

I think we're trying to drive to Chicago Friday afternoon/night and party, see SoCo, party/shop on Saturday, and then go home Sunday afternoon. It's about a 5 hour drive for me.

Right now its just me and my 2 friends but we might be meeting some other friends there. The school I go to only has 10 week classes so we get out in June but don't start Fall classes until the end of September. The summers are awesome but the Spring quarter always drags on for days.

Wish I had a place that would work for that. Arrange concerts at your own place, then even small entrance fees pay for it. That would be the shit. I live in a house converted to four apartments, unfortunately, so I'll just have to find someone with an established rep.

7th Street is definitely one of the smaller venues in Minneapolis. Really small and intimate. I love it.
