This year is such a toss up since no one has truely dominated this season. I'm a hardcore Bulls fan and I believe they'll give the Cavs a run for their money since LeBron has been sitting for like 2 weeks. Regardless, I don't want LeBron winning a title ever. I give my blessing to the boys in blue and black. They have SOOO many good shooters to kick it out to. If they get hot, the title is the Magic's this year. I like LA too but they don't seem to have that firery intensity they had last season, they all seem to be trudging along without purpose.

For some odd reason, I think the Jazz pull it out. I guess it could be my homerism seeing how I lived pretty close to SLC my whole life until I joined the military back in 2004, so that could be it.
I guess this all depends on the availability of Boozer. Has anybody heard a time table on his oblique strain? I originally saw something about 1-2 weeks and then I've also seen something saying he will be playing tomorrow, kinda lost on that. Without Boozer, they will lose without a doubt but with him, I think they can put something together.

You're right I didn't. Don't think it matters. The NBA is continually getting worse from when it was great in the late 80s and 90s. Maybe a team like Oklahoma can save it.
The NBA in general is terrible. Any playoff sport is better than the regular season.

the 80s were probably the greatest years of the nba. in my opinion, the 90s were in no way great. sure, jordan's presence grew the league like never before. but the competition was pretty weak. if you put the lakers or spurs teams of this past decade in the 90s, jordan wouldn't have 6 rings. despite some flaws in the nba today, i think this decade has a lot of promise.
the regular season is too long. but i absolutely love the playoffs.

I disagree cause the Rockets in the mid 90s had one of the better teams ever and they didn't win when Jordan came back.
The 80s-90s are filled with hall of famers. Currently their are a few hall of famers and a bunch of stat sheet fillers cause no one plays defense.

i don't get where this is coming from. i think the NBA playoffs are great and enjoy them even when the Mavs aren't title contenders. I get the sense that this has to do with the Sixers sucking somehow, in that way i can understand. i care much less when my team isn't involved in the playoffs.

NCAA >>>>> good high school teams >>>>> NBA
Everything about the NBA is fundamentally wrong. There are maybe 15 players in the entire league that actually play defense. Half the league can't hit a jump shot and they're supposed to be the best of the best.
Has nothing to do with the Sixers. Loved watching the NBA in the 90s, now it is just garbage and from the looks of it, easily manipulated.

pshh...the 5,6,7,8 seeds are lucky they are in the playoffs. the east's bottom half is a complete joke. if any of those teams played out west, they would get their asses kicked. the 8th seed in the west has the same record as the 4th team in the east.

pshh...the 5,6,7,8 seeds are lucky they are in the playoffs. the east's bottom half is a complete joke. if any of those teams played out west, they would get their asses kicked. the 8th seed in the west has the same record as the 4th team in the east.
i think this years bottom half of the east is much better than years past

complete joke is taking it a bit far. but i agree, the west is much more competitive. i think everyone knows that.
not sure why you directed that argument towards me.
sorry if that sounded heated. i'm just mad that the lakers have to play the thunder in the first round, while the top seeds in the east have an easy first round. if you meant that the bulls were lucky to make the playoffs in that they barely beat out toronto, then yeah you're right. but in my opinion, the bulls are just as lucky as the bobcats, bucks, and heat for making the playoffs simply because they are in a weak conference (although the cavs and magic are legit teams).

not sure i agree. the bulls were much better last year. the bucks are without their center, and unless wade has a 2006-esque performance the heat are nothing to worry about for the celtics. i do like the bobcats in the playoffs though, i just think they could win maybe 1 game against the magic.

yeah, i know what you mean.
but the only 1st round match up out east that wont be close is the cavs-bulls. the other three will be very competitive and the lower seeds will put up a nice fight. not saying any of them will win, but it will be 3 exciting match ups.
and for the lakers, they should be able handle to thunder. okc has a lot of talent, but they are also very young and so is their coach. lakers should take it in 6.

so happy for JCrawford.
Every player on the Bucks just lets it fly if they get an inch of space.
Loved watching the NBA in the 90s, now it is just garbage and from the looks of it, easily manipulated.

i've heard this argument 1000 times from people who watch very little NBA basketball. And if you're going to try and tell me all college and high school players try and play defense, you're mad. NBA players come from SOMEWHERE, if they don't play d now, they likely didn't play it earlier in life.
and furthermore, people hate teams like the Spurs who are fundamentally sound and play great D, i hear more bad things about that team than good from people outside of san antonio. i guess you love them then.
i'm not sure what game you're watching, but it's not the same thing I am.

i dont think its fair to judge the bucks without bogut. they already pretty much locked up a playoff spot before he got hurt, they were just hit with extremely bad luck. the celtics have a lot to worry about because they have been playing like absolute shit for the 2nd half of the season. the bobcats are one of the best defensive teams in the league and stephen jackson can carry them to one or two victories by himself with their very solid D. the bulls were lucky to get in with the raptors losing bosh. but i think the bottom 4 teams are very good overall

I can see the Bucks having the third or fourth best record next year in the East. The Hawks will lose Joe Johnson this offseason and the Celtics are slipping hardcore.

yes, absolutely love a team like the Spurs. There are teams that do it, but there are an astounding number of teams that don't.
This year, the best defensive team allowed 94 points and half the league allowed over 100.
Compare it to the early portion of this decade where only a handful of teams may have allowed over 100 points. Maybe it is because teams can get lazy with their half-ass attempts at modified zone defenses, but it is horrible.

i won't argue that defense has become less prominent now, but you'd be hard pressed to find a championship team in the past 10 years who didn't play good D.
yea teams like the Suns, Warriors and Mavs of old are no D teams, but why does that make it bad basketball? every sport evolves in different ways. just because the league is trending towards high scoring, less defensive games doesn't make it bad. there's always going to be those teams who play fundamentally and play good D, as well as there's going to be teams that try to outscore you.
Maybe if you want to argue that the players in the NBA have changed i wouldn't argue with you, but at the same time i wouldn't call it bad basketball, and def wouldn't be saying that College and high school is a better brand of basketball at all, because i just don't believe that's true.

LA is really locking down on defense. Thunder need to start making the open shots they get.
And Derek Fisher is such an enormous bitch.

Eh, first playoff game for them.. I think they'll do better at home, probably win 1. They're doing a lot better now, actually.
Bynum is the man. They're doing a decent job on Gasol, at least.
Westbrook looks like he can take Fisher whenever he wants. Won't be much longer before Fisher starts shoving him.

i don't get where this is coming from. i think the NBA playoffs are great and enjoy them even when the Mavs aren't title contenders. I get the sense that this has to do with the Sixers sucking somehow, in that way i can understand. i care much less when my team isn't involved in the playoffs.
but i honestly don't know why you think the NBA is terrible.
I do enjoy college ball more than the NBA but I agree with what you're saying. I think a lot of people's perception about the NBA in the tri-state area has to do with the horrible current state of the Sixers. There have been some really good games in these playoffs so far.
