I thought the same thing. I do like Cobra, but damn you Gabe WHY?!? I really hope Midtown isnt done for cause they were like me first favorite local band and then they got huge.

But, Ive heard break up rumors since last May and Midtown still hasnt officially said it or called for a "hiatus" so you never know. Maybe by 2008 something new will come of them. 2007 will be the year of Cobra Starship and maybe Heath still playing with Senses Fail and Rob DJing it up in NYC/I Surrender Records. Tyler?...... Plus midtownrock.com said something like "The band that was supposibly gone is back" talking about the Bastards of Young signing/ in store show at Vintage Vinyl on 6/6/06. Ofcourse that turned into only Rob and Tyler being there. Who knows?

if midtown is dead, a part of me will die. they are the band that got me into "this" genre of music and if they are gone, i'm gonna cry.

to be honest, i dont care all that much. there was a time when it seemed like i couldnt go to a show without midtown and/or my chemical romance opening. i was sick of both of them. but i would have rather seen midtown take off and mcr slide off into obscurity while gerard tried to start a dancepop group about reptiles.

Gosh, that Gabe is sooo punk man, he even went to hardcore shows when he was growing up! I love that he has to point out how punk/hardcore/DIY he is in every interview. I don't reeally give a shit...but still...it's annoying. There are a ton of bands who are punk/hardcore/diy...so he shouldn't think he's so special...or that he's "earned" a fucking thing, ya know?

Totally agreed. Between Save The World, Lose The Girl and Drive Thru's "You'll Never Eat Fast Food Again" (best drive thru comp EVER!) I was a changed man.

reading "former midtown frontman" and the beginning of gabe's response to the second question, "Midtown was a straight-up rock band...", my heart honestly sank. if midtown are really done, i don't know what i'm going to do. i can barely listen to "snakes on a plane" anymore without thinking of midtown and getting upset. if someone knows the truth, make your voice heard.

its because he is having some issues with his punkness right now and has to keep reassuring himself out loud and to the public at the same time that he is still real and legit. its a fact that he basically sold out with Cobra and has taken the money and fame over the more real route. greed does get the best of people though so its hard to blame him but people need to accept and realize that he did sell out. i feel bad for him, you can literally see him having him all these sell-out issues right now in interviews and in the public spotlight.

You have to laugh to learn that he wrote this song before he even knew the film Snakes on a Plane existed.

I think its interesting how at the end it says "Cobra Starship's Snakes on a Plane: The Album is out now, when they only have one song on there along with a bunch of stupid remixes of already released songs.

Thats Gabe's blog on friends or enemies. Here are a few select quotes that kinda shed some light on Midtown:

"dude, listen, i fucking love midtown. that's my baby and that's my heart and no one will take that away from me."

"it's really crazy to me how when we first released fwyk, NO ONE FUCKING GOT IT! and now everyone loves it. it's almost heart breaking. but things happen for a reason. cs is not the replacement. in my mind at least, nothing can replace midtown. but if cobras does well, i can spend the rest of my life putting out midtown records, making babies, and raping puppies."

Hope this helps.
For the record Midtown is my second favourite band, and I would be seriously gutted if they are done.

Hello kids,

I work at FHM and I'm the one who interviewed Gabe. Just to ease your mind, he never said definitively that Midtown is over. I got the feeling that he wanted to focus on Cobra Starship for awhile, which will have a different sound but punky roots.

Don't worry; Midtown will always live on in our hearts...and in our pants.

AMEN! i couldn't have said it any better myself. i was so bummed when they didnt end up play on 6.6.06. i mean yea the dvd is awesome and i met them at the signing once again but i was looking forward to seeing them play like good old times. i don't think gabe could turn his back on midtown, or any of the them for that matter. midtown will always live on and will always be my all time fav.
