They appear to have gone on an unofficial hiatus since around 2008. They released a great album called Cruel To Be Young, did a couple tours on that, and have since been inactive. It's another case of Tooth and Nail doing a pretty poor job of supporting their artists.

That's what happens when you let Jesus take the wheel...he's a pretty good Messiah, but he's clueless when it comes to marketing.

What else is new? Tooth and Nail always pulls this BS. They'd rather sign a million bands than focus on the talent they have (Emery, Secret and Whisper).

Look at what they just signed (http://www.myspace.com/writethisdown), ugh. Such a disgrace.

From the songs on that band's myspace, they don't seem any worse than most of the label's roster. They seem like how I would imagine a mix of Relient K and Emery actually. I could see them catching on.

Meh, I've been better. Unemployed for about a week (Palm Coast is the unemployment capital of the Nation, baby!) so I've been living off water and Hot Pockets while desperately searching for a job. My old job was torture though, so I'm enjoying waking up and not dreading the day.

They are overproduced like you wouldn't believe, check out the original version of Alarm The Alarm.

I hope you get a new job soon. I know it can be pretty challenging in this market. Are you looking for work in a particular industry/environment?

I've been pretty well. This last month of school is going to be pretty rough though because all of my professors seem to think they are the only ones on campus, so they give us a ton of papers all at once. Other than that I've been alright.

tbh if they kept what they had going in Alarm The Alarm I might have actually considered it. I studied up on them and pretty much every comment from every person who knew them locally said they had no talent. Listening to their old stuff I have to agree, you might as well have said the album was written by the producer and not the band.

Yeah, there's a few T'n'N bands that I like, I mean, I've been listening to MxPx for ages, so I've grazed from the roster here and there. I just don't like a large percentage of that roster.

What's a good comparison band for S&W?

So do I, my car broke down...so I need a car to get a job, need a job to get a car. :wallbash:

I've been working in restaurants and pizzerias for the past few years, but I'm kind of burned out on that industry. I've reached the highest point I really can without having a degree or my own business.

I may be getting a job working as a counselor for kids at a ritzy local hotel, and I haven't worked with kids in a while, so that would be a nice change. ::fingerscrossed::

Oh man, I always hated that. Why can't they space them out!? Tax Day, Easter and Christmas aren't on the same day, why should the Finals be!?

Good luck pulling through that, how much longer do you guys have in the semester?

I honestly don't think there are any bands that can replicate what they do all that great, but bands in the same vein are this (http://www.myspace.com/saosin) (S/T only), this (http://www.myspace.com/conditionsband), this (http://www.myspace.com/amystmusic), and this (http://www.myspace.com/allforgotten).

I worked for a pizza place for about a year and that job got old really fast. I can definitely understand getting fed up with that.

That counselor thing sounds pretty fun. My mom's an elementary teacher, and I always really enjoyed helping out with the kids at her school.

Good luck pulling through that, how much longer do you guys have in the semester? Seriously. Most of my classes aren't that much work through 90% of the semester, but once that final month hits everything just starts piling up.

I think we have to be out of the dorms at 10:00 AM on May 7th, so the end is in sight, if I can just get everything finished up, and convince myself to waste less time on the internet, haha.

Yeah, I've gotten to cook, shift manager, pizza-guy (is there an official term for them?), etc., so beyond owning my own store, I've kinda reached the ceiling, and the pay-rate isn't great.

I'd love that counselor job, though. My mom's an elementary teacher, too, and I like working with kids; as well, not to pat myself too hard, but I'm pretty good at it. In the summer camps the kids made a makeshift waiting list for kids who could switch into my group when one of my kids stopped showing up. (That was a sad summer, too. All the kids leaving one by one as their parents lost jobs and couldn't afford the camp/didn't need it anymore)

Yeah, for the stuff that managers have to do at places like that, they really don't get payed all that well. It's pretty discouraging.

I fell like I, in some ways, relate more with kids than my own peers and adults at times. Working with them really makes me miss how awesome and care free life was back in the day.

me neither. like cool if you love the j-man, but the whole screaming + religion thin doesn't really make logical sense to me. i dont do the whole religion thing, but i say all the power to you if you do.

also, tooth and nail SUCKS now. what ever happened to bands like Jonezetta, Ivoryline, As Cities Burn, Far-Less, The Juliana Theory, Further Seems Forever, Sullivan, Terminal... the list goes on and on. don't get me wrong, a few of my favorite bands are still signed there (i.e. the Almost, Emery, Number One Gun, Secret and Whisper. but thats it. i hope they don't turn into another Drive-Thru...

Tooth and Nail still has Joy Electric, MxPx, Neon Horse, Poema, Project 86, and Starfyer 59. I think that's enough to hold it above "suck" level.

Project 86 is probably my favorite current Tooth and Nail band. I love Andrew Schwab, both vocally and lyrically. As for Starflyer 59, they're far from the best shoegaze band out there, but they're not bad. Really, I'm just a fan of the Martin brothers.

I think the label is just doing what any label at its level would do: Trying to make money. That's just life, I suppose. It's not great, and it's maybe not even necessary, but it's pretty understandable. I don't see any reason to be angry at them for doing something so simple. Besides, if the stock bands are in a genre you like, you can enjoy them anyways, and if not, you can just ignore them.

good people,

hello from the french riviera!
it has been quite a while since you have heard from our ankle of the woods, and i thought a HELLO was long overdue

along our much needed break (hiatus) from the interstate: we have found at some point one needs to introduce a bit of normalcy into one's life...
to all of the wonderful genuine folks we have met along the way we owe a sincere Thank You

our plans for the future of Jonezetta are yet to be determined
