EOTC, Fang Island, or The Gay Blades......republic of wolves has yet to even play a live show, kinda skeptical about that band.

I'd say The New Pornographers, and As Tall as Lions. I don't hear Lydia of Person L at all.
And I think GTM have the ability to put out amazing albums, but I don't see them being "huge" in terms of popularity.

The melodic sense is very similar to Lydia and Person L. You want to say TNP and ATAL because they're both in that indie/power-pop niche, but in the sense of songwriting, they're more similar to Lydia and Person L.

I must say that I respectfully disagree with you, sir. I think it's also a stretch to say that Lydia and Person L are notably similar.

And I want to say TNP and ATAL, because their overall sound is very similar. Especially As Tall as Lions, a noted influence on the band.

note: And I have never heard anyone refer to As Tall as Lions as "Power-Pop."

That's what I said. Genre-wise, As Tall as Lions and TNP are closest to Gabriel the Marine. But in the sense of songwriting, melody and the arrangements in general, Gabriel the Marine is much closer to Lydia, or Person L. And you're saying that Lydia and Person L aren't very similar because you're only hearing genres, you're not hearing the songwriting styles that these writers have.

We are talking about a RIYL, not writing a thesis about song structure and music theory.
I understand what you mean about similarities in melody and arrangements, but using that logic you could say a person would like the Avett Brothers if they like Alesana, because they both use the same type of verse-repeating strophic form in a many of their songs.

So I'm wrong if I say someone who likes Leighton Antelman's pop sensibility would enjoy Gabriel the Marine?

You're not wrong, but its like saying (baseball reference alert!) that Mark Teahen is most comparable hitter in the league to Albert Pujols because they have a similar OBP (On-base %). It's one metric of comparison, but it's not necessarily the best in terms of giving someone an idea of how similar two hitters are.
(No matter what Billy Beane says.)

In considering who has the potential to rule the scene..I chose Envy.
However, I saw GTM over the summer and they were incredible..just no widespread acclaim coming their way (soon)
Fang Island will always be Pitchfork's favorites.
