Went to this show tonight in Richmond, all in all was a fun night, but songs off the new album accompanied with New Wave created some pretty boring breaks. I really tried to get into this new cd, but all in all (with the exception of a few songs) I just find it boring.... when compared with the older material its mind boggling how they ended up where they ended up. That being said, I still respect these guys alot, and no other band can control the crowd like they do, hearing the old stuff with everyone in the room shouting is just too much fun. One thing that I thought was kinda weird though... they have another person in the background that plays guitar and stuff.... so they now have three guitars, but he is kinda hidden in the back, he does other sound effects and stuff too.... I'm not really complaining, it was just a bit weird. Anyway here is the set:

High Pressure Low
New Wave
Don't Lose Touch
White Crosses
Suffocation
Pints of Guinness
Reinventing Axl Rose
I Still Love You Julie
Teenage Anarchist
Ocean
Because of the Shame
Miami
Sink Florida Sink
Up The Cuts
Rapid Decompression
White People For Peace
Thrash Unreal

Encore:
Amputations
Cliche Guevera
Walking Is Still Honest
We Laugh At Danger and Break All the Rules

Overall the crowd reaction was really good, it was the first packed richmond show I've been to in a while.... The crowd also seemed to really like the new stuff.... Like I said though the energy was definitely higher with the old stuff. Was so happy to see Laugh at danger again.

They are suppose to play a free acoustic show tomorrow morning also so I will be sure to catch that (it was suppose to be today but they couldn't make it), hopefully there will be a ton of good old stuff.

Here is the set from the acoustic show, overall good seeing the old stuff, but wasn't expecting as much new stuff:

Spanish Moss
Bob Dylan Song
Those Anarcho Punks Are Mysterious
Tonight We Give It 35%
White Crosses
Teenage Anarchist
Sink Florida Sink
High Pressure Low
Wagon Wheel
Baby I'm An Anarchist
We Did It All For Don

High Pressure Low
New Wave
Don't Lose Touch
White Crosses
Suffocation
Pints of Guinness
Reinventing Axl Rose
I Still Love You Julie
Teenage Anarchist
Ocean
Because of the Shame
Miami
Sink Florida Sink
Up The Cuts
Rapid Decompression
White People For Peace
Thrash Unreal

Encore:
Amputations
Cliche Guevera
Walking Is Still Honest
We Laugh At Danger and Break All the Rules

All of those songs are not good enough to be played live.....I'm not a fan of this setlist at all. The encore is pretty nice looking, though, aside from Amputations.

Not one of the better sets I've seen. Hope it improves as the tour rages on.

Nothing will ever beat them playing nothing but songs from Reinventing Axl Rose and As The Eternal Cowboy at last year's Harvest Of Hope Fest.

It just sucks that they have to cater to two different crowds now. I like most, enjoy their old stuff more. But I'm sick of hearing the same old songs live because of how people "need" to hear them. I welcome this new record only so I don't have to deal with the same material. If I hear Baby, I'm An Anarchist one more time..

It wasn't a cover or anything, I think its called "Bob Dylan Dream", I don't think it has been recorded or released yet though.

Bob Dylan Dream #1235

He's been playing it for over a year now, great tune.

I kinda agree with this.... in theory.... but when your actually at the show.... and have to sit through 5 new songs in a row, it gets really boring and so just hearing ANYTHING old would bring the energy back. And yeah they have played the same old songs for the past few years now with the exception of a couple, but its come to be expected (every band does this)... and the ones they do play are among the best material of the old stuff. But yeah, it would be nice to get a couple surprises here and there in their normal sets....
and Baby... is a great song, will always love seeing it live even though its a total cliche and everything

I really wish they would do a tour where they play Reinventing... in its entirety

Anyone have an extra ticket to the Ann Arbor show on Thurs (4/22)? Just went online to get tickets and they must have just sold out.

Won't be in town to see them when they come in. And the next time they come in they're opening for Silversun Pickups, and it's the same day as Modest Mouse. Damn.

god you're wrong. ocean is the best song off of new wave, and for you to highlight those songs but not highlight such snooze fests and joke tracks as white crosses and teenage anarchist is really ridiculous. only new song i'd really want to see is bamboo bones though

I have seen the Ocean live twice, and both times the crowd has been completely not into it. It's just a boring live song. White Crosses and Teenage Anarchist are not half as boring as it is, in my opinion. I'm not saying that I especially want to see either of those two songs live, because I'd rather see pretty much anything pre-New Wave in their place, but I don't think that they're that bad compared to the Ocean or High Pressure Low in a live setting.

I agree about wanting to see Bamboo Bones live, though.

Amputations isn't bad, but I'd much rather see something else from his Heart Burns live - mainly Cowards Sing at Night. As far as New Wave goes, I think the chorus is horribly boring, it just doesn't seem to go anywhere.

Cowards Sing at Night is probably my favorite track of that disc. But the election is over and that song was made against McCain. It wouldn't really make sense to bust it out.

Ocean is a terrible song to play live.... Amputations is bad, especially as an encore... the only heart burns song I got into was that Anna is a Stool Pigeon song. I actually really like the song White Crosses... but everything else I can't get into, Rapid Decompression is ok... For the record, the new songs do sound much better live than on the recordings.... still just not my thing though

Also... does anyone else really hate the song Don't Lose Touch? It's basically a New Wave song written pre-New Wave.... I'll take it over a New Wave song any day, but they have been playing this song for years now and just about any other song off of Searching... is much better.

Quite psyched to see these guys in a brewery in Rock Island. First saw them on the first "New Wave" tour and it was filled with New Wave songs. Saw them on the second New Wave tour, and the selection is much better. If you find yourself bitching about this setlist, wait until they do another tour after Silversun Pickups.

This is my top 3 worst shows ive ever seen. Against Me! are just lame now... I saw them for the first time last night in Toledo after a long emmensing wait of seeing them. Dead to me was amazing and i was so ready for the show. But you cant open with a new song unless its good high pressure low not that good. Then go into new wave like wtf New wave is the shittiest shit ever except for bourne on the fm waves. I think they only played 6-8 good songs the rest was honestly the worst time of my life i dont think id ever spend a dollar to go see a band that has completely destroyed their mral values. Baby im an anarchist got replaced on their setlist by i was a teenage anarchist. How fucking pathetic FUCK YOU TOM GABEL...Reinventing Axl Rose is one of the bets cd's ever though ill always appreciate them for that. But once we hit New Wave and Warner Brothers They fucking suck

this post is an absolute joke. there's punctuation that exists other than periods buddy. yeah white crosses sucks, but the way you phrased this entire review is hilariously awful

So if they've sucked for two albums now, why are you still going, knowing they'll play a good portion of things off of those albums.

Please feel free to tell us it was better in the basement.

seeing this tomorrow, will try to remember a setlist, but no promises on order.

Also, people bitching about the setlists are clearly overlooking the fact they've broken out I Still Love You, Julie. I've seen them on the last three headlining tours, and I've yet to see that one pulled out, even though they've broken out some old chestnuts in the mix. Also, good to see Cliche Guevara in the encore. Great tune to get fucking amped for.

besides that, maybe:
alpha kappa
straight to hell
lilith avi
home outgrown
deep sleep
tasker-morris station
time tables

i'd guess that list will cover most of their set.

i can't believe some of you hate on Ocean. I think it's one of the best songs they've ever written. I guess I'm just old and to be honest...I'm kinda over "reinventing axl rose". probably listen to it the least of all their albums. but like I said, i'm 30 and i've had that album for 8 years so...whatever.

a lot of the new songs are awesome. I think High Pressure Low is fantastic. They were very solid and awesome live as were Dead to Me.
