This will be a good show coming up in Orlando, I hope I can make it. I am not nuts about silverstein, but they are solid in my book. I think they will be more fun to see than ADTR.

ADTR is alright, they just don't appeal to me greatly.

Anyone going, or thinking of going to Orlando for the May 14 date?

One of my favourite bands of all time. Discovering The Waterfront is one of those "perfect" records. Their live show is at the point where its really tight too. ASITS was really good, as was their debut and I dont think A&D was THAT bad. Definitely their worst but still not bad. It had a bunch of catchy tunes but it definitely took away from their sound and the producer choice affected that as well. Great band overall though.

It is really messed up silverstein wasn't headlining that tour really messed up. I really like adtr but now it seems like their fans don't know who silverstein is. Discovering the waterfront was the second cd i ever bought and it was magical to the 15 year old me. I wish that that style of music would come back. I like what's out now but it's all the same

This band would be ok for what they play if Shane would develop some better lyrics and not stick to the same subject matter every other song. They aren't bad musically though, and can perform live.

I can actually tolerate a few songs from them though, "Call it Karma", "Red Light Pledge", and "November", though I never listen to them.

yeah the lyrics were a big improvement on a shipwreck, it was a conept album about a family living in modern times. and maybe some people enjoy the interesting music and simple lyrics? cause sometimes if you over do it, it just comes out a mess. they don't try hard at all. they do what they know how to do, and do it very well imo.

I haven't heard anything after 'DTW' except maybe 1 song on that train album, so I can't really talk. I'd be surprised if they were consistently improved though. It's not as much the simplicity as just the subject matters.

04/19/10, 12:39 PM
I do have to say Shipwreck is by far their best, most definitely because of how good I find the lyrics. I am a sucker for concept albums and they don't get much better. I'm seeing this tour when it goes to spokane and I'm SUPER excited to see Go Radio as well. I was really disappointed in Silverstein's lame set list however. I would say if you haven't checked out ASITS you have to, but skipping A&D would probably help if your not a big fan of their older stuff because A&D is when its at its most... emo.

I hope they play the colombia MD date. Doubt they will but that would be awesome, And i really hope the come to the DC/Baltimore area for their summer tour. I LOVE seeing them at headline shows. They are amazing. ASITS is their best album IMO. Discovering the Waterfront is a VERY close second though. ALSO... they really should be headlining that ADTR tour. I love ADTR and was really happy seeing them headline but it seems like Silverstein deserves it more.

They are amazing. ASITS is their best album IMO. Discovering the Waterfront is a VERY close second though. ALSO... they really should be headlining that ADTR tour. I love ADTR and was really happy seeing them headline but it seems like Silverstein deserves it more.

Agreed. When i saw them in Cleveland last week, I think they played a much better set/better overall performance than ADTR.

Yeah, i was happy with just being able to see them too. I went to the Cleveland show, and they played Vices, I Am the Arsonist, Born Dead, and Broken Stars of ASITS. I was really happy with their set, they played Sound of the Sun and i was jumpin' up and down yelling my ass off in the third row while all around me no one knew the words. Shane looked at me, pointed, and gave the "fuck yes" look. I was stoked.

Was the venue in Chicago pretty large? There was a good amount of people that were into My Heroine, Smile in Your Sleep, and Vices. Otherwise you could pick out the Silverstein fans out of the crowd pretty easily. I still hold that they play(ed) better live than ADTR.

Silverstein (http://absolutepunk.net/silverstein) will release a live CD/DVD entitled Decade (Live At El Macambo) on June 8th (http://www.absolutepunk.net/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=27332&day=2010-6-8) via Victory Records. The release documents the band's tenth anniversary performances this past March in which they played their four albums in their entirety.

Well when Shane did have his formspring still running, he did say they couldn't fit all the footage on the DVD because it would just simply take too long to do so and edit everything.
Also I was watching a video someone took at the El Mocambo one night and Shane didn't like the way one song sounded live and said "that sounded horrible. I guess that won't be on the DVD!"

On a bright-side, the band is watching the 1st screening of the DVD's entirety at the house of their upcoming American Dream music video dicrector, Robby Starbuck.

I did that for Scary Kids Scaring Kids farewell show at Reggies Rock Club, then almost got thrown out for smoking indoors. Totally worth it even though I ended up being awake for forty straight hours.

Have any of you been checking out their ustream chats this week!?
Tonights was definately the best! Robby Starbuck was too awesome. He even tweeted me. :)
It's too bad we couldn't watch all of the second night online though.
But I cannot wait for the rest of the chats!

Yesterday was Pauls with Day One of the four anniversary shows.
Today was Day Two with Robby Starbuck,
Tomorrow is Billy with Day Three and last but not least, Wednesday will be Shane hosting the chat with the final day!

* Don't forget to pick up a copy of Decade tomorrow if you haven't already pre-ordered it!

Just got done watching Decade, great stuff. I'm a bit dissapointed that some of my favourite tracks are only on the CD rather than the DVD (the 22-strong tracklist bandied around pre-release is just the CD, the DVD itself is made up of 17 tracks, and 10 music videos), but regardless it's still an awesome production.

The one downside is it's made me feel really down that the few times I've seen Silverstein were either before I really got into them (saw them twice as headliners in 2007 when they were touring Arrivals and Departures, and then last year when they were supporting The Blackout not long after the release of A Shipwreck In The Sand).

God I hope they announce some UK dates for sometime soon.

My Decade DVD won't work in the DVD player, but plays fine while it's inserted on the computer. Has anyone else had this problem? I know some people recieved bad discs when they even pre-orded the package off the Victory Records website.
I'm just fed up because I had to exchange it for another one and both do not work. :/

My first copy of the Underoath 777 DVD didn't work in anything. None of my DVD players or PC. But then I bought a second copy and it worked fine. Not a great DVD btw. Anyway, probably the first run of the print pressing of the discs don't work. I'd wait it out for the next shipment.

Just thought I'd say that by reading this thread, my flame for this band has been reignited. The first album of their's I've ever listened to was DTW and it was awesome. I went out an bought A&D and I thought only the first half was good. It really sucks after Still Dreaming imo. WBIEF was an awesome album as well. I was ifft about ASITS, but I'm appreciating it a lot more through reading this thread. I'm really late to the party here but my favorite song(s):

WBIEF: Red Light Pledge
DTW: Your Sword Vs. My Dagger
A&D: Still Dreaming
ASITS: Born Dead

I don't think I'm gonna buy their deluxe anniversary thing though. I'm not a big fan of these guys, but I do like them. I really like the artwork, shirt, and poster though.

Also, I've been jamming to these guys a lot lately and one thing I miss is the use of that violin from WBIEF and DTW. Who else agrees with me? I really loved that element in this band's music in their early days.

Shipwreck is my second favorite, haha. I love the whole concept of it.
I loved the part! That and My Heroine were the coolest to watch. One of my favorite things about seeing/hearing them live is that you get to hear more of Billy's voice. Not that I don't love Shane or anything, because I do.

He really does. He's probably my favorite guy in the band.
I loved how the whole band came in at the end of My Heroine. And you can tell that Paul was waiting for his cue to start drumming when he came in. For some reason I found that amusing.

I don't really understand it! They didn't even mention as to why but apparently a lot of bands are leaving that label.

So on Friday night I seen Silverstein in their hometown of Burlington, Ontario! They played an acoustic set (Call It Karma, Basket Case Cover and My Heroine) and also had a meet and greet which was awesome. I got to talk to Shane for awhile after everyone left and I asked him if there was any updates on the new album and he said to expect some news very soon and that the way their doing things will be different, and i think he meant in a good way.

Silverstein have signed on with Roadrunner Records Australia for their next album and beyond. The yet to be titled album is scheduled for release mid 2011, but for those who can’t wait, watch out for a 5 track digital EP scheduled for January. The EP will include two new tracks, two b-sides and a cover of the Nine Inch Nails track 'Wish'. Silverstein will be touring Australia as part of the 2011 Soundwave Festival. Vocalist Shane Told had this to say: "Australia is our absolute favourite place to travel, tour, eat, hang out, shop, and hold koalas, so we thought we should get the best label possible to put out our record there. That's why we went with Roadrunner."
