Does anyone have any information about current projects involving the guys in ACB, specifically Cody Bonnette? I can't get enough of Hell or Highwater.

DrStrong

From their Myspace back in July of 09 when they broke up.

"As Cities Burn has broken up. We are happily moving on after 6 good years. Our lives and our wives have called us in different directions. Thanks to anyone who has come out to a show, had words to say, or bought a CD to help us fill the tank."

They're probably done, just as TJ Bonnette left some years ago to be with his family. Similiar to what Jason did from Acceptance.

Underoath got a whole lot more popular after Dallas left, and As Cities Burn put out two really great albums after TJ left.

Eh, its a 50/50 split with Underoath fans, The Changing of Times and They're Only Chasing Safety are so different from either other, its almost unfair to say they're from the same band.

Also, whoever made Underoath's wiki page is an idiot, there is no mention of Dallas in the members/former members section.

Oh I know. But they also got so much more exposure and gained so many new fans from TOCS and DTGL.

Dallas is listed on there for me.

He did an acoustic tour with his wife, I believe, under the moniker Hello Highwater, and sold an EP with demos from Hell or Highwater.

Absolutely arguable. Have you listened to Come Now Sleep? Such a solid album. I can understand how someone wouldn't be a fan of Son, I Loved... but CNS is so killer. Either way, we can agree the HOHW was a fantastic disc.

I kick myself for never going to see them. If I could even just see Cody playing some songs off of HOHW my life would be complete.

Dude. I'm sorry, but I can't believe that there is a split between Underoath fans. If you surveyed 1000 people that listen to Underoath, you tell me that at least 500 are going to say that Changing of the Times (or earlier) is their favorite? I'm not trying to stir stuff up, but I think you're underestimating the fan base of Spencer-led Underoath. If we surveyed 1000 people, I think at least 100 would say that Underoath is the greatest hardcore band ever. (and no more than 10 of those would be referring to Dallas-led Underoath).

Just sayin...

Fans that were into Underoath WHEN DALLAS WAS INVOLVED are the group of fans which are split 50/50.

DrStrong

People that have listened to Dallas-era UO in retrospect will almost certainly like Spencer-era UO. My reasoning for that is because Spencer-era was more fitting for the type of music going on at the time, in the genre. Dallas-era was more metal, while Spencer-era was more emo-core, then getting more metal with each release.

I thought CNS was a much more complete album all around and just a much better experience than SILYAYD. I mean, SILYAYD was good, but they really refined their style and greatly improved, in my opinion, with Come Now Sleep.

CNS could easily be seen as a "more mature album" because it was their second, and I'm not saying it isn't more mature, but imo it's kind of hard to compare the two. Darkest was such a heavy album, incredibly well-written and thought out. If you'll say CNS is a better overall full album experience, I won't disagree with that. But personally I'd listen to any song on Darkest before I'd listen to the best song on CNS. Just my opinion I guess. I guess what really impressed me with ACB is that they put out a record like Darkest on their first try. If every band's first record was as well-written as Darkest, music would be that much more incredible
