I already knew this. I'm kinda bummed, but not really. I think the show is getting a little bit stale and is slowly declining - I'd rather see it go out on top than carry on and wear itself out.

Jason Tate

thats what TV show DVDs are for. i bet its cause zach braff is moving on with his movie career. hes got a new one coming out with rachel bilson and its basically garden state 2, which is both a good thing but also kind of lame and unoriginal.
Uhh. No it's not. It's based on a movie written long before Garden State. Nice try though.

so whats the best that is animated? im just curious. boondocks i find to be really smart and funny and just overall awesome.

1.)Venute Brothers(new season is even better than the first)
2.)Aqua Teen(even though the last couple episodes sucked and they haven't had any new ones for awhile)
3.)Boondocks
4.)South Park(the show hit its pinnacle in seasons 8 & 9)

Jason Tate
08/23/06, 02:06 PM
i didnt mean it was the actual garden state 2 dumbass. i meant they are very similar. i dont see how when it was written means shit here. zach braff picks too similar of projects is the point. see that word in there "basically", that means i didnt mean it was the actual garden state 2, but similar.
It is nothing like Garden State - at all. What are you even talking about? Unless you think that every "searching for happiness" movie is like Garden State.

Do you even think before you open that mouth of yours?

As Derrick Rust
08/23/06, 02:11 PM
I hate when actors quit popular tv shows to further their careers and end up going nowhere(cough Seinfeld cough). I also really like Zach Braff. So I'm quite conflicted right now. I'm pissed off that he's quiting my favortie current show and I would usually wish someone who does this sort of thing bodily harm but I want Zach Braff to continue you on so I can enjoy him in whatever he does. I don't he'll ever top Scrubs but maybe he can prove me wrong.

honestly who cares, you are the self proclaimed "god" of this site and i dont think ive ever seen you concede a point no matter what kind of an argument you recieved. yea i think before i type. do you ever concede a point and change your opinion on these boards? doubt it. i just find the 2 movies very similar and think thats very unoriginal of braff. its funny though how you originally tried to act like i said it was Garden State 2 and you pointed out when it was written, which i am still trying to figure out what the point in that was. whatever feel how you want. im sure it will still be a great movie and rachel bilson is hot as fuck.

Well, that's because I'm very rarely wrong. Case in point: this exact argument. You're just, flat, out, wrong.

Have you seen Last Kiss? Do you know what it's about? Have you seen the first movie it's based on? I'm venturing: no - therefore, you have absolutely no basis for your claim, and are talking out of your ass.

My point was, and continues to be, how can a movie be "basically" garden state 2, when it's based on a movie written before Garden State ever came out. That's impossible. I wouldn't have expected (shocking) you to get that.

I've never learned to hate a user of this website so quickly, but you - sir, are a fucking prick.

When? There were great episodes in season 4, and season 5 had a great second half (didn't like the first half as much). Season 3 was the worst season IMO, and even that season is great.

So, I think I disagree.

Chill out? How does one sitting in his room in shorts and drinking Vitamin Water get any more "chill"? I'm not even remotely worked up.

It's not a valid point, because it's just wrong. I've seen the Italian version of the film, and I've read the script for the American version. Just because Zach Braff is in it and it has a "deeper" meaning and an "indie-soundtrack" - we get all these retards comparing the two. It's stupid. Stop.

thanks you! finally a person who knows what they are talking about. if you look at imdb.com there are tons and tons of people saying how these 2 films are so similar and even going so far as to say braff is on the start of the road of being typecasted. im not the only one with this belief. yet tate thinks he is god so that cant be true if he doesnt see it. tate is now using the fact that i havent seen the foreign film it is based off of to say i have no right in having an opinion on this yet i doubt he has seen the foreign film either. both films are about characters who are lost in life and have anxieties about the next step in life and adulthood. plus both have the quirky sense of humor. the only big difference is GS was more lighthearted while this one is more dark.

generally i consider calling someone a "fucking prick" because he doesn't share your opinion about a movie to be not so much on the chill side. his point is valid in that he wants to see zach braff try different roles as an actor and the last kiss features him in a role very similar to one he had already played to much acclaim.

Dammit. I'd read just yesterday that Zach Braff was planning to leave after this season. I guess I'm glad the show will be ending though, because you can't take away the lead character and expect to have the same show (though I think of him as the central character of an ensemble).

Fuck you man. Her "job" is activities behind the scenes, with tour promotions, small bands, street team, and the SBRU. When she posts other news - she's just helping us out.

Now, for the last time - YOU HAVEN'T SEEN LAST KISS. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S ABOUT. So all this shit you keep pulling from the IMDB message boards, means absolutely fucking nothing.

Is "The Brave Little Toaster" basically garden state 2? It's about anxieties in the next step of life.

Is any movie with an indie soundtrack now basically garden state 2?

Every movie basically has a "lost in life" character - that's called character development. And seeing as this movie was written BEFORE Garden State, how can it be "basically" garden state 2? Wouldn't Garden State be "Last Kiss 2"?!

I take what some kids on IMBD's boards say as seriously as I take you. I know what people are saying, but just because there are a BUNCH of idiots like you out there jumping to the easy conclusion without seeing the movie or having any idea what you're talking about - doesn't mean it's right.

House is a doctor who's kind of grumpy and even mean. Most episodes there's a patient with some sort of problem that they have to figure out before the end of the episode. Its pretty good.

sorry that didn't really explain much. This is probably a better explanation: http://imdb.com/title/tt0412142/

Much better description than mine.

It sort of has a "pattern" to each episode - but the characters make it amazing. Just watching House be a dick is worth the hour of my time.

And the news posts? Link does work, and the other isn't my fault when people don't delete shit outta the news inbox after they post it like they're supposed to. I do my best to do that, but I'm only 1 person on staff, plus it was deleted 2 seconds later. Oh noes! I mussed a news post up. thank you! finally a person who knows what they are talking about. if you look at imdb.com there are tons and tons of people saying how these 2 films are so similar and even going so far as to say braff is on the start of the road of being typecasted. im not the only one with this belief. yet tate thinks he is god so that cant be true if he doesnt see it. tate is now using the fact that i havent seen the foreign film it is based off of to say i have no right in having an opinion on this yet i doubt he has seen the foreign film either. both films are about characters who are lost in life and have anxieties about the next step in life and adulthood. plus both have the quirky sense of humor. the only big difference is GS was more lighthearted while this one is more dark. oh yeah and both have indie soundtracks that are basically based off of braff's cd collection.

1. Wow, they got all that from a trailer? Then it must be the same!
It doesn't look anything like garden state was.
Who reads imdb for people's opinions about a movie that's not out yet?

2. Same with spiderman, about a boy, and a million different movies.

3. Then the movie will have good music. It doesn't make the movie the same.

yet tate thinks he is god so that cant be true if he doesnt see it.
You're being a jackass. Learn to give respect.

I only saw a few episodes of House and really, every single one was exactly the same. Somebody comes into the hospital with a problem, House acts like a complete jackass to EVERYONE, suggests some dangerous procedure that nobody else agrees with, he gets it done anyway, the person is fine, and House continues being a jackass to everyone. Throw in some tired interaction with his ex-wife and there you go. Boring as hell.

I agree with the going out on top idea, Scrubs is getting dangerously close to regurgitating plot lines, and that's the last thing they need. Happened to Seinfeld, that's why he killed it. I love Scrubs, I'll still say I think It's Always Sunny and Entourage are funnier right now, and Arrested Development over shadowed it the last few years, but I will miss it. It's definitely a better show overall than Always Sunny, I won't give it over the other two, but it's in rarified air compared to other relatively long lasting comedies. Most were not as consistently heartfelt and entertaining as Scrubs was, thankfully there's always my fine old TV DVD sets. Vanilla Bear and Chocolate Bear for life!

Personally, I think this is about as good as TV has gotten in a while, between the HBO shows, the basic cable shows and the quality shows being churned out on Network. I mean, besides CBS that is. If we could just get the shit reality shows off TV and replace it with more Arrested Development, new Nobody's Watching, somehow revive Sports Night and some glorious, glorious Futurama, we'd be in business.

this has been a sad week (minus the brand new "release date"). first the article saying midtown is pretty much done and then this? scrubs was still the best and most underrated show on tv. not that i'm saying anything everyone else hasn't already said.

08/23/06, 07:03 PM
well guys, i'm kind of a tv junkie. particularly right now i'm really caught up in prison break, i think it's a really great, addicting show
but scrubs is irreplacable. it's defintely the funniest show on tv. idk how it can be so freakin ridiculous and still make me care about the characters at the end of the episode, but they pull it off each week. it is hilarious time and time again and it is one of my absolute all time favorite shows. i am so mad that it's gonna be ending....i feel like these amazing writes could have kept it going forever. but i really don't want them to go on without JD, i hope they just go out on top.
yeah, it sucks when an actor leaves a show to just do movies (they kind of should think of this stuff before they sign on to a series) but it's a part of life and i wouldn't have wanted anybody but zach to play JD. i hope he continues to pursue great movie roles.

on the subject of tate vs. crowley
sure, tate seemed a bit edgy very quickly...but i just think he's a lot quicker to cuss someone out and completely tear them down then most of us...i don't think he even breaks a sweat. and the truth is, he usually knows what he's talking about.
and crowley....if you disagree with tate, one SURE way to get him to not listen to his point is to call him names and make fun of his incredible staff. if you have a problem with tate and his staff, get off his site and get a life.
that's just my opinion on the matter

Scrubs has been my favourite TV show since the pilot aired years ago. I'm sad that it will be gone, but I am glad it'll end before it gets stale....not that I think it will ever get stale....who am I kidding, I wish it would stay on the air forever. But I don't want it to go on without Braff, a show should never go on without the lead character.

Now, on to this Last Kiss debate:
and these are the similarities between the 2 movies, everyone else seems to see them but you cause you are too hardheaded...
...anxieties about the next step in life and adulthood
...soundtracks of indie music that braff loves
...characters are lost in life
...go look at imdb.com, where film nerds go and you will see tons of people saying what i am saying
...and like someone already said, tons of people have mentioned on imdb.com how this could basically be Andrew Largeman's character years later.
if you cant see the similarities in these 2 movie roles then you need help.
1) As it's been said, tons of films have that very same plot structure. That doesn't mean they're the same movie. Examples have been given, take them into consideration
2) So? He put the soundtracks together, of course it would be music he likes. Hell, when he did it for Garden State he won himself a Grammy. If the music suits the movie, then it should be used.
3) Jack Torrence and MacMurphey were both characters with drinking problems and short tempers. Yet one was the character of a horror film, the other of a drama. Both were played brilliantly by Jack Nicholson. I fail to see how playing a similar character makes the movies the same.
4) The people on the IMDb boards are stupid. At least a large majority of them are. I wouldn't take too much stock in what they say. Especially if they don't use proper english.
5) I don't think you can say that without having seen more than the trailer, since the whole point of a film is taking a character from one place to another. Since Large, at the end of Garden State, was entering a new phase of his life, we have no real way of telling if this would be the way he would turn out years later.

Basically, I think you have some reason for saying the films share similarities, but to say they are exactly the same is way too hasty. And hell, even if they are the same, Garden State was a great movie and I paid to see it twice in theatres, and have watched it countless times on DVD. If The Last Kiss turns out anything like it, then it will be just a great.

1) The link does work - if you're a member of the street team.
2) The tower records article was a user-submitted article.
3) Two posts out of a few hundred and she "sucks at her job"? I don't get that at all. That's like less than a 1% screw-up rate. You can't even type correctly, and yet you're giving her shit?

Holy shit! Brave Little Toaster fucking rules!!!! Oh man awesome movie

Jesus, you guys are downers. This shouldn't be taken as bad news at all. I love Scrubs and it's definitely among my favorite shows of all time, but to be angry and sad is silly. It's a decision on Braff and Lawrence's part. This isn't a situation where the show is being cancelled like Arrested Development. If they want to go out while they're still on top, that's a good thing. I'd much rather have six great seasons than watch the show deteriorate. Hugging my Arrested Development DVDs is still no substitute for the show no longer being around....but I totally agree with your points. Six seasons are amazing for a show that never really found a huge audience and admitted to making the show for the hardcore fans last season because they weren't really sure if or when the 5th season was going to air. And to me the results were the best season the show has ever had.
