Rian Johnson (director) has made the script for Brick and the novella he based it on available at the Brick website (http://www.brickmovie.net). I've been reading through it and I just think it's a great script that could give ideas and help to alot of aspiring filmmakers/screenwriters.

awesome...since I just watched it a week back, this will still make sense to me
Also, another suggestion for a book in this case...the class I am taking uses this book called
Thinking in Pictures: The Making of the Movie Matewan
It shows the whole process of scripting, shooting, and editing the film, as well as includng the screenplay in it. It's a great resource to see how creative they have to be wiht certain aspects of the storytelling to make it under budget (Matewan was super low budget...yet got nominated for an OSCAR for cinematography in 1988)

Si si si! Serisously though. This is what I plan on doing after college. Ive got a long way to go, but I've been working on some scripts for years now. Hopfully I'll have something solid to work off when I graduate.

I wish they had developed the Jerr angle more...they never explained why he and Emily broke up actually:
when Brendan and Emily were still an item she started hanging out with Jerr, a small time dealer. Brendan didn’t approve, so he partnered up with Jerr then ratted him out to Trueman. Emily found out, and that led to their breakup on the field, which we see in a flashback.

Yeah...I saw it a week back...rough for the first 1/3 til you adjust to the style of the dialogue, then it's actually fairly compelling.
Man, they cut a lot of the more intricate action type sections out, instead opting for a slower pace and style. There was some cool stuff, but, they were smarter doing it it seems

And anyone interested (I know I am, he's become one of my favorite filmmakers with ONE film) Rian Johnson will start work on his next flick right after the new year. It's a con-man movie called The Brothers Bloom and he hopes to have it out by next summer or fall.
