I like both bands, but Jack's is certainly the better act. However, you have to take into consideration the popularity of each band. Panic! is definitely more popular than Jack's, and I guess thats what it comes down to.

To address everyone who's going to say it: Panic at the Disco sells the most records so therefore that's why they are headlining. It's not about it being "fair," it's about draw and getting the most people out to the show possible. And fans of JM and Bloc Party should be excited because they get to play in front of a lot of different people now and make some new fans.
i shall accept any insults for predicting bloc party headlining this a couple months back. do not hold anything back members.

agreed. i think BP and JM are better, but commercially, making Panic headliner makes the most sense. it should be a cool show though.

Could not agree more. And with that said I'm still stoked beyond belief for back to back dates to see JM even if they're not headlining. Throw in some Bloc Party and I'm gonna have an awesome time at these shows. And hopefully Panic will put on a good show as well.

Eh....its not that bad of a venue....the dunkin donuts arena is by far the worst New engalnd venue ever...they dont even fill up the genera; admission area.
Moreover, this is not the biggest "crime" regarding one band being much better/more legendary. Let's not forget that Alkaline Trio opened for My Chemical Romance, Boys Night Out opened for Fall Out Boy, Emery The Sleeping Plain White T's are opening for Hawthorne Heights.. this is just in recent memory. I'm sure if I sat down and thought about it I'd come up with many more (and sometimes more upsetting) examples. Brand New is opening for Dashboard Confessioanl during this same time period, too.
Personally, I'm very disappointed, because I desperately want to see another JM headlining show (Philaelphia, New York are the only two I've caught). I'll be driving to CT for the Cure For Cancer Tour, though, because I knew about this P!ATD tour months ago. Oh well.. I may be able to score some free tickets, so I guess I could hit up a fucking arena to see two bands that combined don't have more than few years of existence between them.

Both very valid points, but if I had never seen JM, and this was my only chance this year, I'd go. Jack's Mannequin is absolutely stellar live, especially headlining (which you sadly won't experience with this tour). Headlining he often plays EIT through, then a SoCo song or two with some b-sides and other covers (Everly Brothers, Tom Petty, others).
Andrew knows music, and he understands the art of a live show. Playing live isn't just about getting on stage and grinding out fifteen songs.

Jack's Mannequin needs to do a headlining tour.
they're on one right now...
they're headlining with Copeland , The Hush Sound and Daphne Loves Derby as openers.
The Theater at Madison Square Garden, which seats between 2,000 and 5,600 for concerts and can also be used for meetings, stage shows, and graduation ceremonies. No seat is more than 177 feet (54 m) from the 30-foot-by-64-foot stage. There is an 8,000-square-foot lobby at the theater. When the current Garden opened in 1968, the Theater was known as the Felt Forum, in honor of Garden President Irving Mitchell Felt. In the early 1990s, it was renamed the Paramount which then owned the Garden (and which had previously been known as Gulf & Western.) The theater received its current name in the mid-90s.
Wow.. I think I'm going to the NYC date, if it's only a 2000-5000 person venue! That's tiny compared to the rest of this tour. Let's hope theres adequate pit/standing room..

JM is currently (or will be, in a few days) on a headlining tour. They did a headlining tour a year ago, too, and did many dates in between in most states.

I'll have to find out the full details about seating/pit area. I'll be there if there's a pit. Where in NJ are you from? Closest to South Jersey is the Baltimore show, closest to North Jersey is the Webster Theatre date in CT.

These are obvious choices regarding the Panic! tour. He was talking about the JM headlining tour, though, which isn't as obvious. The choices are far in PA, MD, and CT.. depending where in NJ you live the answer is different.. though I think PA is pretty much ruled out.

Also on that tour was Good Charlotte, a small band you may have heard of on MTV once or twice a few years ago. Combined, GC/NFG had sold (and were far more popular) than P!ATD/JM/BP. Throw Less Than Jake onto the bill, and it's no comparison.

I like both bands, but Jack's is certainly the better act. However, you have to take into consideration the popularity of each band. Panic! is definitely more popular than Jack's, and I guess thats what it comes down to.
i would not say panic! is more popular than jack's mannequin.
fanbase, popularity wise, they should be co-headlining.
(if this was a fair and just world jack's would be headlining but popularity is not fair and just.)

I'm gonna miss Jack manicure's set on purpose, start a massive mosh pit to bloc party just to bother all the frat boys and their spikey hair, and conclude my shebeil by launching eggs at Panic at the homosexual disco.

Less than 100 replies? I'm genuinely surprised.
Some people just see the words Panic and Disco, and instantly have to bash or praise, right?
I'm not a hater of P!ATD, but goddamn, I am tired of hearing about them from the "fans". The latest issue of AP's letters section was the final straw.

Yeah I saw that AP. I can understand if Will was frustrated though. I liked the article about Cartel. Those people don't realize that Cartel is on the verge of blowing up according to and because of this website.

me personally, i have no idea who jack's mannequin is or what they sing, the only thing i know about them is the singer from something corporate is in that band. whereas panic at the disco is on the radio and you see their videos on tv all the time and people who don't even like rock music know who they are.
i think if you surveyed average people (this is people who do not go to sites like this and do not follow every new band or hear about bands before the rest of the world) you would find that panic is more popular.
