When I went to my ex-boyfriend's prom, we went bowling in NYC afterword. The kids in the other limo we were going bowling with ended up bribing their limo driver to get us into the bowling alley because it was a 21 plus place and we needed someone over age to get us in (the original person fell through).

We ended up playing in-between 2 groups of people.

On one side of us, we had some classy guys smoking cigars and betting on their game. On the other side we had a group of drunk ass people. One of the guys in the drunk group walked up to one of the guys in my group and goes...

"Is this your prom? Is THIS your prom?! Is this your prom." *gum smack* "Is that your date? Is THAT your date?! Is that your, see what you gotta do is, you gotta put some drinks into her, put some drinks into her, put some drinks INTO her, and then you TAP THAT! YOU TAP THAT" (just imaging the can I get your number guy)

This guy then went around to each guy in our group telling them to put some drinks into there date and then tap them.

Now I know people wanna be too-cool-for-school and hate on prom, but I had a blast, both times.

In the weeks up to the formal we had ballroom dancing lessons during our study periods, where we'd learn the waltz, the foxtrot and the gay gordons (cue high school giggling).

So at the formal, the band would play songs you could do ballroom dancing to, and then a DJ would play pop hits to dance to. Then there'd be dinner and dessert.

Yes, it was expensive, but it was awesome. I mean, how often in your adult life do you get to dress up and have a classy night out? How often do you get to say "Would you like to dance?" to a girl, have her say yes, lead her to the dance floor, put your hand around her waist and start waltzing?

Now I don't know if proms in America are anything like our school formals, but if you get into the spirit of the evening you'll have a great time. Mine still ranks as one of the best nights I had during high school.

And yes, the police arrived at the afterparty, that's all that needs to be said about that.

I didn't go to my Junior one because I thought it would be lame, I hate dancing, and knew I wouldn't have fun. Senior year my asshole friends all decided to vote for me for prom king as a joke, so as one of the candidates I had to try to find a date at the last minute since I hadn't bothered trying to get a date and they finally got around to letting me know that I HAD to go like 3 days before the dance. One of my friends got her boyfriend's sister to go with me who was a Sophomore and who I'd never met. She seemed pretty cool until she got sick halfway through the dance and had to leave. Then everyone who I had gone to the dance with wound up going home, either to fuck their dates or to get away from them, and I went home.

Giant waste of $150 or so, I'd say just find a party to go to afterwards, skip the dance, and bang some drunk horny chick at the party

seriously though, i didnt go to my prom. i almost went but the girl i asked went to another school so we had to fill out this form thing and she had to fax her school id and it was such a hassle and on the last day tickets were on sale the office told me her fax didn't go through so i texted her later in the day "can't go to prom. your fax didn't work. portugal the man is playin that night want to go?" and the reply i got back was "no." we didn't speak for about 4 or 5 months haha.

ouch, bummer. my junior year i went to another girl's prom and it was wierd at their school how they did the prom king and queen thing, but it was a combination of popularity, dancing talent and appearance. i think it was because the school was more conservative than most or something. but my date and i entered into it thinking why not, we ended up doing our swing dance routine and blew everyone away. we ended up winning king and queen even though i was a junior and hardly anyone from that school knew me. and for whatever reason, we didn't talk for 11 months later haha.

Fuck this attitude man. I danced with my own tie at a sixth grade dance, and then again at an 8th grade dance. Ended up being asked to dance by chicks for the rest of the night. Whether they feel bad for you at first, you can always turn it around into a joke, and end up having a pretty good time. I actually got a girlfriend after the 8th grade dance due to this move. If you need any more tricks I've got the entire bag right next to me.


On the other hand my high school proms were different:
1. Didn't go to my junior prom.
2. Asked what I considered to be the hottest chick in the school to prom, she said yes, then I cancelled plans and stayed home.
3. Went to ex's prom a year after I graduated, horrible time.

My prom date ended up getting obnoxiously drunk on the ride there, told me i better not even think about having sex with her that night, then as soon as we got there she was yelling and being obnoxious until she disappeared for the entire time. I was going to go to my Junior prom with a group of friends, but I ended up meeting this awesome guy from another school a few weeks before, and he asked to take me because he knew I didn't have a date. I was super excited, because this guy and I were really liking each other, and I had an awesome dress that I felt beautiful in. The week before prom, he went to his own prom, and ended up having sex with his ex-girlfriend and getting back together with her. He already had his tux, so I was like...whatever, we'll go as friends. He didn't pay for dinner, didn't get me a corsage, and didn't even start having a good time till the last hour. Then after prom, he didn't really say much and he just dropped me off at my house, and I had to go to after parties alone. THEN later that night he called me and told me he missed me and that he still liked me, all that blah blah blah shit.

I wasted a year on that fucker.

It was prom this Saturday. I had high hopes, I always have a decent amount of fun.

But the DJ that the Juniors hired was horrible. Played a bunch of non-danceable songs... it turned out that he was supposed to be able to stream a bunch of music from online but couldn't for some reason.
What sort of shit DJ is that? Who doesn't have songs to play for a dance?

I could throw together enough music for a prom out of my itunes.

My school's prom was last weekend. I decided not to go because I had SAT's that day and AP's are this week. I may go next year. And I agree with some of you that prom is overpriced, but honestly $50 per person isn't that bad. My school charged $100 per person this year and that doesn't include after prom either.

Yeah, but part of the reason was that my class did very little fundraising to help lower the cost. In previous years it was more like $70.

My date is a member of ASB and they were in charge of setting it up and everything and I ended up not having to pay, so that was cool.

my school has an after-prom party thing, where they have all these contests and shit (they even give away some expensive stuff). Most seniors just end up staying the night there. It's clearly to stop the idea of getting laid after prom.

As for my actual prom, it was pretty good. We took pictures, went to dinner at some place next to the Dollar Store and Ace Hardware, the group had some weird limo and awesome old guy driving it and we showed up to the dance an hour late, had fun there and then my date and I went back to my house and watched Inglourious Basterds.

I wasnt there, but a bunch of my friends went to prom in a limo with their dates (they were a grade under me) and one of my friends always seems to say the wrong things at the wrong times. They were talking about what restaurant to go to after the show, and somebody mentioned this roast beef place. My friend was trying to be funny and goes, "Why go there? We have all the roast beef right here!" *points at the girls crotches and then proceeds to do a cheese grater movement on his crotch*. Still makes me laugh at his stupidity to this day.

I was in the same boat. My date got pretty drunk after. I felt bad for leaving the party, but I wasn't risking having to sit out games of my senior year.

Went to mine. Dinner was served there. Then danced and had fun. Went to mcdonalds after with 3 others. Hah. Then called it a night. One of my friends had to work 8am next day. I went home. Other 2 slept at walmart.

So many cops out after the prom. I heard that at one of the parties, the kids didn't want to get in trouble so they decided to stay up until 4am and thats when they would start drinking. Weird

After my prom, some kid put out an open invite via Facebook to his house party and had over 150 people show up. Needless to say, it was busted before midnight.
As for me, I just hung out with my friends and we spent the night at someone's house. We didn't party, it was low-key and fairly boring, but at least no one called the cops.

I went with my best guy friend that I always seem to have on and off-again feelings for. He was a gentleman and it was fun. I think we have that chemistry where we keep people guessing a lot-- Funny stuff.
Also, I never really wear make-up and get dressed up, so some people didn't recognize me. ._.
Everyone on the dance floor was grinding the entire night, but my friends and I took over the corner of the floor and danced like idiots. So that was way more fun than I thought it would be. Afterwards we ate pizza and watched The Office at my house. Boring as far as Epic Prom Shenanigans go, but I had a blast and stuff.
