Goddamn.
dredg puts on a hell of a live show, especially if they're playing El Cielo in its entirety. For the love of god, if you're in santa cruz, go to this.

Ahhh there are very few things I wouldn't give up to see them play El Cielo in its entirety.
And by very few things I mean anything below my waist.

dredg absolutely does give an amazing show. They sounded amazing when I saw them. The best thing of all though, the line up was:
mewithoutYou
dredg
The Blood Brothers
Coheed & CambriaTHAT WAS A FANTASTIC SHOW! I am really hoping to see dredg again very soon, if they ever come to the east-coast. I've been obsessed with Catch Without Arms. I may go out and purchase El Cielo though. I've got it on my computer but I've never listend to it.

Dude, definitely listen to El Cielo. It's my favorite cd ever. I hated Catch Without Arms when it came out because I thought it was terrible compared to El Cielo. I let it grow on me and I love it now though. El Cielo is just on a completely different level.

El Cielo is an amazing album but how can you not mention Leitmotif. That album opened my eyes to a whole new side of music. God please let them make a DVD of these shows.

I think I would like Leitmotif more if it were better quality. But NOTHING tops El Cielo for me.
And I also would love a DVD of these.
Everyone hates everyone in CA and apparently loves Dredg. I feel like I wasted my time by never listening to them.
I go to school in Santa Cruz, and now have a house there, yet I have no plans of going to this.
But I mean, in defense of CA, it IS a hometown show, and I would expect many bands to do the same sort of thing (playing whole CDs and what not) in their hometown.

Amen to that.
Idiot.
Did you read my first line? I have never gotten into them. :shrugs:
Sorry if I don't have any plans of going to a concert by a band I've never listened to. You are welcome to sleep on my floor if you love dredg enough to fly out here.
edit: 9/15 The Matches are in San Fran for a CD release show. Tear me apart for saying I'd rather drive an hour and a half to see the matches than 10 minutes to see Dredg....

Have you given them a chance? They are brilliant!

Will anyone agree with me that "The Canyon Behind Her" is the best song ever written? Anyone?

I actually haven't. That's what I said. I've never listened to them.
With everyone praising them, I was going to check out El Cielo and go to that show. But its the same night as The Matches show, which I would rather go to.
Maybe I will check out the other cd. Like I said, its only 10 minutes away to get to the Catalyst for me.

I got into them late in the game with Catch Without Arms, and I found that to be a good introduction. There are definitely worth a look.

I just got El Cielo today. Fuck yeah. I love the concept of the album. It's so cool. and how its based on the Dali painting. Brillant artists. I'd love to meet them.

Oh, I agree, but CWA is a good intro to the band and their sound...very accessible.

i first saw these guys with Taproot right after they re-released Leitmotif 4 years later.....
There. I fixed it for you :)

no shit...that make sense because they've been playing shows before that one for a couple of years...i didn't realize it was 4 years though.
Yeah. They released it on their own, and then Interscope picked them up and they re-released the cd. Unfortunately, it came out on September 11, 2001, so any chance it really had of getting picked up got thrown out the door.

hahaha...i saw them with Taproot exactly a year later.
Haha, I saw them on that same tour, but it was Aug 19, my first day of college. And then I saw them back on May 5, my last day of college. Tell me that shit ain't weird!
Oh, and when i said 4 years, I meant 2 years. I had release years confused with their EP.

I listened to El Cielo... my god. What a great cd. I listened to it as I was falling asleep at like 2:30am and it was freaking me out at parts. I forget what song, but its got like whispering in the right headphone and it tweaked out and took the headphones off. But it is a great album. Glad I bought it.
