Despite the rumours and speculation circulating at this point in time, Less Than Jake (http://www.absolutepunk.net/lessthanjake) are still a part of the Sire Records (http://sire.ear1.com/) family.

It is only a matter of time before they leave.

I don't know if I would have called it a "rumor" considering Vinnie himself hinted at the band being dropped from the label.

Please take Vinnie's words as nothing more than thoughts, because at this point in time, that's exactly what they are.

No, I get that and I'm not disagreeing with you. I was just arguing the semantics of describing his thoughts/hints of being dropped as rumors, since those thoughts came from the proverbial horse's mouth.

This sounds like spin. Those are Vinnie's thoughts 'at this point in time'? If it's not true right now, immediately, at this second, then it will be very soon. It's safe to say that Sire was planning on selling a few more than 39k records.

I understand, and I agree, but I saw this same topic of discussion carried over to several other places where rumors piled up and one thing led to another. Therefore, the "rumors" I am referring to are more than just what Vinnie stated in his blog entry.

But, on a seperate note, I would like it to be known that this is Vinnie's personal blog. It's a place for him to write down his personal thoughts, feelings, or ideas, and although this entry is highly specific, it's words currently hold no truth whatsoever. I'm not saying Less Than Jake will spend the remainder of their career on Sire's roster, I was simply dispelling the rumors of their leap to another label at this time.

im sure he means everything that he says on his blog (or else why would he say it), but his lawyer (or label) made him clarify that as of right now, it's a rumor (which technically it is).

There went the good news for the day. i was excited for them to be back on Fat Wreck. They aren't a major label band. They don't like following the major label rules, and with the way the music industry is working, they don't have to. Its no secret that the major labels are loosing their death grip on the industry. I am unsure of their contractual obligations, but with the way Out Crowd was recieved, I wouldn't doubt it.

It's quite shocking how you're under the impression that everything somebody writes is instantly truthful? If I were to write a blog entry right this moment stating that Less Than Jake had changed their name, would something so fictitious instantly be declared the truth?

Lyrics. Take a minute and read over some of the lyrics out there. Buddy from Senses Fail sang about shooting a five year old through the head, but unless I'm mistaken, I doubt he'd be spending his time singing for a band if that actually occurred.

I'm surprised nobody has caught on to what the entry actually is.

way to bring it out of context ;) if you wrote a blog that said that you had problems at your job and you were a little bummed out so you might go back to your old job, not personally knowing you, i would probably believe you.

im not trying to fight with you, im just saying that that's probably what's going down (or that's my theory anwyay). it's true that the radio climate and less than jake dont match. it's true that they probably didnt sell as many records as their label wanted them too. so why cant the rest of his blog be true?

that's all im saying. im not saying it's fact that they've left, just saying that it's probably true.

i think it's more of vinnie's expectations/speculation. i'm guessing the album is doing as well as the majors expected and vinnies expecting LTJ to get dropped. but it's not like he out and said" this is going to happen"

I'm not trying to fight with you either, as I understand where you're coming from completely. I understand that, as an outsider, this would appear as the simple truth. I'm not trying to create the mindset that I'm some sort of big shot that has lunch with the band everyday, or anything along those lines, but I keep in close contact with the band on a daily basis, and I've been informed that these words don't hold the facts that everyone has chosen to believe. That's all. :)

Thanks. I actually wrote those exact words for an away message a few years ago before ever hearing the Zebrahead track, but it just so happens I'm a huge fan of that song and Zebrahead as a whole. So, it was a nice surprise. :)

Sire made Roger cut his dreads, replaced the horns with a string section, and allowed Def Jam to buy out the band's contract.

True story.

Too bad they won't be releasing a b-sides collection that will smoke the tracks on the album itself.

Sire will drop them, undoubtedly. The label doesn't do shit for the band, and really, they could have a lot more success being the anchor and veteran on FBR, like NOFX is on Fat Wreck.

I'm just tired of the majors dismissing LTJ. Capitol was pretty good to them for a while, but Sire has been a huge disappointment.

Old Zebrahead, right B? I love Zebrahead through MFZB, but without Justin, they are just some impostor band posing as a band formerly known as Zebrahead.

And you took me out of your sig, whore! I let you take my flower and everything. Shame, shame...my mom always told me to watch out for guys like you...

Well, I do prefer old Zebrahead, but I'm not going to lie and say I don't enjoy Broadcast to the World. I have no idea how well/terrible their new vocalist is able to handle the songs Justin sang on in a live atmosphere, but for the most part, I enjoy his own vocal-work.

As for the quote, I apologize. I just figured that seeing as how my signature appears alongside my news psots, I should keep a somewhat clean, professional signature. Haha. I hope you understand, love. But, don't worry, I'll still be the same horny 18 year old I've always been in the General forum.

I say who cares, I love Less Than Jake ...A lot. But we all know they are going to make the same next record if they are on Sire or if they went back to FAT... I mean look at the Borders and boundaries album, they wrote and recorded it when they were on Capital records. I remember the Capital site was even hyping it up back in late 99' early 00' before they left. So saying that the band is better off on one label or another makes no sense.. being that they are on Sire may give them a better push with a big promotion budget, but being on FAT gives them more "punk" appeal? Shit I like Fat Mike and NoFX, and if Green Day signed to FAT would you like them more? A label can only say so much to an established band that got signed on the basis of the records they had already made. The sound of Less Than Jake is always improving and changing, since Pez core to losing streak... Hello rockview wasn't the album I was expecting when it came out, but it is still to this day my all time fav LTJ cd. Thats what a good band does...they change it up a little bit, I wouldn't want 5 albums of Pez core just recycled. So in all I'm really not too sure what is going on, if the band decided to put the music out on Sire, Fat or if they just put shit out on Fueled by ramen.. I would be happy eaither way...as long as they still tour and make music...get all mad or what not, but I think we get all to wraped up in the lifes and on goings of celebs. I thought this was a site for music news or recording, touring, break ups, reunions etc, not a site for scene kids to argue about a bands present standing with a record label. 9 times out of 10 we don't know the band and never will, they live and die never knowing our names,

actually aside from justin singing on mfzb he didnt do anything for zebrahead, wouldnt even write anything for the album. he was doing more with his other project i hate kate instead. it was all the other guys who did the work. sucks cause justin was one of the other major reasons i got into music. him and greg bergdorf
