These guys would make Hall & Oates roll over in their graves...if either of them were dead. Not a fan.

This is the reason Hall & Oates are mustache-less these days.

I can tolerate them, and that's only because I have to because they've been doing shows all over Canada for years so they're fun to see drunk.
Not a fan of their newer stuff though. Grind and Pop Your Trunk or whatever were fun though.

do they play big shows, or mostly just clubs and stuff? i could see them being fun at a bar where everyones drunk and having a good time. they got a spot on cute is what we aim for's comeback summer tour, so that should be interesting.

the shows that I've seen have been clubs varying from crowds of 20 people to about 300. They have done some fairly large shows recently though because theyre alllll over the radio here. Theyre definitely a good band to see when everyone's drunk. I'm sure they get a lot of hate on this site because theyre just fun, but they have soooo mucn energy live. See them if you like them/get the chance :)

I don't think I'd ever be able to listen to them really, but they're much different than many other bands, especially with the arrangements. They also seem like a fun live show base don the videos I've seen.

I most definately agree with you here!
Sum 41 are by far the best Canadian talent here in my opinion, along with another of my favourites, The Latency.
Billy Talent have won countless Junos and also some more good Canadian talent would be Three Days Grace.
but honestly, I don't see much in Down With Webster.

billy talent is a terrible testament to the canadian music scene..
alexisonfire hasn't been good since watch out! and dallas green, well yeah he's an amazing vocalist
sum 41 has been going downhill since brown sound left,
down with webster is comparable to stereos, just terrible.
and nobody mentioned the guess who yet, or neil young or even bryan adans. god fucking dammit

actually, i have nothing against the guess who. burton is my moms second cousin.
and sum 41 are actually recording new material and are on tours at the moment, so they're doing just fine i think.

I'm so glad Arkells won Best New Band at the Junos instead of these guys. Terrible example of Canadian talent. Metric, Tokyo Police Club, The Trews, Rush, k-os, Mother Mother, Hot Hot Heat and Sam Roberts are good examples. Synth pop rock like new Faber Drive, Stereos and DWW are not.

yeah i've never heard of them much over here, its crazy how bands get picked up so fast these days from major labels.
Dudes have been around for 10+ years. They used to just poster the fuck out of anything in Toronto and spraypaint/stencil their logo on sidewalks everywhere. They have worked some shitty jobs and have worked hard to get to this point. As much as I'm not a fan of the music, I respect these guys and what they've had to do. I've talked to the DJ and one of the guitarist on occasion over the past few years. When they signed to Universal Motown they were still working shitty jobs as janitors, fast food, etc. while doing the band.
Regardless, there are so many good Canadian bands that don't get enough recognition

yeah its gotta be hard up there. do you know how they landed a spot on the label? like with all that hard work of promotion a talent scout had to find them er something? maybe the internet? and their videos are slick produced. the label must have had to pay for those.

I'm almost certain I just said that I do like drake. My complaint was that the very first artist you thought to mention when everyone was questioning canada's talent was drake. Thats like me saying gaga first for america's talent. Rappers like Classified and K'naan are much more talented than drake.
no neeed to quote me on this saying something about drake. I dont disagree that he's talented. He just isn't all that.

Guess they saw potential and the shows they were doing around Ontario often selling out and thought it was a gold mine. They are deff. getting their payouts now and yeah the label must have been funded the music videos

Gene Simmons backs them. He was on this Canadian news show I watch called The Hour and he wouldn't shut up about how much he loves DWW so I have a feeling that endorsement helped them quite a bit.
