This may sound stupid, but what goddamn time signiature is the beginning (up until the break right after "unto us a most inspired storm") of 'Same Shade as Concrete' in? It's the only part of the record that fails to make theoretical sense to me and still sounds like cacophany.

nope, on a roommate's computer. Periodically, my laptop does this thing where it won't let the screen turn on until I plug it into a monitor. I'm just too lazy to plug it in.

so i lied and actually didn't have that song. I thought i did, but I don't. maybe I'll slow it down on my computer and try and figure it out. it's probably a complex meter.

Yeah, because the little breaks between bursts of whatever odd meter/time they are in are blatantly in 3/4 and then the quiet part that involves the line 'disheartened chorus' etc etc is in plain old 4/4 and then the finish of the song is in 6/8 or 3/4 (either way, easy to follow), but the beginning just always bugged me. It's badass, I just wish I could follow it. NP, I enjoy it either way.

it might be complex meter or maybe the meter changes really quickly. i know complex meter is really arbitrary and doesn't really make sense.

haahaha, lame.
maybe the meter changes really quickly.
i think this it, to be honest

yeah, i doubt they'd write in complex meter because I'd see no real reason to do that. it literally makes no sense. from how i understand theory, which could be wrong, complex meter is something you can do, but it doesnt necessarily make sense to do it.
