not. they would have never been heard of without the Here It Goes Again video. and then everyone forgot about them, then they came back just because of the This Too Shall Pass video

I've listened to most of Oh No. Thought it was bad. Gave the new album a chance, worse.

You insult an entire band's career and call them a gimmick, because you 'don't like their songs. ;-).' I'm sorry, that's just a little ridiculous to me.

"After the band's performance at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards, their album moved up to #2 on the iTunes Music Store album sales charts (as of September 3, 2006). Their album sold 8,250 units in the following week, a 95% increase over the prior week, rocketing from #87 to #69 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, the highest position ever achieved by any OK Go album to date"

I'm just saying I can give irrelevant stats as well.
So because they performed on an awards show and went higher on the charts, they're a gimmick? I really don't understand.

I'm not saying they're bad, just that I don't like them and that the only reason they're as successful (when it comes to albums sold, etc.) as they are is because of their videos

So the videos are doing exactly what they are supposed to do... They are an interesting visual presentation that goes along with a song.

Yes...but hardly anybody would listen to the songs if the videos weren't as cool as they are

I meant I've only ever seen their videos. As opposed to hearing all of their work. Insinuating I'm not qualified to make a proper opinion.

Yes... but the videos are cool, so they have more fans than a band that makes boring things. They had a bit of exposure before their biggest hit though; they had a song or two on Madden 2003. Someone obviously liked them.
