The summer months are upon us, and along with them are summer flings, flourishing relationships, best friends, and possibly college. It's summer music, however, that keeps us going through all these good and bad times that June, July, and August always seem to bring.

Boom, reeled you in with the thoughtful intro, now for the good stuff. Kyle (kidchino08) and myself came up with a (hopefully) great idea today while hating on the 'Punk Goes Classic Rock' release. Since the AP members compilations of original songs have gone through 4, soon to be 5, successful releases, we thought maybe a cover compilation wouldn't be too farfetched.

Everybody has their 'summer jam.' Regardless of what genres you listen to, everyone has that one song, maybe more, that goes hand in hand with driving with the windows down (cliche, but stick with me).

Granted, this idea is very preliminary, but we think it'd be something that could possibly catch on. It's all up to your feedback, though. We need some suggestions to get off the ground before we get this whole thing going. So toss us a line, let us know some of your favorite summer music, and we'll start with that. Also, I'm being told to suggest artwork ideas as well. So if anyone is interested in that, let us know.

Once we get past this first stage, we'll figure out which songs to use, and which members want to take part. Hopefully you all think this is a pretty sick idea, because we're pretty proud of it. If the reaction is good, we can start matching cover songs with users, and possibly start recording in May, aiming for a June/July release.

So without further ado, what are your favorite...summer jams?

EDIT: We know you guys have some serious talent out there! Even if you don't think you do, bite the bullet and record something anyways; it might make the comp!

If you're for sure not going to record something, though, just be sure to throw some suggestions out! Maybe you can bring out your creative side and put some artwork together; it'd be much appreciated!

I'm aware I haven't said anything new in this edit, but I just want to reiterate what I said before. This has the potential to be so, SO awesome, so we want a lot of people to have fun with it. For those of you that get done with artwork or a recording pretty early, feel free to send it to me and/or kidchino08, and we'll look through them right away. Thanks, all!

These are just submissions that have both artist and song title. Now there are a ton of bands, seriously, that are perfect for this (see: pop-punk). Cover anything to your heart's desire in whatever way you want. Keep the suggestions coming, I'll add them as they come.

EDIT 3: We have decided to make it 25 songs as of right now. If there's not that many submitted, we'll bend. Also, to clear up any possible confusion, me and kidchino08 aren't going to put together a list of songs to choose from. Just pick any song you want to cover, and then leave it up to us to wade through all the submissions. Thanks, again, guys!

I'm going to do a song for this too. It's for fun. It's what makes AP fun. People enjoy doing it, comparing songs, making the "scene" a little tighter all over the country. Its something people do for fun. Plus it'd make some cool covers for people's iPods. So yeah if you don't like it then don't do it and don't be a douche

I guess you could say I have that. But I already have a song up for submission in the Music Comp thread and I wouldn't want people to get sick and tired of me all over the place haha Plus I can't sing. I did do a nice cover of Untitled by Blink once though. My voice wasn't so bad on it.

i'd make the song almost unrecognizable. i'd try and follow the same melody, and obviously keep the lyrics the same, but yeah i dunno... i think it has potential to be cool. but maybe i will just stick with doing an acoustic cover or something.

you should make the deadline at the BEGINNING of summer, so we have the whole thing to listen to during the summer. seems kinda silly to "release" it in September, when summer's over... imo

i think that read wrong. what i meant was my acoustic recordings sound fine, but i don't actually have drums or anything and my electric set up isn't too good so full band recordings sound pretty bad. but i don't even know if i'm gonna do this for sure, and if i do, i may try it a few ways and see what i like...
