The lamp on the table sits silently, a witness watching in painful adoration
While he shakes and her earth quakes in between a delicate sea of cotton
A scene of lust so beautifully disturbing, her body still twisting, still yearning
For one last chance at freedom, one more night to sleep at home all alone

Left your clothes in a pile by the front door as you went running inside
You stood underneath that running water screaming obscenities
In between gasping breaths you’d scrub at those permanent memories
As if you thought something could possibly make you feel clean again

This won’t quite go away, understand, this will be forever
And with this sudden change you’ll never feel any better
It’s a goddamn shame, cause in some ways you’ll never be lonely
The person you’re with, it’s not a gift, just a nightmare you’ll keep living

And now you’re fractured, just a shell, a memory of your former self
Your white dress, well, it looks like hell against the black of your eyes

This won’t quite go away, understand, this will be forever
And with this sudden change you’ll never feel any better
It’s a goddamn shame, cause in some ways you’ll never be lonely
The person you’re with, it’s not a gift, just a nightmare you’ll keep living
