Sounds like this record will have more mainstream appeal.

yeah, more alternative/rock appeal. i'm not feeling this new stuff as much as their previous records.

Thats cool..thanks for checking the track out. The album definitely does have more of a rock appeal..it's pretty diverse, but ultimately a legit alt rock album.

I agree. I think this album is also much more of a grower. While New Medicines got old after a while, I continue to like this album the more I listen.

im not a fan of this newer dead poetic so far. too mainstream sounding. and some idiot on here said the other say it sounds "rap-rock"ish. whoever said that was way off and a total idiot/liar.

yes, i agree with you. not rap rock at all.

Well I loved their two previous records, and I'm sure this one will be no exception, since it's still Brandon's voice. However, I do kind of wish they didn't jump on the "oh no, everyone screams these days, let's just drop the screaming and do plain old rock" bangwagon.

that bandwagon sucks for the most part....not to many bands can pull that off.

i think its fuckin awesome, it has a very maynard feel to it from the vocal progressions and melodies all the way to the backing instrumentals, but it fuckin rocks, i love old and new DP. I personally only really want to hear some keys on the chorus to make that chorus stand out as HUGE as possible. Im all about big production. I have nothing but praise on this...really good!

After a few listens, I'm starting to like this (http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=D6A0087D2014036B) song.

I suck at webrips.

you can definitely see some tool influence going in the bass lines. i dig it. i think theirs a lot more to the music than just catchiness factor which is why it immediately gets labeled alt-rock. just because something can be played all over the radio doesnt make it shitty. im sure this release will take this band to places that they have dreamed of.

Yeah, I guess you're right. The band shouldn't have made the album that they wanted to - they should have made an album exactly how you wanted it. Maybe just like New Medicines?

i actually liked new medicines more than four walls blackmail.

usually people would like a debut more than the sophmore or anything else.

i love the sarcasm. its a double edge sword. its like "well if finch would have just released what it is to burn volume 2" and so on. Bands have to do what they feel is right in their hearts when they write the songs. Its about "righting" the record, not so much "writing" the record. Members leave, thats a factor but the biggest one is that the band is not in the same place they were mentally, physically, emotionally when their past shit was done. Growth is key.

I love New Medicines - it's one of my favorite albums. However, I really didn't want to hear another screamo record from them, Brandon's voice is just to pretty. I'm loving what I've heard of the new songs so far, especially "In Coma."

everyone likes his voice....unfortunetly the 3 times i saw them he was singing horribly off-key. i dont know whats up with that and everyone says when they've seen them his voice was really good.

I loved the first two records (obviously) so I'm guessing I'll love this one, even though it'll be a grower. I don't like the new song, but I didn't like Narcotic the first time I heard it and now it's stuck in my head like nobody's business. So we'll see.

i'm pretty sure it's ok for you to make your snarky comment, i mean it's your opinion. unfortunately people and bands just have to come to grips with not everything they do is liked. personally i am really looking forwards to this album. i picked up new medicines on a whim. it was on sale so i bought it not even knowing what type of music it was or anything, and after i heard narcotic i have been antcipating this album for a long time. i will most likely preorder the new album.

oh and another thing, new medicines was really good

That's exactly what they should have done.

That album was great.

If you ever back-sass me like that again I will reach through your computer screen and bash your head into the wall until you're as coherent as Terry Shiavo.

You insignificant fuck.

it should be before too long. it'll probably be some special edition one or something through towerrecords.com ...that seems to be the way these things generally work.

all i have to say is: SLADE775, you should never from this moment foward be allowed to give an opinion about ANYTHING ever again ,. ignorant people (such as yourself) do not deserve the right to speak. and as for your comments regarding Dead Poetic and thier new material... if you don't like it, then leave it at that and quit trying to piss everyone off. we all have our different opinions on here and you seem to be the only one NOT respecting others'. DP are fucking doing the best they can and are finally releasing something they are all in love with and if you don't like it, then fine, but you better respect that and quit giving them a hard time... you're a fucking loser with apparent bad taste in music., the thing that gets me the most about you is you fucking keep on even when you know that an actual member of the band you are trash talking is commenting on this thread and that doesnt seem to phase you at all. you should seriously do all of us a favor and go ahead and delete your account on AP before one us gets really pissed and has you banned.

...and that's all i'm going to say to you right now cause i'm not wasting anymore of my time dealing with someone as pathetic as you are.

thanks for getting back to me on that. well as soon as thats available you can bet i will be ordering it. oh and i just heard the new song, its awesome. narcotic had a very catchy thing going that made it hard for me to stop listening, but this one is just down rigth good. I'm glad you guys are writing music like this. This album should be way better than New Medicines, which is probably what you are hoping for as well.

penfold...good job on that, you handled it very well.
