I've put at least 160 hours into my Fallout 3 character so far (I just have a few quests in Broken Steel left, then I'll be completely done with pretty much everything in the game), so I am definitely looking forward to this. The weapon customization sounds cool, as does the reputation system. One of the developers really did have a point when he said that killing somebody in secret should not have an effect on what other people think of you, since they never saw it happen. I just hope that there are lots of new enemies and weapons, since we've seen a bunch of the stuff in the New Vegas screenshots in F3 already.

Fallout 3 was amazing you're a fucking idiot who's probably stuck in the past. Yes Fallout has a great lineage, yes First Person anything is getting more and more played out. However Fallout 3 was definitely one of the best games of this generation, though New Vegas won't have graphics on par with say Uncharted 2, or Crysis, it WILL be a fantastic game.

I heard so much good stuff about Fallout 3, bought the Game of The Year version with the additional maps.

Played it for a few hours. What a waste of money.

Well, the storylines were garbage, the original ending was garbage, the DLC were garbage. I finished every single mission, played the game as a hero, nice character, then switched over to being a villian. Had every follower possible, the only ones I enjoyed having around was Jericho and Fawkes, the rest sucked. Can't someone have an opinion on a game? I'm not stuck in the past, I just didn't think the game was good. I kept playing it due to being bored, with the hope that it would eventually be cool and have a rad mission, it just kept dissapointing me. The VAT's mode was boring and got old. It just seemed that once you hit a certain level you could destroy everything instantly, minus death claws. The bloody mess perk was terrible. So yeah, I know a ton about the game dude, and I play video games often and have a video game sleeve on my left arm. I give every single game a fair chance, but when I reflect upon my time playing Fallout 3 I feel that it was time wasted. The only redeeming part of this game was Liam Neesons voice was your father, and going through Paradise falls and abolished slavery, and the Cannibal town of Andale. Give me a Metal Gear Solid, God of War, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Uncharted, Legend of Zelda, or fucking Mario title and I'll put them up against Fallout anyday. I thought the game could have been great, but personally it was flawed to much, to many glitches, and the figthing just looked terrible, the punching and swimming in that game looks like total shit.

Just because I don't want to quote your whole post: I agree VATS gets tiring after a while and the ending of the game was awful. Other than that though, I had a lot of fun playing it and liked most of the main quest and side quests.

I got all fanboy my bad, however I disagree with you opinion I will respect it. Props for MGS and Uncharted references, Nintendo games are instant classics however I wish more people would pick up Uncharted 2, the multiplayer is hands down more fun and engaging than MW2, and doesn't need the crutches of a bunch of silly perks.

The end result of Fallout 3 was simply a Bethesda game set in the Fallout universe. Hopefully having some old Black Isle folks' hands on Bethesda's format will make a Fallout 3 style game that feels as much like the old Fallout games as possible.

I had a ton of fun with F3. Unfortunately, I'm a PS3 user and I have rage quit for months at a time due to the freezing. It gets so annoying having to save every five seconds just to avoid getting far and having to redo it from the game freezing. I hope that the PS3 version isn't a half assed port or whatever made it freeze so much like F3

I'm mildly excited for this. I loved Fallout 3 to death. But so far, New Vegas looks... the same, I guess. Not sure if it's bringing enough new stuff to the table to warrant me getting it. And it's being made by a different developer, so I'm a bit worried. I think I'll rent New Vegas sometime after it comes out, and if I like it, I'll ask for it for Christmas, or something.

Fallout 1 and 2 were nothing at all like Fallout 3. And I haven't played the original two. But that still comforts me slightly, considering those guys lost their franchise due to a technicality.

Personally, my favorite thing about Fallout 3 was its level of immersion and detail. I felt like I every time I played the game I would be lost in its world, and I felt like a lot of the quests were incredibly fun and fleshed out the surroundings of the game remarkably (i.e. Agatha's Song, Republic of Dave, all the Vault experiments, etc). Also, I felt like playing through Fallout 3 good or evil impacted the play experience much more dramatically than a lot of other games that claim to integrate an effective karma system. I first played through once as a "good" character, not going out of my way for side quests but taking them when they popped up, and I logged a heavy number of hours through the game and had a good time. Second play through, evil (naturally) and I felt like I was playing a completely different game at times. Only a handful of quests overlapped from my other play through and I definitely felt like I got my money's worth.

I guess it should be noted that RPGs are my favorite genre of game. Comparing Fallout 3 to (like someone said a couple posts up) Final Fantasy XIII or Oblivion is a little different than comparing it to Metal Gear Solid or Devil May Cry.

I know they were nothing like Fallout 3. I'm just saying that the universe is in good (and probably even better) hands. It looks like they're bringing some of the humor back to the franchise, whilst still using the groundwork that FO3 laid out. I'd give the game a buy, as I honestly think I'll enjoy it even more than FO3.

"Review Embargo until 10.19 Check back soon"

I wonder if this could be a potential bad sign if they're waiting until release day for reviews to come out?

I've put in about 3 hours today and enjoying the hell out of it. As many has said, it's basically the same game as Fallout 3. Which isn't a bad thing though. If I could remember to save more often I'd enjoy it more! I seem to die a lot and forget to save and get sent back an hour of gameplay, shit blows sometimes. My biggest gripe is that I never have enough ammo or stimpacks, I am not sure if that's me or just the game design.

You can sneak in to New Vegas by wearing an NCR uniform and entering through their camp/headquarters place or whatever.

This game is pretty sweet. At first I had my doubts, but the Mojave Wasteland is proving to be just as fun as the Capitol Wasteland was in FO3.

I was randomly dicking around in this game when I got the quest where you have to go into Vault 34 and stop the radiation leakage. I figured it'd be a walk in the park, but damn, that place kicked my ass. Even with the space suit on I still took in a ton of radiation, and I had to constantly use all my stimpacks to save myself from death by ghoul attack. I wish there was a ghoul mask in this game.

get good at Caravan and start playing the crazy dude from Novac he bets at least 500 caps a game.
Or you can get an NCR hat out of the unoccupied tent in Primm, and take the monorail from the McCarran airport.

in my case, i played caravan my entire way there and just happened to have 4000 by the time i got to the strip. Mind you I didn't really do any side quests.

But sidequests make the game more fun. You should do them.

Fuck i just realised i disabled White and i only brought him one of the snowglobes. Can i still bring them to Jane?

lolol I realized that too. Actually i wanted to complete the main quest then go fuck around with all the sidequests. I'll probably do the same thing I did with fallout 3 and get every map marker.

If you complete it all the way you can't do any more quests. I guess you could make a new game and do hardcore mode so you can get the platinum trophy, assuming you do all the other trophies.

or save before the end? I saved before the final mission so i can play from there. They're going to have add on that'll lengthen the story mode eventually. Hardcore mode is ridiculous.

i don't think it would be too hard... i would just fast travel to frickin Goodsprings and New Vegas all the time to buy water and food.
Also, doesn't the Vault 13 canteen give you water?

I think if the fast travel was to work properly in accordance with hardcore mode, then you would need water before and after fast traveling. IN fast travelling the time changes as if you were to walk there so water should too.

I definitely screwed up my current play through (spoilers if you haven't gotten far) I decided to kill Mr. House because I was curious if he was an actual person, which I found out he is, and is a very handsome man I might add. After I did this I decided to not save cause I wanted to see how itll end up with him alive. Well that was like 8 hours of gameplay ago and I realized that I have somehow been playing the game with Mr. House dead. So I guess I accidentally saved it. I found out after I head someone say "I heard that Mr. House has been missing, I think his robots did him in." I literally said WHAT. THE. FUCK? I wanted to keep him alive. The game isn't ruined but not going the way I want.

/random story

Amazing, amazing game.

I think using speech is like a crutch, so I don't do it till my third or fourth playthrough with my silvertounged ballah.

Btw, I don't get the rules of Caravan at all.

Also, been playing hardcore mode, it isn't what it's cracked up to be. The easiest way to do it is with a Melee character and have a good amount of survival, and just carry a bunch of food around with you. You can fast travel without drinking or eating before hand, however while fast traveling dehydration and starvation levels increase. Hopefully that helps you out, I'm mid-way through the game as of now.

P.S Companions CAN die in Hardcore mode, so avoid using them.

Its just an assumption. fast traveling pretends that the time is passing and you are actually moving from point a to point b, it's possible you'll need water during fast traveling....

I've been so obsessed with playing this (went from level 0-26 in a few days...which I don't think is bad considering I'd consider myself a casual gamer) but the constant freezing and glitches that have caused me to restart from old saves many a times are starting to get on my nerves. Maybe if I put it down for a few days I'll be able to stand looking at it again without wanting to break my controller.

It's just tragic, because they have such a great game here.

Also, I've only been doing side quests (Thank you Fallout 3 for your short anti climatic story that makes me afraid to progress), and they are so much fun. I finally talked to Benny and got some shit done, and once all those choices were put in front of me I felt really overwhelmed. I'm not the kind of person to replay games so I'm afraid I'll fuck up and miss out on a lot. For example I'm afraid to do missions for the Legion as I want to continue my friendship with NCR, and I don't know enough about Mr. House to know whether or not he's evil enough to warrant destruction. I'm thinking I might attempt to work with Yes Man, but I'm afraid it will give me bad karma

If those sound like complaints they aren't meant to. On the contrary, I love just almost everything in this game.

Except trying to play it. Then restarting it. Over and over.

/rant...Sorry...had to do it somewhere.

Also, fuck Deathclaws.

There is no middle ground with the Legion/NCR it's one or the other...I learned that the hard way trying to do missions for both...all NCR/Legion missions then disappeared. Also, I could say stuff about Mr. House but I don't know if that would spoil too much for you...all I will say is that I kill him everytime!

Oh yea, haha, I also hate the glitches! It's why i'm such a savewhore. I save my game frequently...more like all the time just because of those glitches! It does make me frustrated and if it happens enough I turn off the game for a while...but enevitably I come back! I've already beaten it once before the new DC came out and had started a new game where i'm trying to be good (people just have so much stuff that I want to steal and sell back to them :P haha) and i'm succeeding in being good! Staying with the NCR this time around too! I hate how Legion is against chems...I use med-x, psycho, jet and others all the time in battle!
