porches are the best. my house has a huge porch and a swinging bench that a couple of the guys built. the best is sitting out there with a few beers on a nice day.

Don't have one right now at my apartment...but mark my words, next year when I move out of here I am definitely getting either a big front porch (screened in or not) or a big deck out back. AND hopefully a big fenced-in yard for my dogs.

why would a porch diminish the value of every home on a street? lots of houses in my neighborhood have front porches and back screened porches and open decks, like my house. i don't see why that would be a detractor of any kind. i've never heard that one before.

if the deck isn't kept up and is trashy more or less it can take away from the value of a house, otherwise it can add value. but a sidenote, i'm thinking of all the rich people's houses and mansions i've ever been in and i can't think of any that had a deck/porch. they either have a gazebo or a large balcony. i'm probably forgetting a few though, and frankly im not going to sit here and try to think of any i missed ha.

our porch is rather small, but we fit five chairs out there. its always the place to go to have deep conversations and drink beer. i've only lived in this apartment for 4 months but i've already got a ton of great memories from being out there with my friends.

we've already called the police on them before because of a domestic violence issue, so their dogs are the least of our problems with them. plus the puppies are precious and sometimes we get to play with them haha.

yeah, i'm not trashy and i don't live in a trashy neighborhood so that would never cross my mind. i grew up in some sort of swanky neighborhoods (not to brag, it's just the truth) and lots of the homes had decks. Maybe it just depends on the area of the country you live in. :shrug:

Pretty much everyone in my neighborhood has a deck/porch as well. I'm just thinking of those million dollar+ homes, i'm sure they have them somewhere but i dunno. again, i don't really care enough about this topic to wrap my head around it haha.
