Just watched this tonight and it was seriously great. Ewen MacGregor was fascinating in it. My only problem was their very thick accents, there were parts that i couldnt understand for the life of me, but it was a blast to watch. The ending sequence when he is walking away and saying how he is going to change, was very moving. I have every reason to believe that he will turn his life around, and it really made me smile.
Have a lot of other people seen this? Appreciate it.

well thats a part of it, it was super gross. The movie is def. not for the weak stomached. I hate needles, so its always tough to watch, but it was still great.

Fantastic movie. I love how parts actually had to be subtitled when it was in American cinemas yet everyone in the UK is fine with it

Anyone read the book? Its great but the end is slightly confusing, he decides he's going to leave the life of drugs behind and start a new life in... Amsterdam WTF?

One of my favorites. On first listen, I couldn't understand the accents AT ALL but then on second listen I could understand a lot better.

haha, yeah, the part in the club had to be subtitled right before the guy with the knife got his mack on with a man, we were all laughing so hard. I had a group of chums over and they werent feelign it at first because of all the needles, but we all ended up cheering at the end. It really made me feel so good at the end.

I saw it in seventh or eight grade I think. Never EVER touched a drug in high school, haha.
The only one I have trouble understanding is Bigsby. I've seen it about 10-15 times and I'm still lost on most of his dialogue.

I love this film. I've not watched it in ages. I think Spud's job interview has to be my favourite bit. "Your leisure is my pleasure."

have you seen it before or you just bought it because you heard it was good?
I love this movie and need to see it again. And I agree about thick accents, but I usually (like 90% of the time) watch english/other movies with subtitles, so it was fine.

The part with (I think) Spud and his girlfriend's family at breakfast is absolutely disgusting. Hilarious though.

the sequel to the book talks about that. It takes place 9 years later with Renton owning a nightclub in Amsterdam.
Danny Boyle said he's planning on making a movie out of it but he's just waiting for all the actors to age more.

The book for Requiem for a Dream is a really old book so it could not have ripped off Trainspotting, unless you're speaking in technical aspects but I don't see that

It is based on a novel from 1978, so that would be difficult.
Love both movies though.

It's been 13 years! Haven't they aged enough?
Edit: Nevermind, I just read that Boyle thinks Ewan still looks good for his age. Hahah. He's going to have to wait forever of he thinks Ewan can lose an ounce of his good looks.

I only skimmed page 4, but I saw some references to Requiem and have to say I think Requiem is a much, much, much better film. Sure Trainspotting is a good film but Ive seen it so many times I dont know if I could again without wanting to gouge my eyes out.
