any hardcore racing sim fans? those of you who take your racing games seriously should know there is no substitute for this series. there isn't a more realistic game in ANY genre than GT4 is for racing, and that shit was released years before PS3. and GT5's gonna be even better.

i recently bought the original (for PS1) on amazon for like 3 bucks and i'm better at it than ive ever been, won several cups that ive never won before. i got the race-modded version of the dodge concept car and it's fucking fast as shit but for some reason whenever the road isn't completely flat the speedometer gets all wobbly, my controller starts vibrating in really weird ways, and it either loses speed or fails to accelerate. why the fuck does that happen? ive tried changing the suspension and stabilizers, replacing the racing flywheel with a normal flywheel, all kinds of stuff and nothing seems to work.

GT4 is such an amazing game. I remember going from a used Miata to an off-road GT40. So rewarding getting all of the different prize cars after the endurance races.

I think GT3 was the only one I got and I hated the license tests or whatever so I stopped playing it. Shit was retarded but the actual racing was fun.

Oh how I loved the cruisin' series, I have to admit I get bored with GT...I mostly play forza 3 now. I am looking forward to GT5 though... if it ever comes out.

I would get this if it was on 360, PS controller is shit for racing games.

Ps3 controller is best for racing games, the 360 is horrid because the thumb-sticks aren't aligned.

Left thumb stick=steering, right thumb stick=acceleration/brake. With the 360 controller it makes that awkward.

I don't use that, left thumbstick for steering and then the triggers (right for acceleration and left for braking) which you can use more easily as you feather the throttle which most real racing drivers do when going through a corner and then you can easily pull the throttle when exiting the corner and put pedal to the metal, never heard of using the thumbstick for anything outside of Halo.

I can feather just fine with the thumbstick (since the Playstation's has a greater angular dimension). If you have triggers for acc/brake then for shifting you'd have to resort to the bumpers or r1/r2, which is also somewhat awkward (since it's most comfortable to use index fingers for the triggers as opposed to middle fingers).

True...but I personally prefer the feel of a trigger, because at least it's like a paddle shifter.
