i think that was the purpose of it though- to come off desperate and reckless. and i like that much, much better than pop punk. it is much more powerful in my opinion.

YFW. Easily.
Daisy, while i do enjoy some tracks has little lasting value, especially compared to the rest of Brand New's discography.
I will force a late term abortion upon the next pregnant woman I see if Your Favorite Weapon wins this poll.
I will do the same if Daisy wins. So i guess one fetus will go unborn-ed!
Your Favorite Weapon.
Aside from "Vices," "Gasoline," "Sink," and "Bought A Bride," I don't really like anything off Daisy. I've still yet to get sick of "Seventy Times Seven," "Failure By Design," "Logan To Government Center," "Mix Tape," and pretty much the rest of the album aside from a couple of tracks.

Daisy was so passionate in it's recklessness, although some of the lyrics seemed to be there just to fill space. Your Favorite Weapon was spectacular, but that was just a different Brand New than the one we have today. And I'd have to say I like the direction Brand New has headed.

Hahaha it's alright, I think I might be the only Brand New fan on here who doesn't like Deja past the first 5 songs.
Deja is overrated. Devil and God is their best album. Yes I understand the irony of this statement coming from the guy who has Deja in his username but it's the honest truth IMO.

Daisy is a loud noisy mess. Your Favorite Weapon has great songs (Jude Law, Soco Amaretto Lime, etc.) and a sound that I really miss from them. Hard to see how Brand New can get better with every album and then drop a steaming pile of Daisy.
Deja is overrated. Devil and God is their best album. Yes I understand the irony of this statement coming from the guy who has Deja in his username but it's the honest truth IMO.
I thought I was the only one who thought this? I love Deja, but Devil And God is just bliss. But I think the latter two albums were better than the first two, but that's purely because I feel like the pop-punk genre is... boring. It doesn't do anything for me, minus seventy x7 and Soco Amoretta, YFW is... pointless. But Daisy, I don't even like that type of music normally and Vices, You Stole, In A Jar, Gasoline, Bought A Bride, Sink all feel more alive than anything on YFW.
This has nothing to do with the musical ability or originality of the styles, just my opinion.

That's a stupid point to make. A lot of bands have shitty debut albums. Brand new stuck around because the next two albums after YFW were big improvements and showed progressive development. Deja was much better than it's predecessor, and TDAG was much better than Deja. Daisy isn't quite as good as TDAG, but still in the same ballpark- a ballpark that is far removed from YFW.

thats not what you were saying before. but that's moot. who's to say that their songwriting is more evolved and not just stranger or more eclectic? you gotta understand that all music is subjective because it's art and there is no concrete definition of what is and is not progress.

So let's just say after they made 'Millennium,' the Backstreet Boys decided to make 'Born To Run.' Chronologically, I'm aware, this is incorrect. However, you wouldn't classify this as progress at all? At all? Music is about 90% subjective, 10% have some common sense.

That argument is easily seen if you listen to all of Daisy (which you haven't). It resembles a Nirvana-esque sound, which again is very "desperate" and "reckless". You can hear the desperation in both Jesse's vocal shrieks and chilling whispers.

You talking which album is my personal favorite or which album is better? Those are two completely different questions, mate. Which is "better" is Daisy without question. Much more complex songwriting, song structuring, layering of instruments, and the technicality is through the roof. But, which album is my "favorite" of the two is YFW. I'd spin that album any day of the week whereas I have to be in a certain mood to get into Daisy, but that doesn't make it the better album at all.

yeah. but the name of the thread is the two that are usually in last- i got it because in the "favorite br& new album" polls, these two are always way way way far back. it wasn't a poll for which album is the second best, it is more a survey of which album AP fans like more/ think is better.
