Of course. Watching the 4 games last year, I know what to expect without the right QB in there.

Ward will play though, and that helps. But I have zero confidence in Batch, he had a good half against Cleveland and that's all he's done in 3 years as a Steeler. Unless Culpepper is a turnover machine, this will be tough to win.

Kordell had good regular seasons in 97 and 01, even going to the Pro Bowl in 01. Of course he choked in the AFC-C both times.

Batch has never had a season as good as Kordell's best years. And he's not mobile, and this o-line's pass protection is a bit shoddy right now. If Miami was some scrub team coming off a 4-12 season, this wouldn't really matter.

I'm getting a Jacksonville/Baltimore vibe from this game. The defense played pretty well, but they still lost in OT, mostly because of QB blunders. The running game will have to be top notch, the defense will need to come up with turnovers, and Batch has to play smart.

Jacobs would shit his pants if he had to play in this game, he's not ready. He's on the practice squad, so they could bring him up if they want. A vet QB will be brought in instead, I just hope it's not St. Pierre or Maddox.

I'm thinking the same exact thing as well. I trust Batch playing smart. I just don't trust him making any big plays. We will need a few of those, of course. I'm just not sure if he's capable of doing just that. I dunno.

They're probably gonna sign a QB sometime this week. A veteran being more likely. Who that may just be, who knows.

You're talking about 5 years ago, the guy's done next to nothing since 2001.

I believe he had 3 redzone turnovers in the preseason as well. Not that preseason performance is that important, but fundamental errors like that kill a team.

even if it hurts more than i think, i'd rather it be happening now than later in the season. whatever happens now, they'll be able to recover from.

i'm not too worried.

PITTSBURGH — The Steelers announced today that cornerback Ike Taylor has signed a five-year contract that will keep him with the team through the 2010 season.

There's already an article in the Post-Gazette about it. It wasn't that they wouldn't be able to afford him. It's just that they would have needed to sign Polamalu in a year and Taylor's signing bonus would set a standard.

Consider NFL salaries are a lot higher than they were 10 years ago. Also it was probably the last time we had a decent CB.

Batch came through with the big throw to Miller, but he was only 7/15 for 66 yards even when he had the 2 TDs. About as good a performance they could have hoped for from him. Defense came up huge too.
