More Likely to Bomb? (Summer Blockbuster Edition)

Both of these upcoming summer action movies cost upwards of 100 million to produce.
Both have a built in audience. (Fans of terrible 80's television and gamers)

Both also have great potential to bomb at the box office.

Which is more likely to pull a Waterworld?

1) The A-Team (2010)

-or-

2) Prince of Persia: Sands of Time


note: I personally hope both do, The A-Team rehash is unoriginal and unnecessary, and based on the trailer P of P just seems tacky and stupid. (IMO)

i voted A-Team. i think Prince of Persia has a more dedicated fanbase than an 80s tv show does. also, ive been in theatres where both trailers have played, and the reactions for Prince of Persia have been pretty blank, while A-Team gets some chuckles. or maybe thats good thing...

The previews look bad, nobody knows what it is about, and I dont real think Jake Gil has a dedicated fan base. Like I know there was the pirates of the carribean comparision but that had Depp .... big difference

The A Team's cast is stacked enough to draw in more people than Jake as a gameboy pocket star.

If you look back at literally EVERY SINGLE VIDEO GAME MOVIE EVER, you'll know that Prince of Persia will bomb. The highest a video game based movie has ever gotten on Rotten Tomatoes is a 44% and that was the Final Fantasy cartoon movie with the FFVII characters. They literally never do good (Halo and Bioshock, if they're ever made, will possibly be the first exceptions).

The A-Team is a summer action movie, so regardless of what people know about it, it will do good. I've never seen 1 episode of the show but I'm gonna see the shit out of this movie.

Video game movies just don't have it. The only thing that MAY help save this one is Jake Gyllenhaal but I highly doubt it.

Prince of Persia is the Jake Gylenhall version of Pirates of the Caribbean. It won't make nearly as much, but it'll still make coin.

The A-Team will end up like GI Joe, being fucking terrible but somehow still making money.
