Official bio:
Let it be said that we find it hard to generalize a labor of passion, one in the realm of music, to say that it 'sounds like all of these other sounds' but in the interest of convenience: "The Proposal" has a style that melds the melodic emo, screamo, and post-hardcore styles.
The band has had revolving members around a core of lead guitarist - Cody Nickerson and bassist - Joe Onorato since late 2002. As visions and styles changed, members parted ways in the September of 2004. Months and members later the gears finally matched up to create a fluid music machine with a new name and a new energy. Immediately Cody and Joe welcomed their newest members, Brian DeRosa and AJ Greguoli, ready to make some serious tunes and set their sights higher.
After self-recording their demo overnights at Cody's school (NEIA) in Brookline, mixing the tracks, and putting together the packages by hand, the band had their first tangible progress. With a new confidence, the band raised their business savvy to meet their musical passion and talent and started booking their own shows. The band successfully self-booked a month long tour of the east that spanned from May to June of 2005; they played venues from CBGB's in NY to Big Daddy’s in Florida, a few shows outside of Chicago, over to a packed in garage show in South Carolina that had over 200 people in attendance. They toured in a humble van plastered with NASCAR gear from its previous owner. The band was forced into poverty by love, putting their jobs and lives on hold to chase the dream. The Proposal has also driven as much as 22 hours just to play a single show for demanding fans.
With the band coming out of New Alliance Studio in Boston on July 9, 2005 with a new 5 song EP that shows they mean more than business. After recording the debut EP in July of 2005, The Proposal has been hard at work promoting the release. They attend almost every New England show you can think of and pass out flyers and/or CD’s. They also have a street team with members across the country doing the exact same. In addition, MTV has notified the band to let them know that they are one of twenty remaining bands in the “MTV/Coke Make it Real Contest,” in search of America’s hardest working band, (results are yet to be released). The band is currently looking for a label to support them as much as they support themselves.
UPDATES: Cody Nickerson has left the band to pursue other interests, including running the recording studio he produced the Proposal's debut EP in. They have welcomed a new guitarist, Kevin Carr, to the band.
The band was featured in Alternative Press's "AP&R" section in May 2006 (Hawthorne Heights cover).
The band just completed a tour this summer that saw them all over the country. They won over new fans and satisfied their old ones on this tour. They are set to tour again this winter.
