Anyone seen Primer? Well, I wanted to know if anyone has seen anything similar. Maybe not plot wise, but just something very convoluted and a little hard to follow. Momento comes to mind, but that has an ending which makes sense.

The brave little toaster. For the life of me I couldn't make heads or tails out of it.

Just joshin' around. Try these... Timecrimes, Gattaca, Thx 1138. Timecrimes was a really small, but in the end, supremely satisfying little sci-fi, suspense flick.

Gattaca was awesome, i find that i enjoy anything with Ethan Hawke. Well, since the late 90's. I've heard of Time Crimes, I need to see it. Same with Thx 1138.
Not really similar to Primer, but have you seen Entropy with Stephen Dorff? I loved that movie, but I cant find it anywhere.

I have not seen that... I'll netflix it. I would definitely watch timecrimes. If you're looking for a "how the hell does that make sense?" type of movie, then you will really enjoy it.

Good, thanks. So Netflix has Entropy in their database?
plot from IMDB
Stephen Dorff narrates this tale about how his life goes astray as his character attempts to strike a balance between the demands of directing his first film and the pressures of his new romance with a model.
Sounds pretty basic, I guess you'de just have to watch it

I checked out Timecrimes on IMDB, and it showed a movie with the same title coming out in 2011...I guess this is being remade?
Oh, and its coming from Spain, [REC] was also from Spain, therefore, i will watch.

Ok so you've seen Momento right? Compared to Primer, Momento makes PERFECT sense.
In other words, Primer is confusing as shit.
Primer plot
At night and on weekends, four men in a suburban garage have built a cottage industry of error-checking devices. But, they know that there is something more. There is some idea, some mechanism, some accidental side effect that is standing between them and a pure leap of innovation. And so, through trial and error they are building the device that is missing most. However, two of these men find the device and immediately realize that it is too valuable to market. The limit of their trust in each other is strained when they are faced with the question, If you always want what you can't have, what do you want when you can have anything?
Interesting note, Shane Carruth, was the lead actor, director, producer, editor, composed the music. He hasnt released or been part of any other movie.

the only thing that turns me off right away is how crazy low the budget was

$7000
There are no special effects, which lowers the budget right away. Most of the scenes are either outside, an airport, at a storage unit, in a car (no green screen), or in a house (probably one of the crew members).
Mostly public places, so no need to anything but a filming permit. The acting is FAR from bad, you cannot compare this movie to a low budget horror flick, or that piece of shit "The Room".
EDIT: It was said that most of the budget was used for film stock, so it doesnt look "amateurish" at all, Just really grainy for some reason.

Check out another one callled "Nothing". Its a comedy sci-fi i guess if you want to call it that.
Two dudes that live together start to "wish" something would go away, and it does...So their left in a world of pure white, nothing around them, except their house and belongings.
You'll have to watch Primer more than once, just to gather all of the technical stuff. But there are so many things going on in that movie, its almost impossible to sum everything up right away.

Original and Zero, hypercube was a remake of the original with better effects.
Zero was the best, IMO, because it delt with the "business" side of the cube.

Check out "Following" by Christopher Nolan too, not time travel related or anything, but is sort of like Memento.

I saw Nothing years ago and have since completely forgot about it. I remember liking it at the time though, might have to check it out again.
