Oh I love Entourage, but it really is overrated. I also really like 24. Haven't really watched Lost.

I watched some of the first season, and I'm sure its great, but it gets way too much credit. The plot is just a series of crazy events that have nothing to say about society in general. Watch Carnivale for a crazy truly intelligent story.

Arrested Development and The Office come to mind as being overated. Arrested is funny at times, but got incredibly tired during the second season, and The Office is just plain not funny.

All your underrated's are in fact underrated, and the overrated's are in fact perfectly fine where they are. Well besides 24, I haven't actually caught the fever on that yet.

I own both seasons of Lost and Carnivale. Lost > Carnivale. Carnivale is excellent, but it didn't get to finish its' story and it never will get to finish it because Knauf and Moore moved on. Better yet, Battlestar Galactica > *.

The most underrated show of all time is Six Feet Under seeing as it is the best television series (writing, acting, directing) in history and I'm willing to bet a good amount of you have never seen an episode.

My parents used to rent the series and I watched the first episode but they said it "wasn't appropriate". They stopped watching once the humor drifted off the show.

Yeah, the series was definitely front heavy. But the last two episodes of season two remain the best two hours of television.

What does that even mean?

Relevance. You know, how relevant the show is to our every day lifes. How much of a statement is it to politics, life, religon. In Carnivale's case, religon

That was an extremely good show but I haven't had HBO in years and can never get around to renting the series. But I do know the whole entire series was thought up by Alan Ball which made me immediately want to see it.

I don't think Rescue Me can be considered overrated but few people here seem to mention it so I am going to do so and say that it is one of my favorite shows on television.

Relevance towards facets of life really does not affect my tv viewing experience. Carnivale is a great show, but Lost is better. That's the way I look at it, based off the general cinematic and aesthetic values, and sheer entertainment.

I mean, sure, Good Night, and Good Luck and An Inconvenient Truth are both significantly more relevant films than Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang last year and Little Miss Sunshine this year, but that doesn't stop them from me considering the best films from the two previous years over the former duo. If relevance determined the quality of visual mediums all that would be on TV would be varieties of history and news channels and all that would be out for film would be historical studies and documentaries. No fun!

Why does it have to say something about society in general?

But by the way, bullshit it says nothing about society. Look at the clashes of religion and culture that happen on the show...the underlying argument of science vs. faith, the commentary on drug addiction, the role of the father in the family, etc. This is a much deeper show than your tentative viewing can understand.

Eh. I watched a lot of the first season, and it just kept getting crazier and crazier without ever explaining anything. I missed a few episodes here and there, but I found the show too overdone.

It's still overrated, whether I like it or not.
I also do enjoy 24 and Entourage, both of which are good but get far too much credit.

Nip/Tuck is way overrrated in my opinion. It's just gory for shock value, and there's not much else going for it, from what I can tell.

Also overrated:

Family Guy
CSI(Las Vegas, Miami, NY, Boise, Decatur, Seattle, Salt Lake City....etc.)
Law & Order(I'm not even going to try and list them...)

Any good show that was canceled before its time(like Eyes or Wonderfalls, Everwood) are pretty underrated. Smart writing and a unique concept? Fuck that, lets watch According To Jim!

I thought about watching it at one point, not sure if its worth my time. It's one of the best series to ever be put to film. Don't let it's recent decline overshadow the fact that it's first three seasons were some of the most original and entertaining television ever.
