Last night Vinnie Caruana from I am the Avalanche played at chain reaction. Let me start off by saying I personally loved the show because it was small and personal with only about 100 kids being there, but I definitely believe he deserves far more than that. It was a last second show so that didn’t help the turnout but in a time where the next big scene band draws 300 kids for Vinnie to only have 100 or so is disappointing as a fan. Anyways he didn’t let that affect his show; he played with the most heart of anyone I’ve ever seen there. He cracked jokes, kept up a smile and genuinely was thankful for everyone in attendance. He didn’t talk much about I am the Avalanche but stated he wants a new CD just as bad as us, he also talked a little about his side project with steve choi from Rx bandits, and Durijah Lang from Glassjaw which I guess is why he came out to California to record songs. He played a pretty long set with almost every song I wanted to hear, not including every song from 40 Hour Train Back to Pen which I know he can’t play from back to back. He had a few technical difficulties with his guitar, breaking the same string twice in one night, but he played through it one of the openers let Vinnie use his guitar so he played on. All in all one of the best shows I’ve been to in a long time, I’m so happy he played, it was like Christmas morning!
Here are most of the songs he played in somewhat order.
New song
Ms Green
Drinking Song
Green Eyes
Hey
Saves the day cover
Always
Symphony
Conan O’brien
Clean Up
Hand Grenade
Brooklyn Dodgers
Walking on Glass
I Took a Beating
Im pretty sure that pretty close I might have forgot one or two or added one that he didn’t play.
