Synopsis:
Do we control our destiny, or do unseen forces manipulate us? Matt Damon stars in the thriller The Adjustment Bureau as a man who glimpses the future Fate has planned for him and realizes he wants something else. To get it, he must pursue the only woman he's ever loved across, under and through the streets of modern-day New York.
On the brink of winning a seat in the U.S. Senate, ambitious politician David Norris (Damon) meets beautiful contemporary ballet dancer Elise Sellas (Emily Blunt)-a woman like none he's ever known. But just as he realizes he's falling for her, mysterious men conspire to keep the two apart.
David learns he is up against the agents of Fate itself-the men of The Adjustment Bureau-who will do everything in their considerable power to prevent David and Elise from being together. In the face of overwhelming odds, he must either let her go and accept a predetermined path…or risk everything to defy Fate and be with her.
The Adjustment Bureau is written for the screen and directed by George Nolfi (writer of Ocean's Twelve, co-writer of The Bourne Ultimatum). It is based on a short story by Philip K. Dick ("Total Recall," "Minority Report" and "Blade Runner").

Matt damon must just be working all the time.
I always thought Ace Enders was the "Matt Damon" of music.
He's enough to draw me out to a movie.

I want this movie now. It reminds me of a non-gothic looking Dark City (and I love Dark City, not knocking it at all).

I'm not sure who is behind this new initiative to make me find Emily Blunt attractive but I'm not opposed.

I really can't wait for this movie. It gives me an Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind kinda vibe, and that excites me. I hope it's good.

This movie, while enjoyable, will not meet people expectations.
I heard about this movie quite some time ago. May have been last May actually, looking forward to it

Easily my favorite time of movie, can't wait to see this.
Why was it delayed, though? That's usually not a good sign, but I still have faith.

Ugh...sitting at 67% with 6 reviews. All be it, that isn't a big deal since it's only a few and it's early, but as much as I follow RT, this typically isn't a good sign.
One of the best trailers I've ever seen. Really hoping for greatness.

Did you like it?
Yeah, but without giving too much away I'll say how I went into it.
I was expecting a lot of Bourne hide-n-seek type of shit, like real cool chase scenes and awesome action sequences and what not. This has a lot of heavy romance in it, the trailer does show you that both of these are a big part of the movie, but I was hoping for more action.
That being said, it had quite a few good laughs, get chemistry between Damon and Blunt, and a really neat concept if you believe in, or have any interest in, 'fate'.

It was okay. Wasn't awful. Definitely hokey and the resolution was a bit sudden. Damon and Blunt had incredible chemistry though. All the reviews I read said the same thing, and it's true. They hold the movie together.

I basically felt the same way, except I adored their relationship, the acting, and the score so much it didn't really affect my final score...at least as much as it seemed to with you guys.

Just got back from this, liked it a lot. As everyone has said, Damon and Blunt were great together. I feel like the story/writing had a few rough spots but overall I really enjoyed it.
One thing that bothered me a bit was why Elise didn't try contacting David at all if she had such a connection to him

Something I've been thinking about for the past couple days did they ever address why the plan changed? that seems like a pretty big deal, like the thing that happens once every couple centuries, and it's just like Harry and Richardson don't know so nobody knows?

I didn't get that vibe. Not saying it wasn't there, but I might have missed it? Misinterpreted something?
To me it was more about us simply being in control of our own destiny/fate.
I think the "agents" and "chairman" were a higher power/being, but not necessarily angels or God. At one point Damon asks them if they're angels and they respond, 'Some people call us that." I think they were just behind-the-scenes pieces of how the world works that the majority of mankind doesn't know about and some people mistaken that for religion/angels/God/etc.
I feel like I'm articulating this horribly, but hopefully I got my basic point across.

To me, I almost took it as a big fuck you to religion, and not to follow it so blindly. Religious leaders/"Caseworkers" try to make you act in a certain way based on the the Bible/"the plan" tell you to, even tho they really don't know why you should to begin with. Interpretation of the bible has changed drastically since it's creation and people are always trying to use it to justify their means. and what's god/"the chairman" going to do if you deviate from the plan? just say "ok lol ill change it"? proving religion is just a big joke to try and control people

I quite liked it.
A bit inspirational, to take matters into your own hands, and to hell with what's supposed to happen.

Also, this.
I haven't seen this, but one of my really religions friends said it was pretty theologically sound...so...that's sort of the opposite of what people are saying in here. Now I'm confused.

Really enjoyed this a lot. Damon is one of my favorite actors, him and Emily Blunt (who's gorgeous) had terrific chemistry, and Anthony Mackie is certainly on my list of actors to watch (after this and The Hurt Locker). Definitely one of the best things I've seen so far this year.

just got around to watching this after missing a couple chances to see it. I think the story would have worked a lot better if Damon wasnt a well known politician. Knowing that he was so accessible and well known hurt the other side of the story
