View Full Version : Ladies, got any good inexpensive date ideas?

Thinking about asking a girl out on another date, but I decided i'd rather go to gigs instead of pay alot of money for dates.
Gimme some inexpensive date ideas; I had the idea to hit up the local coffee joint for amateur mic night and then take a walk on the waterfront, wouldn't cost more than five or six bucks. Other than that, i'm outta ideas.

Cheap date idea #1: Watch Half Baked, steal Dave Chapelle's complete date with Mary Jane from that
#2: Go see a movie together then get a drink and talk about said movie or about blowjobs or whatever, $22-30
Or you know, you could just get a fucking job and not try to go on $6 dates.

Go to Subway. Buy one footlong. You can eat about 8 inches. Give her the other four. Rather than splurging on chips and a drink, eat the chips as an appetizer while you wait in line and finish them before you get up to the counter. Don't buy a fresh baked cookie, but feel free to smell them as that's half the fun of the cookies anyway. Last but not least, feel free to ask for a water cup and get a delicious coca cola classic to split between the two of you. Note that the water cups can be small so ask her not to drink too much to avoid constant refills.
Once you've done that, you're as good as in her pants.

Your idea isn't bad, but instead of going to open mic night, go to lunch to someplace with a cool atmosphere, then go walk on the waterfront. Daytime will make the walk more enjoyable.

I second the picnic idea. I've always been a fan, and I think it would be really cute if you set one up. Although I guess it depends on how much of the food you already have. That's where the money comes in for that one.

I don't get why everyone in here are being such dick heads. Most girls have always liked creative dates as opposed to dishing out cash. You're from Portland right? The waterfront is perfect. Go to Rock Creek Park. Cool hike, nice view and its beautiful in there. It's kind of by West Linn. Hit the record stores downtown, coffee shops, you know. Good luck bro

Have a picnic, take a bike ride, if you have any nature trails/observation decks go walk along those, cook dinner for her and rent a movie, spend a day driving around and taking pictures, look up shit to do in your area, etc etc. It's not that hard to do.

As for the coffee/open mic night - I like it. You don't always have to do something expensive, or go somewhere 'nice' for dinner; simple is good.

The "Vending Machine Picnic" was an idea I've always wanted to try. Fill up a picnic basket with vending machine items, snacks you know for a fact that the girl really likes. If she's not a huge bitch, she'll love the cuteness and appreciate the fact that you know what she likes.

A good sentiment, but it's honestly about 50/50. A good portion of the girls at my college would openly tell you that they refuse to date a man who couldn't pamper them monetarily. It's not necessarily a bad thing, just how they were raised to expect a man to treat a woman.

Well yeah sometimes you have to do something nice and spend a little extra but on the first date or second date or even the early stages I don't think so. Every once and awhile it is good to spend, but you can have just as much fun if not a lot more for cheap. Use the creative juices. Some of my best dates have literally cost 5 dollars. And that was for a tub of ice cream and a box of mac and cheese.

I've never understood that. I don't think a man should have to pamper me, just be there unconditionally. It's more the actions than the material objects for me.

Dating at your age places you and your partner in a situation neither of you is ready for, leading to an awkward and misconstrued relationship full of misconceived notions of commitment and love. Your better off learning base, joining a band and shagging the left overs. play it safe, become a man whore, otherwise feelings get in the way n ruin shit. And i dunno who your buying from, but x is half that for me.

I probably should've mentioned that the last time I had a date with this girl, I spent around $40. I'm just trying to figure out inexpensive ideas that she'd have a good time with.
Atleast Geena and Chino knows wassup.
Your first idea sounded great, and I know I would enjoy that.
Also, look for things in your area, like festivals or things like that. One of my favourite dates was when we went to a thing back home called "Buskerfest". It's basically just a bunch of street performers and it's just fun to walk around and check out the different acts and performances. We had a super good time and I think the most we spent was $20 in tips for the performers and lunch at a vendor stand.
Creativity, with less money involved, is definitely more interesting than standard expensive dates.

Oh really? I'm from Ohio and my friends and I are hoping to make it out to Voodoo this summer.
But date wise - a night in is always a good call. Maybe have a movie that you know she likes or wanted to see and either (1) rent (2) buy if it's on sale or if you're really on a budget (3) torrent it.
Maybe even make an event out of going out to rent it. Go to the place. Maybe get a bag of candy. Go back home. Have a night in.

Date ideas are hard to come up with if you don't know the girl...if she's super high maintanece, then I doubt 'cheap dates' are going to fly. If she's more laid back, then you can be a little more creative or unusual. Have a day full of adventures. Hang out at the bookstore and read find your favorite children's books. Go on a walk or drive with no end in mind. Pull a "500 Days of Summer" and wander around a large retail store playing house. Have a picnic at the park. Browse a record store. Give her a tour of your favorite places in your city. Bake cookies together. Since your address location is Corvallis, I'm assuming you are near OSU. Colleges usually have free activities for students (and if you're not one, it can't be that hard to get in anyway). Check out student art exhibitions or a sporting event.
Those are all things I would do, but I'm also easily amused.

Has no one mentioned Redbox? 1$ movies... let her pick 2 and go watch them.
But before that, go for a nice walk at the park or something... throw a frisbee or something to burn some energy, something kinda active.
Once that is done, go to a Redbox and rent 2 movies of her choice (that is key), then go to your place or whatever and make some nice food for the girl or some popcorn and sit down and enjoy the movies. And the date is complete with a total of all your money probably going to the movies and gas.
2$ = Movies
4$ = Gas
-----------
6$ = Win
That is my 2 cents.

I like this. I could date a girl without being inconvenienced to actually go out on a real date. Plus we would already be alone, on the couch. And I play COD everyday, anyway.
This is perfect. The only drawback is that she would inevitably fuck up my death/kill ratio. M-(

Scrabble and a blowjob.
Whatever you go with, remember: A date is actually about YOU.
It's about showing her what YOUR life is about. Don't do something because you think it's something she likes. A girl doesn't need to be taken out to do or see something she likes, she does that already by herself and with her girlfriends.
So do something that you like to do. If you like to eat certain cuisine, take her to your favourite restaurant. If you like singing, go to a karaoke bar. If you want to kick back and play CoD or Halo, invite her over and teach her how to play (something like this can actually work really well, giving you ample opportunity to tease/flirt with her about she sucks at it/is getting better/is kicking your ass)
Perhaps even more importantly, don't do something you don't know anything about or have no actual interest in. Don't cook for her if you know you can't. Don't go to some theatre show you've never heard about, just because it's on. She'll be able to tell a mile away that you're just trying to impress her.
EDIT: As an addition, make you test the venue beforehand so you can control the experience as much as possible and make it seamless and enjoyable for her. You want the assurance that you know where you are, where everything is (eg ATMs/bathrooms/good seats), and how to get to and from there without any trouble.

Can't believe I forgot about this...
Just do the naked man.
Invite her round, nip into the toilet or go get her a drink and then come back naked. Works 60% of the time, straight up.

I like dates that are simple and fun. I hate dates that are too much of a hustle and are made as a "too big of deal" (e.g candlelight dinner, boat ride, etc.) Unless its an important event. I really like these type of dates so we are more focused on each other rather than the activity of the date.Anyway i'm pretty much the man on cheap dates ideas.
Cheap dates that I usually do:
1)When the weather is not on you side: Take her to you room. Show her your record collection. Show her your favorites and let her show hers then alk it over coffee then cook her a simple dinner, she'll appreciate the gesture. This is the best date in my opinion.
2) When the weather is good: Got to 7 eleven buy snacks and beers then just walk around your town for the rest of the night.
3)When you're really short in cash: Order pizza and play video games or watch movies at home.
4)When you're still awkward in terms of talking: Amateur nights. You can show her what you got and plus you can comments on people's performance to avoid those silent awkward moments.
5)If this is your first date: See a movie then go to a coffee shop afterward.Simple and it'll be easier to know whether she is a good nut or not.
I hope this works on her too : )
Good luck!
